Ah, drat, I didn't find that place when I was there a fortnight ago. I was hoping to find a shop that I remember from a holiday 20 years ago, from which I bought my 1:18 Triumph Spitfire. I found a place that specialises in jigsaws, though, and I'm wondering if that's the subsequent evolution of the shop I remember.

My local Tesco has restocked; all the orange Golfs you can eat, but no sign of the Dodge.

DAFlicious. I owned one of the green trucks when I was a kid and thought it was time to add to the collection. Tickled that they both have the majority of the original cargo on board! 

Edit: I'm not 100% on the cargo on the green truck. My childhood model was secondhand I guess and never came with any load. I've also got a (recently purchased) light metallic green DAF truck with a plastic portacabin on the back, which has a completely different fixing bracket. Hmmm...

Plus a couple of lovely Matchbox, who keeps their toys this nice?

Plus this Hot Wheels, sure Matchbox did a version of this but I don't think I have one anymore

I had the Pepsi (D series?) which infuriatingly I’m sure would only take small cars in the back because of that central pillar!

...has gone up on the correct shelf today, because I completed the details.  The correct shelf is the Film & TV shelf (actually one of several).  Why?  Who on earth had a pale green Hillman Imp?  I'll tell you...

It was Richard Bradford as McGill, aka Man In A Suitcase.  (Cue that excellent music and let's throw some shapes!)  I have a feeling I've used a green that's a bit too light, his car may have been a bit darker, but it's the green I used on my Volvo's wheels, which means it's what I had in.  And come on, who else do you know who has a model of McGill's Imp?

Anyone for some Friday market tat...?

Well alright then...

My two arch-nemeses were already at the Tat Stall by the time I came puffing and blowing through the doors (frustratingly, the only entrance that's currently open is at the opposite end of the building from where I dump the car, so it's an extra detour). I could only watch in frozen horror as one lad made off with a very, very nice Dinky Ford Corsair in metallic red.

Some new stuff up top, today...

Yeah, the gap beside the police SD1 marks where the Corsair was. Corgi Pontiac ambulance was pretty good and complete; Dinky Plymouth taxi missing its sign but has the slightly better mid-70s wheels with metal inserts. Corgi Mercedes van in so-so condition, marred a little by a stuck sliding door (I'm after one of these).

Matchbox stuff (and others) seems to be an arbitrary selection of tat-grade stuff that's been inexplicably elevated to top-shelf status (and, possibly, pricing).

Dropping down onto the lower levels, then:

Familiar Bond partworks back again (but not the Rolls Shadow, and I did ask about that one) plus ropey Bburagos, Corgi Turbos, Lledo and other modernish stuff that didn't really catch my notice.

Probably about £3 for the stuff here.

Then, another lot appeared - again, same as previous weeks:

That mid-70s Bel Air cop car without lights is back; still think a fiver's a bit of a stretch though.

50p tat was there in abundance, too:

Inevitably, the really nice stuff has been taken already (mostly by me, in fairness), but there's still interest to be had rootling through the tub.

Regular wheels Lesney Ford D Series gritter has had a rough time of it; Flying Bug missing its wings.

Dodge tipper has been repainted in matt red; Super GTs are typical toybox fodder.

BMC Farina has a squashed roof, sadly. Majorette Citroen C4 is one I used to have, though this one has more than a few battle scars.

Ergomatic was in reasonable fettle; GT40 needs some tyres but otherwise reasonable.

Repaints, bashed and incompletes galore. But I held back - for the most part.

Moseying up the stalls, though... bit more diecast this week.

This was on an 'Irish Gifts' stall - Corgi Classics Belfast tram for £20 wasn't a bad price - think I sold mine for more ten years ago.

One of the antique stalls had these, too...

Pretty good nick, but £20 each... the stallholder was quick to quote eBay prices at me; he knows what they're wurf, m8.

Charity Stall had the same as last week, less a few buses...  both Buddy L Chevy pickups still there, though couldn't get a pic due to eejits blocking the way.

But on circling back round to the Tat Stall, wonders had arrived...

£10 on the Jag nonetheless; same on the Panda, and on the Dinky stuff also.

This sad looking MkIV Zodiac had also appeared...

...plus more Atlas repro stuff.

So yeah... I did do a bit of a deep dive into my pockets for two of the French Dinky for my own collection - the Ami and Panhard - but if there's anything else that tickles you, let me know ASAP! On my final lap now before I need to scoot...

I couldn't resist the Dinky 2CV in the end. These are beyond gorgeous, and will be staying for the time being!

Most of the marks on them seem to be attic dirt, so looking forward to some gentle scrubby-scrubby later...
