Shite in Miniature II

I picked a few Victors up a while back with missing tailgates. So being the nerd I am I made a template. Took the template to work and drew it out in CAD then plotted it out on Polycarb.

There are two different tailgates one with a flat top and one with a tab. I couldn't get the tailgate to open because the thin plastic hinges snapped off so I glued it in.

Excuse my sausage fingers and crud pictures.

Not the best but better than paying three times as much as the car on a part. :-D

Here's why I haven't been posting much this week.

It's 95% finished, so I'll photograph it now as I always lose momentum at this stage.

There's a Facebook group called 'Norev collectors' just people posting their models up. Makes a nice break to the Brexit memes in your news* feed.

Aldi had a bunch of Hotwheels, but they had already been raided. However there was a Tesla Roadster so I was able to complete the range.

Serious model boat action at Bushy Park last weekend during the weirdly nice weather. There was even a model breakwater! Highlight was the cannon-water pistols of the pirate ship squirting the ducks. Mwuhahahaha.

Not really a person for boxes, but I thought I'd try a Norev reproduction effort from Germany, and I'm quite pleased with it really.

Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in bus shite, but I've finally managed to acquire one of my holy grails. It's a white metal kit of a Jonckheere Jubilee P90 by Pirate Models. In theory I could have bought a 'new' one by handing over my life savings to the current owner of the brand in exchange for something that's been in his shed for 20 years or more - I'm not kidding, the last ad I saw listed this kit at something like £65 and that was a few years ago so it could be pushing £100 now! Then I'd probably have to pay someone to build it for me as I'm not good with white metal at the best of times and this has a reputation as a difficult kit, so that was a non-starter.

I'd been looking for years but never ever seen a second-hand one come up for sale. Then I found a dealer on eBay selling a huge collection including many rare kits and scratch-builds. I get the impression he usually deals in diecasts and didn't really know what he had as this one wasn't very well described but I recognised instantly what it was. Whoever built it did a really nice job and the best bit is that it only cost me just over £30 so I'm well chuffed.

Very nice. I've got a Dyane with nose bend incoming. Seems most of them do that.

It's a normal French thing...

Yellow one from ebay.fr ?

I've never seen one with a straight front end, even MIB.

Somewhere there must be one that's been stored in the dark at a constant 10c in a vacuum...

Not me, I'll be off to ebay.De later so might see you there.

Gave up bidding on a redv norev CX on .fr after bids got silly, is that you ?

Not me on the CX.

postage to the UK is usually £1-£3 cheaper from Germany, so I find .de preferable to .fr (although number of models is far fewer...)

we've been to the toyfair at Catterick today, and even managed a buyage too.

we maybe shouldn't have done so, but what is the point of working and the like, and not been able to enjoy the results from my labours.

first off this, another cabinate to hang off the wall somewhere. well, we are thinking of here, above the sewing machine in our back room.

the plan for ths? well some will be diecast cars and toy trains, and we also have some diecast bikes which are kerry's so the plan will be, we think, to share it out with some cars, some trains and some bikes too.

will it work? only time will tell.....

i also bought these two, first off is a Dinky Triumph Herald. i have been after one of these for ome time, and while this one isn't perfect, its still very nice. second one, is a repainted Triang Spot-on Austin A40. again, its not totally perfect, but its very nice, and displays well. plus its another model that i have been looking for a while.

here they are on the back of the Bedford TK, though they have since been moved into the main display case with the other "classic" diecast toys.
