What make's the purple E type? Could be up for that one

I’ve no idea to be honest, it was in a job lot of other stuff. The wheels look like Corgi but it’s got no make on the base.

Cool can you put it aside for me please?

Picked up a couple of nice old Lesney VWs locally - this one seems to have had a repair where the tab holds the body on

Also found a guy locally who seems to be a serious toy hoarder, got another Piston Popper off him

Which poses me a slight problem, as the one I was going to use as an engine donor is broken, and I hadn't realised

Hopefully I can repair it somehow

Finally got chance to get some more pics of the Mk5 saloon as requested unfortunately no batteries so couldn't show with the lights working (both front & rear).

It's approximately 1:10 scale pressed steel.

Paya appears to be the brand.

Of the 4 two are boxed & this is the best one, I've seen one with a different hand set too.

Got them all from Spain via eBay in the early 00's.

Paid 20p for these two wrecks today. Would it make me an absolute bastard if I broke them for parts to save more viable stuff?

The BMC Pininfarina looks like it's missing an A-post and the roof's borked, plus appears to have been treated to one of my quality* repaints before being packed in salt.

The Rolamatics Ford has typically shonky axles and is missing its rear cover (and the lion).

I used to feel a lot more precious about Lesneys until I heard that in their heyday the London factory was knocking out six million models a week. Now, I don't know if that's entirely accurate but they did make a frankly mindboggling amount of tiny toys which were shipped all round the world.

There's still plenty of good 'uns left without worrying about modifying or salvaging scrap ones like these. Fill yer boots.

If you do, can I pinch the Rollamatic axles off the truck? Cos the one on my Piston Popper is broken, and I want to keep the pistons moving once I fit the engine into the Vantastic.

Talking of which;

There are more casting differences than I expected, engine hole is the same size but different mounts

Body is different behind the grille

Harder to see but the headlight/grille area are different widths

Even the windscreens are different - I had assumed it was Mustang up to the B pillars but the apertures are different sizes

Looks like I'll be using the Vantastic base (the body has cutouts in the sills for the side pipes anyway) and modifying it to take the Rollamatic axles

Will be good if you can get it to work. They got their money's worth out of that basic casting, there's the original  Mustang, the Vantastic, the Piston Popper,& the IMSA Mustang with the wide arches.

I didn't know until this morning that the Poles made copies of some matchbox 1-75 models in plastic...

Tootsietoy.

Seems quite different to both the Corgi Junior and Husky dies

The E Type FHC seems really hard to get right.

And at 1:43 I don't think Corgi and Jaguar quite captured the 2+2 versions.

An even better* idea is to give it the missing 4 cylinders

Now it's a proper Mustang popping its pistons

An old Rolls Royce Shadow I picked up ages ago sans boot lid now is complete using one of the Rolls donor cars bought from vulgalour. Quite like the ‘Builders Rolls’ look! I’ve accumulated quite a bit of a scrapyard on the top shelf of the wardrobe so if there’s anything Matchbox parts you are looking for I’ll have a rummage!

Today a package from Ali Express I'd forgotten I'd ordered turned up, which was nice!

I like to have a model of my current car and although I have a nice Matchbox C30 (see earlier post) I wanted something larger scale. I know 1:32 used to be made, which would be ideal, but currently unavailable. Found a 1:24 still in stock by doing an image search.

made by Welly, never heard of them, butseem to be Chinese

Opening bonnet & doors, I think the tailgate is moulded in with the rear lights so fixed.

Good detail inside but LHD

The T5 engine detail is great, it looks just like this

IMG_9071.thumb.JPG.3ddf8d3e7eb2d56c9171d953eb8c4dfb.JPG

Overall shape of the model is very good, it really looks just like the full size car

Shame this is the original version when mine is the facelift one, never mind it's still a lovely thing

I think quite a few people have been fooled into thinking I've bought another C30 T5 for real by this picture on my Instagram account haha!

IMG_9074.thumb.JPG.15e3512bfb39fb6872ae06a955d79f1a.JPG

When viewed on a phone it is pretty convincing, on a laptop, less so.

This gives the game away

Welly are a pretty big hitter these days, mainly found under the 'Nex' branding for larger scale models. They are in the main great value.

Your C30 looks really accurate and good quality. In the last decade they've moved away from the budget end of the 1/24 and 1/18 scale spectrum I'd say. I have a few moderns from their 1/24 range and the fit and finish is excellent.

Ok, the ‘Team Porsche’ is from the Race Support Set K-102 and issued a couple of years later, running to 1986

No, I don’t know why I have a fixation on US vans, either

I want that Rock N Roll version - you have to show some pics of the funky interior!
