Shite in Miniature II

They still made those right into the 21st century with non opening rear doors.

I have a strange variant that my Granny gave me in about 1987. It has opening rear doors but instead of the plastic rear bumpers that are part of the baseplate, it has chunky separate die cast parts. I've never seen that since. Its in British Airways livery.

This has the die cast bumpers too,

1986 is the year on the box,so it's the same era as your BA one.

:-D

I restored a metallic blue one in the 90s when you could still buy the correct colour from motor factors. Also restored a Carribean Blue one and painted a small one Titan Blue which turned out very well. All still look good 20 years later!

What's in the blue box next to the Golden Oldies Shedford on the front row?

Posted

Loving the Norev, JM....Don't appear to be any swirly coloured interiors or comedy panel gaps on those early ones....

Posted

Yeah, they have no interiors at all and no opening features.

I have an R16 on the way, which shouldn't disappoint regarding the attributes you mention.

Proper Shite in miniature on its way here. No idea what the quality is like (though they look ok from the crap pictures) but we've ordered them regardless.

They are the ixo castings mate, got some of em already and they aren't bad tbh

Posted

Thought they would be. Or at least we hoped they would be when we ordered them as they do look like they came out of the IXO / Altaya / Whitebox / RBA / any other at all factory so should be decent quality. I'm wary with East European stuff after the Russian partworks quality problems but these should be alright I reckon.

Trying to get more of that range but if we get it there will be Daewoo Espero & Cielo / Nexia, Yugo Florida / Sana, Renault 16, Zasavas and a few more Daewoos. Not sure if we will see them yet though.

In the process of clearing out my mums loft of all my miniature chod. Putting it in ebay, seems all the glamorous shit like Porsches etc no one wants but shit like 1/18 scale Golfs, Spitfires etc is getting bidded on like wildfire.

Posted

is that Kojak with the golden coloured sedan?

Yes, and Crocker leaning out of the window shooting behind.  Kojak did normally drive a Buick Regal, as per the model.

By Shiters, most likely!

I had the Kojak car too. Was my fave. Even though it is so drab and brown. Maybe thats where it all started. Actually my 2nd fave was a Volvo 245 GL estate. Yikes! Think I've just worked myself out.

Its missing the n/s door mirror and the case is tatty but otherwise it looks all good.

£5 incl UK / EU postage if anyone needs it in their life!

In 1:43 or at least an other scale than 1:1?  :-(

Not suitable if you're under 3 years old..  Conrad model / VAG box , tiny chip on roof , 2 owners ,low mileage LHD . 1/43rd

I paid 15 quid + post 10 years ago, you can have it for the same if you want it .. but its not minichamps quality .Made in W.Germany makes it pre 1990 ,but its a bit eastern bloc quality .Nice though

It was Plasticvandan who wanted a Polo bread...  but if he doesn't,  i'll have it !! That looks a miles better model than my Conrad one .Who made that one ???

Posted

Cheers, I have PM'd him but if he doesn't want it, its yours!

It was marketed as 'RBA Collectables' but is an IXO / Altaya casting last seen on a 1980s partwork series.
