These arrived from the UK this week.

I only wanted 1 of the 205's so bought 2 and  have now sold the rest on to cover the cost.

Thank you all for sharing Tat Friday with me.

Cheers, Tim, for your services to tat-botherers the nation over. Above and beyond the call of.... well, sanity really.

Any of you guys into 1:18s?

I'll quietly put my hand up.

Yes. very much so. Every now and again, I even buy one. They have to be spectacularly good or incredibly cheap to get me opening my wallet these days, though.

That Porsche display unit is fantastic!

Meanwhile...

"On a dark desert highway / Cool wind in my hair..."

Pulled over by the highway patrol!

(The copcar is the new addition, which arrived today from Mr Capriman.  It's the same casting as the Bond car, just in a livery we didn't get on the UK market.)

I quite fancy his chances though in the gold car. Although would the ‘cop car spec’ be enough to overpower the standard civvy version!?😁

The civvy Bel Air would be the standard 350 SBC, at best.  The copcar would have "a cop motor, cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks..." so could easily, for highway duty, be rocking a 454 Big Block.  If you were a police department in the 70s you could almost write your own spec.

Is this why Sherrif Rosco P Coltrane always catches the souped up racing Charger driven by a talented racing driver despite starting five minutes behind?

I wonder if this one was a demonstrator car?
Very very basic livery with no regional markings etc etc. just a single ‘cherry’ light too.

Your black & white car reminds me of something you’d see on Dirty Harry drifting around San Francisco!

Yes, that black one would be a "press fleet" car.  It's something they did back in the day.

San Francisco PD used black cars with four white doors in the early 70s.  They only added the white roof later, probably to piggyback on LAPD's ordering.

Maybe Roscoe was just a much better driver than anyone realised?

It is with a heavy heart that I must* now post this... disclaimer?  Warning?  Ultimatum?

I have a wife, as many of you know, and a marriage operates under Marital Law, a variant of Martial Law in which whatever She says, goes.  In view of today's events, I am instructed to type the following:

Please do not send me any more toys. *  (The asterisk is mine.)

Right, now I've got that out of the way, here's today's event!

100_0592.thumb.JPG.21754f645e65e59f6cafcd9882d03434.JPG

What could this possibly be, that the postman was trying to deliver as we arrived home from taking the dog to the park?

100_0593.thumb.JPG.a335a02ad6941476fba30423d2d7ae6a.JPG

Why it's a CogBox (TM), carefully curated over some weeks by Our Friend In The North.  So what have we got?

100_0594.thumb.JPG.759151ca4eff9acf64f621d838cfde91.JPG

Above, the new arrivals in their boxes, and below: out.

Lancashire doesn't really have Dark Desert Highways but Southport Coastal Road would do, it's pretty desolate!

100_0596.thumb.JPG.0a4c1fb2ba8e1fc0e9fd25bc09782029.JPG

So I thought I'd give the Triumph some good exercise with the larger-engined Vauxhall!

There has also been action in the paintshop, some of it quite long-term.  Behind my display of cars I've owned (or my parents have) there sits a sub-collection of "Others," cars and trucks that I drove at work; cars that friends or other members of my family had; cars I went to buy but didn't; rental cars I've driven; cars that my parents had before I was born.  So into this category falls a fleet of Mercedes owned by my friend Steve and his mother Phillippa, two of which are reproduced here from a new Matchbox and a used Corgi Junior...

100_0597.thumb.JPG.1bf5a882d23e5faf08ebdbfe4bad5814.JPG

And a further Junior represents a car owned by my Cypriot friend Costas, which he said he used through his college years.

A somewhat mangled Matchbox has become Ray Doyle's iconic RS...

100_0600.thumb.JPG.494d3c327317750326092c5f5fe868bd.JPG

And while we're in the Screen collection, let's have Robert deNiro drive us through the streets and tunnels of Paris, shall we?

I already had the 406 thanks to one of you kind gents, and the BMW is a more recent arrival.  Which was white when it got here.

More kindness resulted in a home-made Rover 800 Fastback arriving here...

100_0601.thumb.JPG.5a4916becbdfca0029438199c0645db1.JPG

And further kindness brought me two Matchbox Rovers to make my own, the facelift version I had when my brain tried to escape.

100_0603.thumb.JPG.e56a23b3ec0d6b58cdd8aa8c1eec6b78.JPG

Finally, one of you sold me a rather broken Vanguards Boy Racers Cortina mk2.  I made it a new back bumper (from a large staple!), turned it from a 2dr to a 4dr, found it some wheels (original to the Bond Sherpa van IIRC) and here it is now, representing HWM 457F, the 1500 Super that was the last car my dad bought new, in September 1967 just as the 1600 X-flow was coming to the showrooms.

So finally, let me reiterate...

Please do not* send me any more cars!

But Merry Christmas to those who did :)

Brilliant stuff Eddy! And I’m sorry for helping land you in hot water😆

But, you’ve got one mother of a collection so it’s not all bad!

Merry Christmas!

Has your camera got macro setting? It will help the focus on near items.

Nice selection by the way, and those Rovers look good.

Thank you; I've been trying to find such a setting.  You're seeing the results.

Meanwhile, on a Dark Desert Highway (can I TM that, d'you think?)  some Lancashire officers are on a training mission with a neighbouring* force...

100_0608.thumb.JPG.1aedb0cf2368b2a92adbe1942fa3ab6f.JPG

So they go out on patrol together...

Some local miscreant is trying to make his escape in a stolen Mustang...

So the Lancashire boys introduce their brother officers to the concept of a TPAC!

I won this on ebay for 99p. I didn't realise until I got a message from the seller that it's our own @brammy777

I have a couple of these, says Hot Wheels on the base but Made in Italy and 'Escala 1/43' so very Italian. Was the maker formerly Mebetoys? I seem to recall there was a Dinky connection somewhere too, or maybe that was Solido.

I got the 1/24 scale Italia '90 Uno for Christmas in 1990 from my Granny and Grandpa, which I still have in its box with my other Bburagos. I recall opening it whilst in bed as I was unwell for quite some time then with a virus of some sort which my body had a reaction to, making my neck and knees swell up like balloons. The things you remember!

I also had the 1/25 Hot Wheels version for a time.

Pictured next to a 1/43 Saab, the scale is marked as the same but its certainly generous.

Anyway, I'm right pleased with this one and it will go well in my Bburago/Polistil et al corner.

Here's a couple of Mattel Mebetoys I've had.

Alfa Romeo Giulietta

Very basic, as all diecast was in the 1980s.

DSCF3382.thumb.JPG.b57df954817a4ec9062aaf3afe811bab.JPG

Does have opening doors for a bit of play action

Both Mattel and Mebetoys on the base

DSCF3385.thumb.JPG.4fbadc86665d8b25cde21a3ca4f5dd66.JPG

The other is a Ferrari 312 PB

DSCF3392.thumb.JPG.4d402d909a494f7f1192e2407227a6b3.JPG

There's a bit more detail on this one

DSCF3387.thumb.JPG.1f1b5e9762ce2284766f84daf6cc83e0.JPG

I think it has had accessory decals put on as they did come with sponsor decals normally.

DSCF3388.thumb.JPG.519b1a4dc91b2970414303da110b4c48.JPG

Also it could have been messed around more than just the decals as it has gold wheels on the front and silver on the back.

DSCF3389.thumb.JPG.c254792952fe9fc98b13f2291f8e110d.JPG

Again Mebetoys and Mattel on the base

I have a Volvo 343 that has the same wheels as above, with a metal axle but it's branded as a HotWheels.

The Uno however, and a BMW 635 that I have had since I was a very small child, are different. Again both badged as HotWheels, the Uno wheels are mounted on plastic pegs but it still has a separate base and interior. The BMW has the same wheel set up but no separate base, just the inverse interior shapes underneath. Neither have any opening features.

Posted

Yes Mebetoys, there was a bit of discussion about these recently after I overlooked one at the boot sale.

The later ones all have the peg mounted wheels, not the greatest quality really

The earlier stuff is much, much better

This is my favourite

2023-12-23_06-23-55.thumb.jpg.11008556b70402e82db0bede202e477b.jpg

But I'd really love to get my hands on some of the large scale versions of classic Hot Wheels they made - big money for good ones these days
