You're getting every stage of this one, now the next base coat of standard primer. Look at that fantastic casting!

Shame I didn't notice the inside of the screen needed filing/sanding...

That really is a nice casting, isn't it?  Matchbox were really really good at that in the 60s.

Now painted and reassembled, my childlike impatience leading to a small chip. Now will be left to fully cure before detailing.

More work has gone into repairing and preparing that Matchbox Fiat 1500 than the one that I banger raced back in the hot summer of 1976. And I still have my Matchbox Fiat, one owner from new and one of my favourite cars to play with way back then. I also picked up a mint one for two quid a couple of years ago.

Due to mainly me and Felly getting excited over all things Gama / Schabak related. I recently bid and won these pair of Fords off ebay.

The Escort despite being in excellent condition had two bent axles annoyingly. So fitted these Schabak XR2i spare wheels instead for now. Will try and get the originals straight again at some point but for now quite happy with these. The Orion was ok thankfully.

Got to say as well that the Angila pickup conversion looking fantastic so far. I'm really enjoying seeing Vulg and egg work too. It gives me hope that I can tackle some of mine this year.

New arrival in good condition, apart from missing steering wheel which was not noted in the listing.

In quite an exciting day, this has also arrived from the Doctor. First time I've had my hands on one of these.

A few weeks ago, I bought one of these Matchbox Mobile Homes from a toyfair. Then immediately got a better condition one from Eddy.

So what to do with the scruffy one?

Some piss poor masking there, but doesn't that just add authenticity?

There's quite a few variations of that casting,

Think there is a red fire engine one too.

so mines red ,as i had some  red paint .

The temptation to reassemble is high, but I know it'll mark up with fingerprints so i'm desisting !  It's looking good though innit ? ..

Good therefore   Cheap !!  Is the   Husky one worth a packet ..and I've just chopped it up ?

Posted

Bit late to go worrying about things like value now, Christine!  I'd be surprised if the Husky Anglevan is worth much of anything, they don't seem to be particularly desirable and weren't exactly expensive when new.

Posted

I've not got any husky - and never had any when a kid -  but the base plates look exceptionally fragile - are they ok to drill out?

Posted

Values in Husky toys are completely in the packaging and completeness.   A mint Husky Anglebox van (with its telly and aerial quotient) should be worth no more than a tatty real one was in 1976 - about a tenner.   Probably I am wrong (I usually am regarding values) but it ain't rare so don't sweat it!
