I got quite a good haul from Tescos today.

I didn't know of the Galaxie, Mercury and Pontiac.

Its a shame the Galaxie has green windows. I always hated it when they put stupid colored 'glass' in them. The fox body Stang is in dire need of a paint job, I might convertiblize it to look like my Dads old one.

I also picked up another MB 41 Cadillac convertible and a orange Golf if anyone's interested?

Nice going! Dunno if our local Tesco is regularly picked over by avid diecast hunters, or if it's just a bit of a rubbish store... but it's had nearly nothing for months now in terms of single Matchbox; the last one of interest I found was the Subaru Sambar, back in the spring.

Called in this evening, and other than a few 5-packs, the only Hot Wheels on the shelves were a couple of those wheeled chassis for a GoPro and one or two fantasy customs in ripped boxes... yet to get a sniff of the yellow Matchbox Civic or the blue BMW 2002! But it'll be all the more satisfying as and when I do...

Majorette did a convertible fox body Mustang with the facelifted front, might be easier to find one of those?

They do crop up, true...

This particular one's been rehomed, but can keep my eyes peeled for any others at the market...

That Skoda's magnificent - looks like it's been put on display near a window though, as I reckon the green areas are where the blue plastic's suffered UV light damage. I had a plastic Barkas minibus by Anker that went the same way, plus a Corgi Transit milk float that went pure yellow at the back... Dunno if there's any way to remove it, so maybe a repaint's not a bad idea...

My local Tesco has not had any new HW since before the lockdown however they had a consignment of MB which included a BMW 2002 about 5 Golfs and a Subaru Sambar. I've already got these so haven't picked them up. @Datsuncog I'm going back tonight if you want me to check and pick one up for you?

I really like that Galaxie - worth checking all you see as there's a Super Treasure Hunt of that one.

I agree about the Mustang paint though - and I haven't found that Mercury yet!

If you could find a 2002 and/or a Golf, then I'd be very interested, cheers!

SPLUGRGH POLISTIL

Unfortunately, the superb Polistil XJ was missing its grille and rear bootlid chromework.

20200911_094343.thumb.jpg.5e79cb0d53bd710d788ea55243b20acd.jpg

£10 on the Jag nonetheless; same on the Panda.

Hmmmmmm. Interesting.....

I have the same Polistil Jaguar in great condition but just missing its rear bumper which that one has. Might also be interested in the Panda.....

However, I may be dropping 3-figures for a model car.... all will revealed if the deal goes through.... so will almost certainly be barrassic come next month.

I know a couple of folks on here have managed to re-make missing plastic parts using a suitable pattern item and a resin kit... such a thing might be feasible here, to recreate a rear bumper and a grille and end up with two complete-looking Jags?

I'll see what's left on the stall come Friday, sure!

Intrigued by your three-figure model, though... Don't tell me Otto are dropping a Rover 800??

Got myself an RO80 in metallic brown - bonnet cable must be broken as it won't open

20200916_140250.jpg

Mmm, nice... I'm on the lookout for a Husky version of the Ro80 with the original chrome-insert wheels. Later type Whizzwheels don't half change the stance of the old Husky castings!

Seems there's been some extra depth of metal added to the lower part of the F350 casting too, in addition to the wider metal base - look at the difference in the arches.

Early type Whizzwheels are actually quite delicate - no bigger than the Husky type. These still sit within the arches, while the red example has the rims very much outside the arch.

Still think the Husky looks best, mind!

Incidentally, when viewed side by side you can see that the Husky base moulding was modified to take the Juniors lettering, too - the odd flat bit above (below?) the Whizzwheels lettering used to say 'truck'.

Which do you lot prefer? Some highly* scientific tests indicate that the metal-base version rolls further when launched down a ramp, most likely due to its greater mass...

See, my Jag has its complete front bumper and grille which can be used for a template if someone wanted to make a resin copy. That'd be great.

Regarding the model, I won't reveal it until its my hands. But you're not off ?

Yeah that would be easier. I forgot about that one I had one as a kid with no windshield. I also had a bright pink Allante I wonder where they went?  I always liked the suspension that Majorettes.

TV cabinet is back up to 9 now...

I decided the nearest thing to natural bedfellows was having two Pontiacs together.  TA is a 79, for the second film, rather than the prettier 77 from the first, because, well, have you seen the price of a 77?

There's been an addition to the police fleet, but it's too good to strip and restore...

762977809_DC035.thumb.jpg.5e1144a5e2c9f7e13669088e2c16f9a8.jpg

I already had it, just decided it should be among the other Dinky cops.  I have a Volvo too but it seems like a bigger scale, so won't be joining these.

777327760_DC036.thumb.jpg.db3bca94111ebc7e02c78ccfbb89e3a1.jpg

MB Jags won't be joining either; again it's a question of scale.

235565503_DC034.thumb.jpg.1f44a0fbe1274642af8d212c1e67f357.jpg

I made a start on my Volvo 740 estate.  The Humvee came to bits quite easily too.  Let's see how this develops.....

1897586545_DC033.thumb.jpg.15d76aa27de4d27728a4a7b7fc6e8b23.jpg

And finally today, the next, and quite possibly last, group to go under the drill for stripping.  The window sections on the Range Rover and Atlas shattered, so I'll have to get some ordered.

Always get a bit over excited when I see a Panda, not that many models about.

Mine, with mine.. anyone know a good way to get the Carabinieri decal off the screen or do I have to get one to put on the real car to match up?

Was it Tat Wednesday?

It very nearly wasn't.. Rather a poor selection again today, this trio of Lone Star Road masters were the only things to come home with me. The rear bumper on the Rambler is nothing a dab of glue wouldn't sort and the Cadillac is quite nice in its own way. Wasn't too fussed about the Corvair once I'd noticed a headlamp and bumper corner were gone, but the seller was keen for a deal.

i'm sure that you won't find it hard to re-home the Corvair on here, if you decide you do not want it.....

No, not that many model Pandas out there... I had a Bburago 1/43 (de-stickered) that got passed on a while back, and currently have one that I think was from a Fiat partwork - but both Mk1s, never clocked a Mk2 like yours. Looking good!

Not sure if a cotton bud dipped in acetone nail polish remover and rubbed over the Carabinieri decal might do the job... though getting your real one to match the model is, I feel, the stuff of champions...
