Some recent Corgi 1/36 arrivals have arrived from the random post implosion pre China production period for Corgi - would this be 1984 - 1986?

First up the RS 1600i, spot the ground out 1300 GL-less base. I’m not sure why this was chosen over the XR3i really, especially as it got specific wheel inserts too? Maybe the stripes differentiated it better?

Purchased the best way in a “prey its like new inside” gamble - which it was 🤞

A few weeks back the lovely 3 series twins arrived too. I have black, red and silver standard ones but the tampos on the sporting ones always seem to suffer, so I was rather chuffed with these two. Lots of play features - opening bonnet and doors, and reassuringly heavy. Somehow I was too grown up for this release being at senior school by launch 😆

The Matchbox wheels were the closest thing I could find to Lotus steels with hubcaps, I did consider a set of Minilites off one of the Hongwell Minis, but I absolutely love the steels so this was the only choice really. They are slightly larger than the originals annoyingly.

I wonder what the next colour will be?

The wee wheels off a HW Alfa Guilia would look spot on imo.

2 brilliant Corgi castings, especially the E30. Its my favourite rendition of the real car.

I've never seen the EscortRS1600 version in the metal before.

I did look at those but I wanted steels/hubcaps. I've spoken to the bloke at Creative 164 about doing some Lotus steels, hopefully he'll produce some

I think I saw that one at a Swapmeet a couple of years ago, didn't know it was an RS.

New arrivals. I bought a few Matchbox Superchargers monster trucks off a Vinted seller recently, she had a load of Majorettes too and we agreed a price for them all

I toured a few shops in a different area today to get a reasonable haul - even found a Morrisons although pickings were quite slim there.

I’m especially pleased with the 560 AMG as it was such a random find. I’m a big M2 fan, so this was a good catch for me, not least as I’m considering buying a real one!

I don’t ever buy novelty versions, but the Gotta Go purchase was inspired by an earlier post which I thought it was a bit of fun. At a later Tesco stop I found a different casting of it, but as it was the only thing there of any interest I couldn’t justify the £2.40 price tag for a novelty.

The Gotta Go is genius, the Rolamatic type feature that jiggles the toilet seat, the front grille being a urinal, the door handles are flush levers - there are just loads of toilet humour gags built into it, and yet it still looks like a 1930s pickup truck. The monster truck version is modified so the trailing edges of the wings look like torn toilet paper.

I'm surprised no-one's complained about it yet, after all Mattel had to stop making the Cadillac hearse after protests about kids having a toy associated with death (toy guns are fine though)

Bit more done earlier on.

Stress cracks cut nipped out and filled with chemical metal. I've taken the donor car apart, cut out the rear panel and stuck it into my shell. Mine went missing in the mid 1980s.

I'll gently file things down and top up the adhesive where required. My shell is dropped onto the donor chassis in the photos - I'm still in two minds as to whether I salvage my original or not. We'll see.

That reminds me, was it you that previously shown interest in a Hot Wheels Knight Rider car I had?

It may not have been you… someone was interested in it to complete a set of different scales unless it was @Lord Sterling? Can’t remember…

Anyway, it’s amongst a job lot roffle I’ve put up on the car boot thread.

Funny how these things go, I was watching that blue Escort and saw you got outbid, considered buying it and fitting a new set of wheels to it - but didn't bid in the end. Then this appeared!

Unfortunately its not a logo I've encountered before.

Zodiac imported various far east cars, presumably already boxed with their name on. I believe it was the same Zodiac that had a chain of toy shops in the UK

My Midnight Opel doesn't mention Zodiac, despite clearly being in the same packaging as the Escort

Rummaging in my project and spares boxes, noticed some stuff

Three different Challenger body styles - I didn't clock that some have a plastic hood scoop as part of the interior, some have it cast in. Obviously the earlier car has no rear spoiler, sidepipes or enlarged arches

Different colour interior Draguars. I haven't got a good example with orange seats

It may not have been you… someone was interested in it to complete a set of different scales unless it was @Lord Sterling? Can’t remember…

Anyway, it’s amongst a job lot roffle I’ve put up on the car boot thread.

Not me, squire.
