I saw that too. There's a resin estate model, but it's even more than that.

I think a few of my "models of cars I have owned" are now worth more than what I sold the real one for.....Some run better, too.

I bought another one of these:

And set to it with an angle grinder and added some plastic card to make an approximation of this:

It's a U23 that I stupidly turned down buying a few* years back.

Here's my attempt, first go at making my own waterslide transfers too.

Also just finished this 2CV, had to replace the windscreen pillars on this.

It's your fault.

All of you's.

Why else would I be doing The Big Shop and divert down the toy aisle?

Why else would I see this and go "I really need a model of a Vauxhall Omega and a Volvo FL6 in my life".

Four quid, half price. Number of opening doors etc: none. Quality of decals: iffy. But, they're RHD and recognisable which makes me happy.ad1ff48c5803d467c1af93d6158df582.jpg59f82d95668e702beb16bfb55fa79baa.jpg

Nice work there JM, that looks class. Things have come a long way from Letraset!

How do you make those waterslides?

I got some waterslide inkjet paper from ebay.   Be careful when ordering because there are white and clear types also inkjet and laser.

For the above I used clear inkjet paper printed with a regular Brother printer loaded with non original ink.

Then make your image in your chosen software and print in photo quality.

Let it dry a bit then spray a light coat of varnish on. (I used a regular clear acrylic varnish from Le B&Q)

Let it dry enough to handle then apply as normal. Don't let it dry too long. First time I tried I left it to dry overnight and the waterslide refused to release from the paper.

Hardest part (for me) is fighting with graphics software.

I used paint.net to fart about with the image and open office draw to resize and copy.

I'm still learning, next project will appear here soon :)

De Agostini/Atlas Editions partwork stuff should be plentiful very soon as they've pulled the plug on Atlas and John Ayreys seem to have bought all the leftover stock and dumped it at bargain prices.

Two separate bits to this... Atlas pulling the plug on partworks is more of a 'there'll be no more going forwards' kinda thing. How this impacts IXO et al remains to be seen as the partwork issue essentially paid for the castings for the main range so they are going to gave to significantly rethink their business model going into the future.

Secondly, Ayreys buying partworks isn't a new thing. They (and by consequence, us) have been doing it for years. How this impacts the trade in general remains to be seen. Certainly for us at least, partworks have become a significant part of the business and in a struggling UK market it's not exactly welcome news.

DeAgostini are the parent company of Atlas, so who knows what they are up to.

These are up for grabs for free.

"Free" means I don't want a penny for them. You can have them without having to pay for them.

They will cost you as much as stealing them. No money has to change hands.

However, there are two things for you to consider:

1. I cannot be arsed to post them. This means you have to come here to pick them up.

So if you live 300 miles south of The North, it's your own fucking fault.

2. Neither can I be arsed to take more photos. This means see 1.

Okay, I'll restore them then.

Serve us all right if there was a mint, window-boxed burgundy Golden Jack-er in that Toronado carton.

i've bought some more vintage retro diecast tat.

got this, its a Matchbox "Racing Mini" which isn't a great model, but its a Mini and it was cheap. somewhere the proportions have all gone to pot, it seems too long in the nose and too short in the tail. i think it closer to the A40 rather than a Mini!

and then cos i bought a Dinky Bedford Turntable fire engine, i've ended up buying both the Commer fire engine and a Nash fire cheifs Station Wagon. the Nash though is i think an odd choice for Dinky to make, it must have been an unusual car to see in America, never mine in this country.

and finally, i got my first "Spot on", a mark 1 Austin 1800 Land Crab. Kerry's father had a series of these when they were growing up so its a car that has some sentimental appeal to her, plus i like 'em cos its BMC, it Issigonis and it just beautiful.....

I plundered the box and the Plymouth is already in my repainting studio. But if you PayPal me the postage I'm sure it wouldn't mind avoiding my caustic soda bath.

Here's another repaint with home made waterslide. This time in the livery of my local town council.

And today's project, bloody hell getting it to bits was a mare, hidden screws (under fuel tank & gearbox), but you had to damage the front suspension to get the gearbox out. It is now in 'Minder' guise, and is right hand drive, using a Vanguards donor.

Some new stuff from Oxford Diecast. What's up with the windscreen on the TR7, too tall or wrong angle?

And this arrived last week from Mercrocker, who wouldn't take a penny for it. The generosity of shiters amazes me once more.

Lima Capri by Adam Floyd, on Flickr

OK, it's a bit crude but here's one I made earlier in suitably beige condition

The beige Capri captures the look of many real ones back in the day - rust, sagging rear suspension and bent front numberplate nicely crafted.

Definitely wrong angle.

I like that J4 though, that's excellent for HO scale!  As is the weathered Capri :)

Judging by the quarterlights I would suggest that the TR7 screen isnt pushed all the way down, rather than there being anything inherently wrong with it.

Further to earlier posts, is there much demand from folks on here for these Greenlight/Lootbox Mustangs? Nearby Poundland seems to have got another load in.

I'll be doing a fair bit of minishite packing and posting this weekend... can nip back and see if there's any left, should anyone fancy one?
