Never seen a 1/36 Metro wearing a Castrol racing livery like that - not at the time, not in the Corgi catalogues of the era, and not during any tat safaris.

Seems to be a bit of a scare one, that - don't think I'd have been prepared to pay quite that much, though!

Toy fair buys from today

50p each for these, Eddy has already bagsied a few of them

IMG_0977.thumb.JPG.da47daf5164f82e833b81f00f7bef15c.JPG

Amazingly the Corgi Camaro still has the blinds in the grill complete with tabs and all the suspension works!

IMG_0978.thumb.JPG.d68cf5cf06c8dd6bf1f920c68e36e6f5.JPG

I've never seen any of these before it's plastic and made in France so very like a Norev.

IMG_0992.thumb.JPG.4d197be0d03b465ccef7d864fb37dd83.JPG

I believe the bonnet should open, but I've not been able to yet.

IMG_0991.thumb.JPG.32885887461dcd672bca2796886d86db.JPG

Talking of plastic Norev, the body of this 404 is less distorted than the one I already have, but missing a few bits

IMG_0993.thumb.JPG.639b59126b6e3eb404f5414ea77213cf.JPG

Politoys Marzal is complete apart from the glazing so may get a new lease of life at some point

IMG_0990.thumb.JPG.228f47e88e9015a527da4e396005d4dc.JPG

These were £2 except the Welly 307CC at £1

IMG_0976.thumb.JPG.536f921eca4811bac83821beb015a748.JPG

I have a soft spot for the 307 as it's the same car underneath as the Citroen C4 VTS that I love, this looks like it has the 180 engine as well. I have a couple of Volvo C30 Wellys in the same scale 1/24 (or 1/25?) and they are really nice models as well.

IMG_0983.thumb.JPG.3b40d9516afc7a0e951b001b6821e270.JPG

Shame it has a wheel missing, I can see it getting aftermarket alloys.

I don't suppose this is your sort of thing @Split_Pin?

IMG_0984.thumb.JPG.d23827df9c2a45348ec132af374edcc7.JPG

The Innocenti Mini is also Welly and also pretty nice

IMG_0979.thumb.JPG.fbc8e58037d34cb7846d08d862dfa0d4.JPG

Funny I saw one just like this a few weeks ago and picked it up. but put it down quickly when the seller wanted £15!

IMG_0980.thumb.JPG.1829c09a769a02d59d40c05c245e1213.JPG

Nice Corgi Sierra still has all the bits that usually get lost

IMG_0981.thumb.JPG.4e38cd51849d5ffc995fa02e247a72c3.JPG

and after @flat4alfa suggesting my next Speed Kings dragster conversion I needed this

IMG_0982.thumb.JPG.1c06f6640399893d5fd2f0488e9224fd.JPG

At a toy fair a few weeks ago I saw a Schuco Pisshat B1 in a box for £25, I liked the look of it, but didn't buy it.

It was there again today and the seller offered it to me for £20 before I'd said anything, having already looked on ebay, I accepted

IMG_0987.thumb.JPG.d21173ef4940b9b143d4494d8d90c996.JPG

These three started at £25 for all of them and taken home for £20 which I was very pleased with. I have a Mira CX already, but not as nice as this one. The two Schuco Audis are really lovely despite the 80 missing a front bumper, I'm sure I can bodge something together for that

Opening almost everything

IMG_0986.thumb.JPG.2a77408266dda14491e91a463fe70d4b.JPG

As does the Passat

Mrs Concern only came away with a Majorette caravan for £1, she has a couple already, but different colours

IMG_0969.thumb.JPG.0c057bc1fe191c834c09a06e984db87b.JPG

Later we went into Arundel where Mrs Concern bought this fun little clockwork robot for £8, was £10, but it didn't work and they knocked money off. When we got home I sprayed isopropyl into the mechanism and it instantly started up!

IMG_0970.thumb.JPG.0f28c270da37beb87551ebeddc712013.JPG

Spotted a couple of interesting toys in town as well, but didn't buy anything

although I was tempted by this Pilen Renner

Love the Schucos. I have a Passat but it has a less attractive cardboard box.

Yes please on the tripod 307, I have a set of wheels from an abandoned 1/25 Camaro model kit that would fit perfectly!

If I hadn't already bought a ton of tat and Mrs Concern had hardly anything I'd have snapped it up!

The Schucos are lovely, I'm not keen on buying with a box as it adds to the price and I never display with it anyway and then you need to store the box somewhere.

Oh that's great! I didn't expect you to want the Pug, but I'm super pleased you do want it!

It jumped right out at me. Anything 'normal-ish' in that scale is quite hard to find I think, so this is ideal.

It could easily be made into a single car car transporter.

If you search Corgi 605 Metro on the web you get two different models come up.

That racing version

Corgi 605; Austin Metro 1.3HLS; Racing; Colin Thomas; RN7 156569

156569m.JPG

and this Turbo version

Corgi 605; Austin Metro 1.3HLS; Turbo; Cream 133538

133538m.JPG

Apparently released in 1984. I never seen either before.

In the 1970s they did a big range of 1/66 scale models that turn up from time to time.

Interesting - I had an example of the cream-coloured MG Metro Turbo (sold on here many moons ago during a hasty clear-out - sadly no better pic seems to be available), but the Castrol racer was unknown to me.

IMG-20180426-WA0065 31 May.png

As a 1984 release, possibly it was only a very short-lived version since Mettoy and Corgi were having all sorts of exciting* talks with receivers and creditors around that time.

Picked up one of those annoying charity shop bags today, as I spotted a few interesting* things lurking within

PXL_20250120_124457441.thumb.jpg.8ccb56d28ceaa0f0ccafe387d96117fa.jpg

PXL_20250120_124502362.thumb.jpg.824041936c3c04e2c92ef88e590c2af3.jpg

One of the more unusual colours I believe. There were also two recent premium Hot Wheels, although they've picked up a few chips so I'll probably just raid the wheels off them

PXL_20250120_123938188.thumb.jpg.c54f3226ee88cb88acd97e8058367fe2.jpg

PXL_20250120_123913648.thumb.jpg.569d5f9d9c5faa3e7e57093ea2a3e230.jpg

Annoyingly it seems you can no longer remove the tyres so painting the wheels just got a lot harder.

There was a Zamac release from the 5 pack set that hit the shops about 6 months ago in another bag, so junior obviously had fairly well off parents to be buying all these and giving them to charity shortly afterwards

Presumably, the Metro "Turbo" still had "MiniMetro" cast into the bootlid. If so, that's the kind of market-led desperation and cynicism I really admired in Corgi during the 80s.Show Reply

This got lost by Evri but has eventually landed. Very tidy Speed Kings Miura.

Just needs the louvre robbing off a worse example

I put a bit of clear over that dyed Proton, and it's made it go weirdly patchy. I'll try the same technique on one that's shiny to start with and see what happens

Why on earth would someone make up something like that  - what an absolute trumpet 😂

He said it like that's the reason why it was only a quid, it would be more but I'm doing you a favour.

He's the Swiss Toni of 1/64 he could get a whopping £1.50 to the right buyer.

It gets stranger the more I think about it. Why would anyone fit a different sun roof and how without cracking it open?

Who would care? 😵

This I’m afraid is typical of some car boots these days, dreadful people that cannot help themselves but talk nonsense, it’s almost like a tic for them. Nothing to say ‘got to think of something to say… think fast’. One told me in his wisdom that if it didn’t have a metal base it was worth nothing at all. 😂 Wise words!!

I’ve gone to car boots since I’d be out the pram, up until about 10 years ago it was fairly normal people just going to pick up some tools, stuff for the kids, books etc. Lately though it’s become like the municipal dump, desperate people aggressively haggling over 30 pence and people attempting to sell things from Poundland for a 150% profit. Also where are all these paste tables full of second hand professional tools coming from? Finding a good car boot now requires travel and research to find.

But he gets up every Sunday morning for 5 years at 4:30am to drive out to a field to try and get £100 for it. 😂

It’s like those guys that got every week with their collection of Days Gone By still on the box, probably selling one a month, paying £10 to pitch every week. You’d just tip the lot and move on with your life wouldn’t you! We’ve all made poor investment decisions at some point, you cut your losses and move on. 😂
