Poundland Alert! The local branch has just had a large batch of Cararama 1/72 scale Belgian Police Renault Trafic minibuses in. LHD, but a good likeness and cheap enough to Anglicise or possibly even a camper conversion :)

This guy must have sold his soul to the devil for his ability.

Holy shit!

Should there ever be a P6 in 1/18, I'll have him apply his magic.

More Communistical chod has arrived in the fleet. Sadly the silver Samara is showing signs of zinc pest, and the bonnet hinge snapped off. The red one is thankfully not showing any signs yet. Bases say Made in USSR

Those Russian models are ace but I refuse to buy any more as I've lost a Riva and a zil to Zinc Pest. Partwork ones just aren't as authentic though.

Know what you mean Ian. The remaining bonnet hinge fell off yesterday on the silver one, the metal is clearly getting fragile on it. Bearing in mind on ebay as of late, jokers are asking £30 each for em, I got the pair for less than half that, so may have dodged a bullet. I've civilianised the silver Lada 112 police car now, but one of the headlamps fell out when I was stripping it down, GRR, managed to make a new un from the plastic blister it came in. My yellow partwork Lada 1200 police car is now showing blisters under the paint on the bootlid. FFS these things are corroding just like the real thing.

The whole casting is like this, all I can say is Ã±Ã»Ñ ÑƒÃ±Ã»ÑŽÃ´Ã¾Ãº

That's just the paint, had that on a Moskvich that I bought in 95. Repainted it and as fine until I sold it last year. If it has a grainy texture like the dashtop on the real thing, thats your zinc pest. Looks like the door has it in the bottom pic, its buckled.

I can live with the loss of a tenner Lada, but my 60 nicker Audi 1/18 scale is still a sore one.

the bonnet underside is rough as a badgers arse on the silver un and is deffo showing signs of turning to powder. I'd be bloody livid if a £60 model did that

Today's 3 swapsies, very pleased.

The first is a Bburago Renault 14, quite rare, thankfully I have a contact who has a large collection of these. I've wanted one like this for over 20 years but to no avail. It's wonderfully crude with only opening doors.

The second is a Talbot Matra Rancho from the same maker and in the same scale. In comparison to the Renault its very detailed and everything opens.

The next is an Alfa 2000 Spyder in 1/25 by Fabbri. It was a partwork model issued back in the 2000s. It's very detailed and everything opens. Mr Lobster have you ever heard of this series?

1:43 scale Hellier LHD Princess.  I've not been able to work on any miniatures or models for ages, so it was good to finally have opportunity to get some work done on this one.  Can't proceed further until that first coat of purple has dried.

Interestingly*, Champagne Beige looks very definitely grey under incandescent bulb so I can well imagine the reason for my V5 stating colour as grey was because of the lights in the showroom back in 1980.  Get into daylight or under a daylight bulb and the colour doesn't look grey at all.  Very strange.

Certainly have. I reckon I've got a couple in one of our damaged boxes somewhere....

They are actually branded as several different manufacturers depending on who commissioned the factory to produce them. That one was part of an Italian series from around 2005 or thereabouts which I think was something to do with 'Quatroruote' magazine. It was a really nice series but we didn't see that much of them over here.

More recently the same factory has reused the same range and castings for Whitebox's range of 1:24s and they are really good. Detail is good and they have plenty of opening bits and price is pretty good too.

Thanks Mr L :D

I've been Googling them and I believe our very own Junkman has a collection of them. Id love the Innocenti Mini!

From memory the stuff we got from the partwork series (I think we had them in about 2007) was as follows -

Mk1 Golf GTi, Citroen DS, Innocenti Mini, Porsche 911, Autobianchi Bianchina, Merc 300SL, Alfa Spider, Alfa Giulia, Fiat 500, Fiat Multipla, Fiat 127, Renault 5 Alpine, Lancia Delta, Lamborghini Miura, Renault 4, mk1 Escort and possibly a couple of others. Its a long time ago though and whilst there were probably others, I can't remember now!

There were a few that we never had - I'd love to have had the 1:24 Sierra Sapphire Cosworth which was part of the series. I've we'd had a couple of boxes of them then I reckon I could probably have bought something very expensive with the profits :)

Fabbri is an Italian publishing company, presumably the company behind Quattroruote magazine.

I wonder if the Innocenti Mini is the same as the one Welly produce? Probably is...

Don't think it is Dave. I had one and the boot opened on it, doesn't on the Welly issue

would there be a shitters price for the 1/18 cx gti?

I was really impressed with my Alfa. I'd love o get my hands on some more but if there are any spare funds they'll be going towards more Bburagos.

Certainly is, I'll drop you a pm in the morning :)

Might I also ask to be considered for an under-the-counter transaction? Payday is but a month away...

There were loads more, altogether there were 50 in the series.

Many of them have been reissued by a company called Whitebox and those are still available.
