This Budgie Beetle has come out well, not sure if I should replicate the original detail (orange headlights and red tail lights, number plate light and VW badge) or just leave it alone.

The colour is nothing like the cap on the paint but I really like it, has a bit of a flip to it

The Dino purchase posted up this morning reminded me of a boot sale purchase from a few weeks back.  Found it out in the minefield of stuff already accumulated over the top of it...

Auto-Pilen MONZA GT in 1:43.  What's one of those then?  The car itself is a new one on me - at least, I'm vague about it.  The model is my sole Auto-Pilen example too.  Apparently it's meant to be modelled on this, the 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza GT :

Corvair-Monza-GT-1.jpg Image-1-Resized.jpg Image-2-Resized.jpg

Missing its screen...

20200730_132953801_iOS.thumb.jpg.165d4676c8a45e537ccf2213d2321384.jpg

tyres...

and there is some sort of headlamp shroud and beak broken away (which I didn't realise while fondling it at the sale in front of the owner who said he had it when a boy).

Was taken by it though (or maybe just the bling) and doubt I'll see another this side of a fiver.

This one's not done but as the sun's shining I though I'd take some pics. This one has really tried my patience, colour is nice but it's got loads of orange peel. Also just realised I forgot to tap the posts for screws so I'll have to try and do that without damaging it

You can have a right hand engine cover...

Today's purchase is giving up its bonnet and wheels for a good cause, the other one is different so I'll keep the pair for now

Any ideas what this truck is? I owned one as a kid, and just spotted one as part of a joblot on ebay. No other photos but I'm sure it was American.

Fair enough on the Mongoose ( @bunglebus), might have to make do with making a copy.  Looking forward to the colour scheme ?

I also was less than impressed with Halfords‘ idea of colour-matching cap labelling...

Dug these out, from a couple ‘recent’ job lot purchases.  Forgot I had them too...  the past few months have been a bit of a blur.  Anyhow, Corgi Jaguar MKX and Dinky Rolls Royce MPW FHC

I think I’ll have a clear-out soon, starting with the small ones as my eyes are getting worse now.  Think I’ll Concentrate on Dinky, SpotOn, then Corgi and other oddballs - and even then just bigger stuff 1:40 and larger that I don’t drop so easily ?  (Because clumsy oaf)

Sooner or later I’ll have to stop playing toys and get on with the real ones, as they won’t fix themselves (Wife might be a bit more cheered-up then). Saying that, my job security has hit the floor so the lot might have to be sold off (including the Wife).  Will have to see

Matchbox also did one in King Size too.  I think @Amishtat got hold of a long bed stake truck example (or similar) on a Tat Boot Wednesday, a few pages back

WCF 46 plate came with the kit, turns out to be 1963 Suffolk issue which seems appropriate as I bought it in Ipswich and started building it when I lived there.

For once, the shadow cast from the model in the photo adds to the realism

Only four left ?!  You work fast ?

Nyarrr... not a lot to tickle my fancy at today's tat market, I'm afraid...

Doesn't look like anything's shifted from a fortnight ago, so mebbe he wasn't here last week either. Tenner quoted on the older stuff; £20 for the articulated Corgi Majors.

20200731_101220.thumb.jpg.73a4d7db75b38f020970844d0934dd7a.jpg

Probably a coupla quid on the Lesney stuff; GMC Refrigerated Truck has its tailgate, which always seems to be missing - ditto the Field Car's hood.

Some very dusty and paint-damaged Corgi/EFE buses were also in attendance:

20200731_103038.thumb.jpg.893b76473d39df060db4e7f69a160376.jpg

There were more, but a giffer swooped down and scooped four of them while I was setting up this shot. He handed over a twenty pound note, so I guess these are a fiver a pop.

Big blue 1/43 modern coach has no windows, and is a plastic with diecast base job by 'Old Cars' of Italy - if that means anything to anyone?

No diecast visible on the charity stall this week, and nothing of much interest elsewhere...

Not really a vintage week, sorry!

Just looked them up. So they're modern Chinatat? Detail looks phenomenal though. The only ones I could find were 1/76, so tiny little things I assume...

Yeah, OO Railway Scale - oddly enough, the only EFE I have is a Panorama Elite in Sheffield United livery; must have had it since I was 13 or so. Great detail to the paintwork, though the wheels are a bit plasticky looking these days.

I'd say these are restoration project grade, as they've got bubbling paint from what looks like damp storage!

ohi dunno, the matchbox Trojan? van and the GMC refrigerated truck both look ok,

what is the score with the Corgi Ford Consul Classic, is it a repaint? i'm guessing the blue Jag in front of it has been painted too?

Just a shame that they didn't produce them about twice the size! For that sort of detail at such a small scale,  you'd assume it would be easier to produce a larger model.

The Corgi Classics range had a fair few buses in 1/43, and they were great but pricey enough - I have the Guy Arab and Leyland Tiger Cub, and I'm still on the lookout for their Leyland Atlantean, 25 years on...

The OOC/EFE range was priced at a tenner a go when new, though - they were really popular at the model shop where I worked. Often they ended up on model railway layouts, which I'm guessing is where these dusty dusty boys came from...

**STOP PRESS PRICE CRASH TO £3 OMG**

I always pick up those matchbox ramps whenever I see them, depending on the price of course.

Although I don't need another set right now.
