My first reaction was it's an Opel.  Ford's Taunus models look similar at that distance but the side trim line should help identify it.

Just checked: Looks as though it's a 1956ish Opel Caravan (i.e. estate).

Correct, "Caravan" version of the Olympia Rekord  - there is a saloon, 2nd from left on front row...

Isle of Wight in the 1930s.  The postcard was bought in the 1980s, so probably based on an old negative or an original old postcard.

So here we are in Budapest, where there is ample parking, even for an oversized American.

In Austria, they build a pointless road all the way up to the top of a mountain, then flattened the top  so they can have parking for the beetles to cool their engines.

That looks familiar. Think I stopped there in the summer of 1984...

Chamrousse. What's nicer than photographing some terrible hotel and a car park when you're in a stunningly beautiful region?

Typically French traffic lights are an old Sagem design. Remember seeing them in Calais in the early 1980s.

is that light ever green? 2CV fourgonnette likely came out of local assembly line.

for quite some time, this was the one and only light in town and, suprisingly, was generally respected.
