Near Leyburn, North Yorkshire please buy it!

I would love to, but won't be in a position to add any more to my fleet until May as any finances I have will be going towards getting the Maxi mot'd next month.

If it was local it wouldn't be such an issue as at least I could drive it back!

Likely to get the collective Autoshite blood pressure going through the roof, but somebody scrapped a Tagora a couple of weeks ago. No other information and I stupidly forgot to save the pictures of it.

Also, that 1100 looks ACE despite the slightly boring wheel choice. They look pretty rubbish at standard ride height tbh

I was passed on the info. 3 weeks ago. Phoned tp the next day to arrange to buy, and nope. Scrapped. Yes. Angry. Moreso at the Owners Club who knew about it since November. And at myself for not renewing my subscription last year. That oppertunity. A RHD UK Tagora in such good condition for £250 will NEVER happen again. High blood pressure. Yep

The Owners Club DID try to find a new home for the car once they knew the owner wanted to scrap it. It was advertised for ages on the Talbot website and viewed 240 times. No takers.

It was advertised in the Club magazine twice.. No takers.

Anyone looking to buy a rare car but can't be arsed joining the Owners Club which is the only likely place one will come up for sale can't start bleating about it after the event.

Ideally the owner could have put it on ebay to give it a wider audience but chose not to.

Anyway, a decent SX was offered on ebay for £1800 not so long ago but didn't sell. Everyone talks the talk but doesn't actually do anything. I haven't got room for any more cars and already have one I use for spares so couldn't take it. Its hard enough keeping 2 of the things roadworthy.

By the way, the scrapped one was a 2.2 GL on an X plate last taxed in 1993. Would have needed a fair bit of work.

I'll bleat all I like. Had I heard about it sooner, or had the owner not have scrapped it in Feb, youd be reading my Hey check out my Tagora blog. Its daft that car was scrapped. I will probably stick to getting a French one like I guessed I'd have to. And the ebay one was too expensive, come on its a Talbot Tagora

It's worth remembering that the internet has helped save probably thousands of old and interesting cars worldwide. I'm sure this forum and it's members has saved a fair few from the jaws of death. Until a member of this site wins the lottery we can't save them all sadly.

It does seem a shame but I suppose if someone has tried to sell it on and has failed you can't really moan too much. However it seems strange not putting it on e-bay as a last resort, even if you risk it going to a banger racer at least it will not go un-noticed.

There were 2 remaining known MK4 Cortina 2.3 S's until a year or so ago.. one belongs to an owners club member.. the other was in Newcastle, straight and tidy but missing its stripey trim and with a mk5 grille. The guy tried it on ebay but wuldn't take less that £1200 for it - When he didn't get that.. he weighed it in. Argh!

I never knew about this Tagora! Surely flooding the net with info on rare cars on deaths door is the way to get them saved.

Umm, how many different car club would soem of the chod heros on here need to be in? Car clubs (certainly for smaller clubs) aren't good places to sell cars as the vast majority of people run at their full capacity.

I would never get around to joining a talbot club although I love old Talbots. The idea that that was binned a month ago for lack of £250 is sickening though. Was it advertised anywhere outside the confines of the Talbot club?

The lady I spoke to was quite upset and said her husband would be too. I even tried to get the scrapyard info, I know my mate keeps and ebays anything rare like this at his scrapyard so hoped there was a last chance but she said her husband had seen it weeks later destroyed

I'll get some pics for you if you like. It is rotten. I already put a jack through the sill/door cos the tyres were same as my FSO

There's a Triumph TR7 in my mates yard thats doomed. And an Opel Manta. And I guess the Granada Hearse and Limo but they are both for sale so may get saved. Not much hope for old hearses tho!

TR7? Donor car ? Let me know...

And the ebay one was too expensive, come on its a Talbot Tagora

On one hand its too expensive, on the other hand there's only 4 of them or whatever left. You can' t have it both ways

You'll spend £250 on a wreck that's been sitting in a field for 20 years but not £1800 on a minter? Doesn't make sense, unless you like restoration projects.

a £250 car makes perfect sense, you spend £x every month fixing it up and the final pay off after 12 months graft, taking it for test. Then using it :)

Plus not everybody has the inclination to fix up a wreck, whereas anybody in the world could have bought and used that Tagora on eBay, it wasn't in any danger of being sent to the crusher. I'd rather have my hand in saving something that was. I know it may not be logical or cheaper in the long run but that's just me

Nah.... somewhere I have a pic of my 1983 Plymouth Gran Fury arriving, on a TurboDaily! Now THAT was a big car!
