Shite in Miniature II

Well well well... all the snow yesterday meant that I got an opportunity to start sifting through some of my models, with a view to rehoming some of them.

I'll not lie, the thought of the Jumajo order on its way has been a bit of a prompt to make some space.

So far, I've only looked through some of the loose stuff and one of the bigger boxes, so there may* be a few more items still to come.

Those with long memories may spot some items that have cropped up previously, either from the Tat Market or via other sellers.

Plan of action is to offer them out here first, then offer any that aren't snaffled to the general forum, then hit up eBay with the dregs.

As always, happy to combine postage/ add to existing tat box parcels!

So let's go...

First up:

Matchbox Superkings K146 Jaguar XJ6, mint and boxed with no known model flaws.

Opening doors and bonnet allow you to gaze in wonder on the very beige interior and stylised engine.

227384079_IMG_20210213_1519572.thumb.jpg.b504b3733afb619a506246db5ce3295b.jpg

Box is very very tidy, with minimal edge wear.

1394458140_IMG_20210213_1518302.thumb.jpg.d3d66aca2567649bb362ea5933fc3eb1.jpg

Only defect seems to be a degree of UV yellowing to the plastic inlay.

1170300508_IMG_20210213_1520132.thumb.jpg.042792c34aad54735523efd04948683f.jpg

Other than that, this is a cracking box-fresh example of a Jaaaaag in a great colour.

A quick squizz on eBay advises these start at about £15 and become rapidly silly; I paid a tenner for it a couple of years back, and I'd be happy enough to get my original investment back. So £10+ post gets this right to your door of choice.

Next up - in the same vein, a Superkings K147 BMW 750i.

374127679_IMG_20210213_1520512.thumb.jpg.34a0283437d69f3e2ee527e312c9e233.jpg

Box is slightly more rumpled, but still intact.

591571721_IMG_20210213_1521042.thumb.jpg.3c4566dd963db62cf35dfb97fcb3cd87.jpg

Paintwork is all good and, like the Jaguar, this one doesn't seem to have spent much time out of the box.

1254522999_IMG_20210213_1521352.thumb.jpg.863e916e5ae339e73dd08797a52dbdd8.jpg

Also opening bonnet and doors:

1734978812_IMG_20210213_1522182.thumb.jpg.cbb4c44d8f2c69387972661fec32d4ce.jpg

...but keener eyed minishiters may have noticed one irritating niggle - the bonnet doesn't quite close properly.

386633194_IMG_20210213_1522452.thumb.jpg.3d282930f87209a8153112a46b354f99.jpg

It seems to be a factory cock-up; possibly the locating arms aren't properly seated. It just looks like it needs to come forward by about 2mm, but my cursory faffing has been unable to do much to sort it.

I also paid £10 for this 'un, which in retrospect wasn't maybe a brilliant investment (the bonnet issue only revealed itself afterwards when I took it out of the box).

I'd do this one for £6, if anyone wants it.

While I was a massive fan of these Superkings back when they could be found on the shelves at Woolworths, for some reason the big Matchboxes don't quite have the same charm to me as Corgi these days. No idea why - but I think they'd be happier off somewhere they're going to be properly appreciated.

I'd do the pair of them together for £15.

Speaking of Corgi...

More Bavarian tin, here in the form of the C353 E30 325i.

Box is also pleasingly crisp on this one.

Model is factory fresh, with opening doors, bonnet and sunroof...

74810912_IMG_20210213_1514312.thumb.jpg.a9c0400d9befb3538b46c85509b97c78.jpg

Though, as a mid-80s Corgi, that means that the paint does have a few bubbles and blisters. On this model, it's confined to just this spot on the bonnet (above the center pressing - not the white bit in the middle, that's just the lightbulb reflection)

I'm a bit horrified to realise I blew twenty quid on this two years ago.

1143181021_Screenshot_20210214-1104382.thumb.png.c81d6112c4289f3b2f31fea967a51523.png

While I was pleased enough with it, I quickly found that I simply couldn't see it in the rather dark cabinet where my Corgis live.

I then found a silver version that displays a bit better than the black, so this one found itself relegated to a box in the attic, which seems a bit mean.

The Beemer in black does seem to be a bit less common than red, silver or racing colours, which is why I paid a premium for it. Oh well.

Special shiter price: £10+ post.

Yup, the big 1966 Ford Galaxie 500.

This is one I dreamed of from a library book about collecting toy cars - the sheer size of it, and 'opening everything', was darn impressive.

457457362_IMG_20210213_1517342.thumb.jpg.895eab420b50df411985adc688d5d1ca.jpg

This one arrived with me about three years ago via the erstwhile Junkman of this parish.

There is a slight paint blemish to the roof panel:

481250906_IMG_20210213_1517432.thumb.jpg.87aa324715251492f42d8e05f459d4ff.jpg

...and there's also damage to the paint on the bootlid, because I'm a clumsy oaf and managed to drop it while trying to take pics.

1576763927_IMG_20210213_1517492.thumb.jpg.0479d1e8d0851e957dac6cf1dbc07c80.jpg

The paint is ruckled where the bootlid flipped open and hit the panel behind the window. It's not a chip (yet) and I'll do my best to stabilise it.

If you're looking one of these for a repaint, now's your chance.

I'm not sure what I paid Junkman for it, but I've a feeling it was more than they seem to be available for online, where they start at sub-£20.

All I'll say is, at least with this one you'll know what the flaws are in advance, hey?

£10 takes this 'un.

More to come (in a bit)!

Another one that just doesn't fit the collection these days...

1257029266_IMG_20210213_1509302.thumb.jpg.5f41213460e8e4277d808e807f9e8a3e.jpg

237425853_IMG_20210213_1509422.thumb.jpg.21a34bbadcfa2ac5c63712aa3632b95a.jpg

It's a Fiat 500L in 1/25 scale, by Nacoral of Spain. Much openage.

It's a very jolly little thing, bought early last year from the chap with the shop in Whitehead, more to help encourage a new business in the area (that's what I tell myself, anyway).

It's not really what I tend to go for, though, and although these seem to be pretty rare, I've had it on eBay for months at half the price I paid with not a flicker of interest.

Maybe no-one in the UK collects Nacoral?

Just for scale, here's a Corgi Juniors GP Buggy to give a sense of size:

1636207424_IMG_20210213_1510112.thumb.jpg.29395ae437347340362042c0b9f2f3e2.jpg

Although the casting is a little rough in places, the paint is excellent.

£10 plus post secures this one!

A recent find is this Hot wheels Volvo estate in red.

I don't really like the factory wheels,so took a trip down to see Smoll Eddy at his Wheel swap shop.

Also up for grabs is this early Corgi Rolls Royce Corniche:

1512377984_IMG_20210213_1510362.thumb.jpg.33e356ab637eee467d88fd1559b408c5.jpg

I'm in two minds about this one; it's a bit rougher than I'd like, but would probably display ok with a bit of Molotow chrome silver round the grille and bumpers - at least until I can turn up a better example.

But I'm not really a Roller fanboy, so I dunno...

Also, interestingly enough this example looks like it's been smacked up the arse at some point.

Only realised while taking pics that the rear slam panel's quite twisted, though with no corresponding paint damage. ANOTHER factory flaw?

With Cat C damage, there's no way this could make book price...

Continuing the Corgi odyssey into uncharted waters, you may recall this no-name FX4 Taxi clone which arrived via Jon K last month:

While an impressively brazen rip-off of the Corgi original and in fantastic condition, I'm now questioning whether my devotion extends to having two near-identical models in the cabinet, as space is fast becoming something of an issue.

So not without a touch of regret, after the very satisfying game of spot-the-difference upthread, this one is also seeking a new home.

£2.50 reflects the original price paid.

Obsolete corgi and matchbox are generally my thing. However I do make the odd exception - for valentine's day I got this -

20210214_134440.thumb.jpg.d56347194ec57eeedeb036a4f860294f.jpg

One of my earliest christmas memories was getting this - it was either 1976 or 77. I can remember marvelling at it 's size as or 4/5 year old - now it seems tiny. I hav'nt checked to see if it speaks yet - the fact that the white plastic has'nt yellowed and it still has the chrome and decals was why I chose this example. The prices range from £20 upwards - this cost somewhat more than that.

By the way - it says 2500 on the grill.

Meanwhile, in smaller scale stuff...

That's right, it's another round of the infamous Tat Boards.

I've been intending to slap these on the 'Bay in 99p job lots, but haven't yet got my lazy arse in gear to do so.

In the meantime, you lucky lot get another chance to nab some unwanted diecast.

All of the following are 50p each, 3 for £1.

Kicking off with Board 1, Lesney Matchbox:

128392014_IMG_20210213_1209472.thumb.jpg.5002cc2c31eac1eee9cf8c03cfb64c0e.jpg

Foamite Crash Tender; Ford GT40 which looks like it may have suffered a minor fire (one hub has shrunk and discoloured badly, either from chemical or heat damage is unclear).

1888335531_IMG_20210213_1210252.thumb.jpg.09fdb121af900b5dbf897f073fb8fd0e.jpg

A brace of Ford Group Six racers; one quite nice, one for spears or reapers.

(It's actually fine structurally, just wobbly axles and paint chipping.)

1598539277_IMG_20210213_1210312.thumb.jpg.3ac3d609aa8135316d07bb37f297e2eb.jpg

Remember, three for a pound on all of these!
