I remember getting one of those Corgi Hunters for birthday/Christmas as a kid - I spent ages religiously applying the transfers to the exact right places in accordance with the diagram.  IIRC the wheels could be interchanged with the similarly equipped Rover P6.

Me too!

However I also remember looking at a "Good Motoring" magazine my dad had and being a bit confused when I saw what it should look like

Mark1217Hunterimage01.jpg

It was still one of my fave toys though

I repainted my Spot on Austin 1800 to like another competitor from the same magazine as well and I still have most of it!

I'm kind of torn between keeping it as it is and restoring it to how I intended it to look!

It won't happen just yet as I'm currently obsessed with Dinkys and I've been repainting some cheap/scrap Cortinas in Lotus livery

IMG_0025.JPG.808ff34c2f017b0f9b5df48455ec714e.JPG

The Mk2 is missing one axle set of wheels so if anyone has a set they can let me have I'd be very pleased otherwise I'll put something completely different on it. The Mk1 just needs some seat backs and I can get them from Mr Flowers.

IMG_0026.JPG.a20e61acec4c7ce1dfa5f3dfb3854849.JPG

I ground out the bumper (Mk1) to replicate the Lotus look and filled the roof spotlight hole.

IMG_0027.JPG.abec936c57df46394e770eacc4ba6e0d.JPG

It was only after I'd painted it I remembered I could fit a Corgi Lotus twin cam engine as i have one laying around so I'll be grinding it down and hoping not to ruin it!

Funny enough the Pioneer Ferrari was the only one I kept

More truck projects on my workbench at the moment.

First one’s a rarer truck in this country. A Dodge 300/C38.
These were originally built by Spanish company Barrieros who were later taken over by Chrysler Europe who continued making them and updating them through the 70’s. Small numbers of them found buyers in the UK from the mid 70’s onwards. Eventually when Chrysler pulled the plug on its European business Renault took over the commercial vehicle side and updated them again and sold them with Renault branding.

Something like this is what I fancy!

Spanish Dodge C38

I fancied having an early style tractor unit version which isn’t available off the shelf so I got a pair of partwork donors.

IMG_5366.jpeg.a7cac81be6bf153840b714c070126a8c.jpeg

They look very similar but the bulk tipper cab is the early style, whereas the artic is a late version.
Stripped down and with a heap of parts needed.

IMG_5368.jpeg.c9627c3f7f8a2e00803d19c7c5738489.jpeg

Mock-up with a spare trailer.

IMG_5376.jpeg.c480486c76e95f3b9478fefedc50f3a2.jpeg

It wasn’t anywhere near as simple a conversion as I’d expected! All the mounts for the cab were different and it took quite a bit of cutting about to get everything fitted right for the early tractor unit.
I decided I liked the original colour scheme of the cab so tried to save it. T-Cut was used on a cotton bud to gently buff off the old Spanish logos but unfortunately the blue stripe came away with them so I had to repaint that. I didn’t have the same shade blue either so it’s just how it is!

IMG_5409.jpeg.e48fec24df91606cace58cd7cd4b169c.jpeg

Still a few bits to finish like removing the SP logo from the bumper, paint out number plates and touch up the white above the screen where a sun visor was fitted. There’s a hole in the roof too from a little sign lots of Spanish trucks seem to have, but I’ll cover that with some air horns I’ve got laying around from another project.

This ones on the go too.

Started out as a Saviem/Renault box truck. Cab is now a salvaged Dinky Bedford TK on the Saviem chassis & wheels with a custom made box body.

Which will become a BT cable jointers utility truck like this one.

BT Bedford TK

Must have been one of the lightest chassis variants for the TK cab. Weirdly they left a big gap between cab and box body for engine access. Nobody else seemed to bother with that!

Honest opinions chaps…

Are people that interested in me posting these sorts of models on here?

Only reason I ask, I just feel sometimes I’m treading on toes a bit putting them up in this thread and they’re not really what the threads about???
Or would it be better to just do my own models thread?

I love them - I'm blown away by your ability to take toys and models and reshape them into something new and original.

Very much appreciate the photos of each build, and the finished result!

It's a diverse crowd on here in terms of our individual passions, but I'd see your work as very much Shite in Miniature, so deffo keep it here.

I always enjoy seeing people's restos and customs. I've not done any for ages because I have a huge list of outside jobs to work through, so I've tried not to get sidetracked doing diecasts. Still buying them though

I went to a boot sale the other week and it was pretty quiet. Maybe it’s summer holidays?

Didnt realise they made the Prairie as a graffic traffic.
That little Minor is indeed intended for model railways, there’s a few colour variations and some other models too, Austin Devon, Ford Consul etc.

Ah, I always wondered what the sign was actually for. Lots of the artics and drawbar trucks in that Spanish collection of models trucks seem to have them fitted but I couldn’t find out why!

Box a bit tired, car looks spotless - there was only one pic of the car, still in the box, in the listing

Hang on, it's not a Polistil at all!

Well that's odd. Probably a better find than a Polistil but I'm slightly confused now!

I'd say the Tomica is a lot more desirable than the Polistil, yeah.

I could see straight away that was a Tomica. They just look more solid and heavier than any other contemporary model.

The polistil looks and feels a lot lighter due to more plastic being used in the construction.

And maybe it was a three way swap and the Tomica box buyer will get a Solido version, and the Solido buyer will get the Polistil?

When sold I got £50 for my boxed Tomica, the Polistil made £15, the blue Solido made £20 and the Solido Hi-Fi £10.

I've been to a few auctions were stuff is wrongly boxed. One that comes to mind was an auction with a big collection of Brooklins. I found 10 that were mixed up between different lots and let the auctioneers know of their mistakes. I managed to convince them to swop a couple, but just avoided the lots were the wrong cars were still in the wrong boxes. It always pays to go to the auction and view before bidding, as it happens a lot when a large collection has been in and out of boxes during it's life. I have a couple of large boxes full of models awaiting the arrival of another wrongly boxed model to do a box exchange.

It happens a fair bit with model railway stuff too, especially if it’s something like a mk1 coach that has lots of variations. The label might say one thing but if it’s an estate clearance or something most people won’t know the differences so just shove what looks about right in a box that labelled about right and punt it off to auctions or eBay. You’ve got to be a bit careful sometimes as what it’s listed and labelled as doesn’t match what it exactly is.
Sometimes though you can keep quiet and get a bargain that way if you have a good look first!

Ah, I always wondered what the sign was actually for. Lots of the artics and drawbar trucks in that Spanish collection of models trucks seem to have them fitted but I couldn’t find out why!

The strange thing is I cannot find any information on them. No name or when the requirement was withdrawn.

El triángulo amarillo dentro del cuadrado azul, indica que lleva remolque.
El cuadrado amarillo, indica que tiene autorización ese vehículo para superar la altura máxima permitida

The yellow triangle inside the blue square indicates that the vehicle is towing a trailer.
The yellow square indicates that the vehicle is authorised to exceed the maximum permitted height.

The image at the start shows a cab with both  signs. That something new to me a yellow square is different to the yellow triangle. I do not know what the permitted height was and I still cannot find what the name of them is. I expect they were withdrawn just after Spain joined the EU.

Interesting. I wonder why they bothered!? We didn’t really do anything like that here. I suppose the EU didn’t see it as a worthwhile thing either!
