Quite like the Raptor pick up. The Renault concept reminds me a bit of the 1985 Peugeot Quasar.

I fished this out recently

It now looks like this

Red with a tan interior for this three-seater, resembling one I was chasing in real life a few years back, but didn't buy in the end

IMG_0670.JPG.27569a5c315a6d12bafde4a07e4dc322.JPG

Detailing was a bit clumsy.  But Mebetoys's drop in casting quality and the plastic lower-half wasn't top-notch to start with

I like that, looks fantastic, just shows how much better things can look when it’s not got all those crappy stickers all over it and it’s depicting an actual car.

What Sierraman said 👍 I sat in one of these a few years back and it had series land rover levels of spaciousness 😂

It is indeed Tatty Wednesday, so here we go;

Found another Corgi sold as a Hot Wheels, Porsche 956

20210707_15594720210707_16003720210707_160044

I've been chasing one of these Dinky Superior Criterion ambulances for a while, usually they're missing the tailgate and/or expensive. Only problem being, by hedging my bets (well bids), I've won two...

20210707_16014220210707_160151

Only other significant arrival is this Field Car in a less common colour scheme. Missing the spare tyre which is quite annoying as I just sold the common one with the spare in place. I'll have a hunt through the spares box

I tidied the garage up last weekend and it's now quite a pleasant place to be so I've made a start on this poor thing...

...that was donated by the smashing Dick Longbridge a few months back in a deal with a Spidervan that was in slightly better condition.

It's looking surprisingly promising now (roof straightened, paint stripped, new windows on order) but I need to do something about the wheels.

Any suggestions where I can lay my hands new Matchbox wheels?

I haven't got any the same as the original Roadblasters, but I've got loads of normal Matchbox wheels, as well as various other brands if you want a set?

Yes please, whatever you've got really.

It's going to a white Police livery like this...

image.jpeg.c59811165c3bd960a1c6dc02aa6e4e8c.jpeg

...so I was hoping to get hold of wheels something like that.

I thought somebody must be flogging new ones on Ebay but apparently not.

The current wheels are 11mm diameter and the axles are 26mm long.

I'll have a look, got a big bag of stock Matchbox wheels and loads of donor cars

I have a couple of those 1961 Pontiac-chassised ambulances; one looking much as above, one a later issue with battery-powered lighting which was blue and white, but missing the rear door.  Said door is available (I must remember to order one) so at the moment it's in my shed, awaiting a further coat of blue on the lower panels.

Meanwhile, remember my Dinky Standard Atlas minibus?

545600243_HB040.thumb.jpg.c34dda6f37d9f7e2252503da4d79bd92.jpg

Yes, this one, that I was converting into a van for the Personal History fleet.  Well now it looks like this...

1329460825_HB016.thumb.jpg.8c32d6688eae6dd3b5e965e2bac2a3f4.jpg

All painted up and reassembled :)  I would suggest this as a candidate for Oxford Diecast to model.

Now if you know your old Dinky Toys, you'll remember this came with glazing and a vac-form red interior, with minibus seating.  I, erm.... broke the glazing while stripping it down, but I thought, that's ok, Steve Flowers will have one.  Er, no, apparently not.  Not available.  I was going to make new glazing, which I can do, I've had plenty of practice and I keep a stock of clear packaging on hand.  Then I thought, well I don't really need the interior either.  Red would be wrong, and the original vehicle was a plain van which didn't have all those seats anyway.  So I simply rolled it back to a slightly earlier era of Dinky, when they had neither.  It's now on display as you see it.

Incidentally, the glazing thing also happened when I dismantled my Dinky Range Rover (like the Atlas, owned from new).  This time I will have to make the glazing, as the RR has a lovely pale blue injection-moulded interior and a full set of opening doors, etc.  Can't get away with a rewind on this one!

Okay...   I'd like to do one resembling the metallic brown '61 Bonneville that was in a few films

Apparently the full title was Superior Criterion Super Headroom, one of 264 long wheelbase Pontiac professional cars built that year

Bit of a speedy one this morning, so sadly not possible to have a leisurely 'live from the tat stall' event over coffee and pastries. Deadlines to meet meant a swift half-hour to grub around the stall, snap a few pics, and then I had to dash back home again for 9.

Entirely new selection of tat on the stall this morning though, with a slightly different approach to display:

Two cut-down banana boxes, each with a sizable variety of Lesney/ Dublo/ Husky/ Lone Star. Looks like this has been someone's collection, rather than just a box of old toys - an example of nearly every regular wheeled Lesney between 1953 and around 1970 seemed to be here. All priced at £3 each.

Zooming in:

It's hard to overstate just how tiny the first-release Lesneys are.

I didn't realise the Ford GT40 was one of the rare 'red hub' versions until I was editing the pics; annoying.

The Nemesis was, typically, in before me.

Maybe he sneaks in on Thursday night and hides under one of the stalls. I dunno.

He had grabbed A LOT before I even made it to the stall, and must have had two or three dozen held over behind the stall.

Here, you can see an action shot of him reaching in to swipe quite a decent Mercury police car.

432636541_IMG_20210709_0807492.thumb.jpg.c602c79c98eb699154135077350049bd.jpg

He also nabbed this two-tone Commer pickup, which turns out to be a mega-rare colour variation worth $$$$, according to the Charlie Mack Matchbox bible.

Maybe Nemesis flogs them on, maybe he keeps them in the bath and loves to get in and writhe around in all the diecast loveliness. Who knows. But he paid quite a few twenties over for his haul, so I guess he must be doing okay.

Rare for the fire appliances to still have their ladders in situ.

There were three identical Husky bin lorries too, all in very good nick.

The VW camper is missing its doors, typically.

Some very early (1950s) Yesteryears in here too - including this US steam locomotive.

VW Beetle in front of the Field Car had no manufacturer - possibly Morestone? Bumper castings were broken front and rear, which put me off a bit. Naturally since I left it, it's probably worth more than my house or something.

DS Safari is the earlier, smaller plastic-base version compared to last week's find.

Blue Healey is a Dublo repaint.

Still-sealed Majorette fire engine was unusual.

Also, Micro Machines LaFrance ladder trucks, looking like they've been cut out of something with bigger packaging.

671250776_IMG_20210709_0804572.thumb.jpg.70e0c1b9fbfc593acbeab4228ae5b510.jpg

Possibly the most unusual item on the stall this morning was this colossal scratch-built military vessel - a landing craft, at a guess?

1702279148_IMG_20210709_0808592.thumb.jpg.a6f4591bf43f6b76f0c37ab7c0ed11b6.jpg

Seriously, this took up most of the stall, and must have been over four feet in length from bow to stern.

Not an uncommon thing for Harland & Wolff (or Workman Clark) shipbuilders to construct models of some of the boats they'd worked on apparently, so I'd guess that LC F24 was a real ship. This model is crafted in wood, but sadly looks like it's had a bad time of it lately.

1972417974_IMG_20210709_0809102.thumb.jpg.7632d9516ad66ab325b32230414b9cdf.jpg

Seems like a lot of the detailed fittings have been lost, sadly.

252058941_IMG_20210709_0809192.thumb.jpg.954aaabb4daee724f2eff00d27f25fd3.jpg

What you'd do with something like this, and where you'd store it, is anyone's guess. But let's hope someone takes it on who can put it back to its former glory.

So I took a quick spin round the rest of the market; only the Charity Stall had anything new with wheels, and The Nemesis was predictably all over that as well.

Nothing particularly exciting; it looked like some bashed Tonka and some modern Chinese pull-back toys, but I couldn't get close enough for a pic or a decent peek.

So that's pretty much it... Market Blokey did inform me that he'll have more Lesney coming for next week, plus more Dinky as well, so that's probably worth investigating.

If I can just get in before my funky-trainered rival...
