Keeping the faith

My youngest boy (13) seems to be a natural on the tools and has a keen interest on all things mechanical, a refreshing change for the 'playstation generation'. Today he enjoyed checking the diaframs on the Triumphs carbs and then changed the spark plugs. He's looking forward to doing an oil and filter change on the Zodiac over Easter, I'm hoping he will persue a career in engineering, and keep my old motors on the road when my knackered back and knees stop me from doing so!

That's great to see, good on him!

When the wife and I are lucky enough to have a wee one, boy or girl I'm going to try and see if theyll take an interest in the cars!

That's a good thing. Mine look on, ask questions and pass me tools. Sometimes even the right ones! Does them good to do something different, especially something that's a bit of a challenge.

Top work BS6, you keep encouraging him! :D Haynes manual for Christmas then? Or has he asked for a Mig?

You wait 'til he's stripping down engines and taking on jobs you can't be arsed doing, it's great!

Awwww...isn't ickle Trigger cute?

And already into knitwear...

Great to see Da Yoof getting involved though. I've got some young relations visiting over Easter. Wonder if they've got any interest in mechanical things at all?

I need to have some kids now, then I can train them to do the jobs I can't be bothered to do

Better yet, get your siblings to have children so you have use of tiny hands for fiddly car jobs but don't have the hassle of looking after little people.

It's only child labour if you pay them.

Great stuff, I hope if I ever managed to find a wife and have a lil_kid_Sterling I would like to try and get them interested in cars. I wish my Dad would have showed me, but he never really took an interest in teaching me about cars (Hence why I'm a complete meachincal chump, I can probably just about manage a very simple service) or even driving for that matter, despite both him and me liking cars :(
