Shite in Miniature II

In other news, the 600 nicker I spent getting my loft floored so I could safely display my collection has turned out to be a big massive purple throbbing folly.

I know nothing about houses so thought getting it floored was a GR8 idea. What I've had done has now effectively suffocated the roofspace and the root felt is literally pishing condensation over my collection.

Emergency evacuation now complete but I'm NOT HAPPY. All my models are going to have to be boxed up and packed away until a solution is found which is all a right old war.

My collection is spread around various attics in Essex, all in their boxes which, in turn, are all in cardboard boxes (mosty ex h-fi and computer equipment). Hopefully they're not finding conditions too harsh.

Since buying the Cougar, I'm rather afraid to say I've been a little naughty, with various other eBay 1:18 purchases and, ahem, a certain Norev via Mr Lobster (thank you, sir).

I'm going to have to go cold turkey for a while.

This wasn't set up, I happened to wake up and look at the alarm clock and had to frantically scrabble for the phone to catch a pic before the numbers changed :)

I had no* idea* that Ovolovs are so popular here.

This is what I picked up at a toy fair earlier this year:

Metro is either SunStar or Ottomobile

Manta - SunStar have done them but can't remember if they did the Andrews version.

Can't think of a 1/18 RS200. Escort Cosworths by UT / Minichamps . Otto but probably not with tiger stripes.

I've been perusing eBay recently and scored a fair few bargs, but prices seem to be all over the place for discontinued models.

Case in point: I have a white Revell Opel Manta at home, I bought it for £15 from Toymaster in Chelmsford five or so years back. Earlier this year I visited the Goodwood Festival, and there were a few "model specialists" with New-Old stock models on display. I checked the prices; now- I know it's all about supply and demand and you can't blame a chap for taking the piss a little at an event like Goodwood, but:

Seriously? When I tossed my fifteen quid across that Chelmsford counter I never imagined that my investment would be quite so blue chip.

I have no space for 1:18s, which is a shame. My Ottomobile GS Birotor is still in a drawer.

I think I only paid about £15 for my silver Revell Manta 400 too. Wish I'd bought the white one then too!

I wish they didn't have ATS Cups fitted, either.

In other news, here's the Lobster sourced Norev CX.

I undertook a mega swappage today, got this haul in. My favourite is the red Volvo S40 which has been lowered and fitted with bigger alloys.

There's a Norev Alfa 6 in there too which I'm pleased with, partwork I believe.post-3238-0-23883100-1417977159_thumb.jpg

The current contents of my display cabinet. (Need to have a bit of a shift about as I seem to have a fair few coming my way for Christmas and Ive still got 1/43rds in the loft that havent seen the light of day yet!). Mainly Vanguards with the odd Trofeu and Minichamps thrown in...

Starting with the whole Vanguards 'Hidden Treasures' collection,

Then the whole Vanguards 'Boy racers' collection. (Santa is apparently bringing the Essex boy XR3i to complete the collection...). With bonus Rootesmobile content, including the double of the white Avenger Pa_W201 owned in the 70s.

1417909649773_zps78d72cff.jpg

Next is the OMGOSFSCENETAX collection. If only I had the full size versions... Plus a selection of 'Not all Voxalls r shit m8' favourites...

Plus, when I had my Allegro, I had to have all the available Vanguards versions. Also featuring a bit more BLshite lurking in the background,

Got some unboxed stuff arriving this week, a Minichamps frogface Scorpio, mk1 Mondeo estate and a Ford Puma that I think is made by Hongwell Cararama. Mondeo has no mirrors, but a mate of mine has some spares

I've got the Cararama Puma..... it's a bit... well, I dunno, I think it's a bit weird around the bonnet. Like, weirder than the original.

Well if it turns out to be shit, it will become a wheel donor :)

Ah, the wheels are lovely.

I do seem to be having a Ford phase atm, was looking at Minichamps mk2 Capris, BUT, they all have mk3 rear lights. How can a firm like that make such a glaring bollock drop, especially when they aren't exactly cheap?????

Posted

I've got the Hongwell Puma and there's not a lot to differentiate it from a more expensive one. I heard Hongwell were commissioned to make some models for Autoart in the past. In my above noted haul there are a fair few Hongwells and they aren't bad at all. They don't compare to the weight and fineness of a Minichamps though.
