Too late now, but shame you didn't say earlier as I'd have bought one from you rather than on ebay! However I would say that anyone not sure about it that they are really nice and well worth getting at this excellent price...

Buy the remaining two?  Ready for your forthcoming Solido Renault car transporter?

I could then let you have the red one back here, restore that and you could then complete the whole top deck.  It just might work!

Was surprised to read that bit!  Shirley not.

Found out the rough but complete one back here and ran it up for the RR Club Lunch at Horse Guards

They got in the way and were told quite harshly to shuffle about and park elsewhere, so:

Front row L>R: MB Silver Shadow, MB Silver Shadow Coupe, HW Silver Shadow, Lone Star Silver Cloud III.
Back row: MB Silver Spirit, MB Phantom V, Tri-ang Minic Bentley Continental (invited RAF guest), MB FAB1 (invited celebrity guest speaker)

It was a FAB lunch.

Yet another episode of “what shite have I bought on ebay?”

Not sure I can blame any one individual addict on here this time, just that I like Volvos generally and I seem to have started collecting Matchbox SuperKIngs although the scale of them is very variable to say the least.

Both in pretty good nick, the red one has a bit of the front bumper missing (only just noticed!) and the tailgate won’t open (not sure why) but pleased with them anyway.IMG_7738.thumb.JPG.89b45fa429748e7c7f3bb7e4b4e9bec4.JPG

In the box was a sheet of number plate stickers, so you could create your own personal xenophobia campaign, aged 8.

I like those Superkings 245’s, the shape of them looks pretty good to my amateur eye!
Both mine are the red versions, although I do intend to repaint one of them at some stage. The front bumper is sprung, if you roll it into something it’ll bounce off.

Heres one of mine doing what Volvo’s were born to do.

PCH 015 will be Swedish.  The Spanish country-ID plate would say E (Espana) not S (Spain).  But top spotting on the others!

As for why they're RHD: not a clue, sorry.  But they are a lovely model.

Nope not got that or the Lone Star. Was offered the HW years ago when doing some illicit dealings in a car park with a guy from FB marketplace, I'd only just met the Mrs and she thought I was buying drugs! Nope just toy cars

Well, yes and no...

On the plus side: a brightening sky and the Corolla Of Good Fortune furtively disgorging its wares on double-yellows.

IMG_20231006_0727312.thumb.jpg.3526d8972327ef716bdad717c176cf3a.jpg

On the downside: no Market Blokey, for reasons still unclear.

IMG_20231006_0728352.thumb.jpg.ca50a7a2102cf396c8314a7d7539869a.jpg

Leaving myself, Nemesis, and a few others from Club 7:30 standing around looking a bit awkward-like.

Much disappoint, such sads.

Nemesis also confided that it's kinda blown a hole in his day.

Glad it's not just me, then...

BUT - it's not the only stall in the market.

Paddy's Antiques is still hawking the same tatty stuff at god-loves-a-tryer prices:

IMG_20231006_0733362.thumb.jpg.45dab03496496cb25774191ac88cfef5.jpg

Paddy must be held in high celestial esteem for his £25 scratched Lesney King Size, but I'm not sure his customers are quite so convinced.

Meanwhile, Alan was seemingly still a-bed...

IMG_20231006_0733102.thumb.jpg.10524a5582381de430eb1b5b19aaaf17.jpg

But what's that on Colin's Irish Tat stall?

So, the elusive (to me) Real Riders Premium Volvo 142 for a tenner. Hmmmm

Well, it's good to see some Hot Wheels Premiums in amongst the mainlines - even if they're not especially cheap.

IMG_20231006_0731252.thumb.jpg.162170968a16819031726093b0be60a5.jpg

Having snapped away, Colin advised that the orange Volvo was in fact sold, with someone coming in to collect it later - but they've been selling well, so he's going to order in another box of them. Apparently they come in a pack of ten, comprising two of each design - and of course, the Sierra Cosworth has been the popular one everyone wants.

But, if Hot Wheels aren't your thing, there were other delights...

IMG_20231006_0801272.thumb.jpg.40b13a18fb105aa40f85a76a4b39f554.jpg

I'm not sure who makes this collection of 1/43 French 'petits utilitaires', but at £7.50 a throw with a bit of a diorama thing going on, they're not bad.

Quite a bit steeper at £30, but this Greenlight FDNY Dodge van looks pretty good too:

I'd love that Dodge van, but HFM???  No way on God's green earth!

Larry over on the junk stall had a few tinplate and diecast toys up for grabs...

IMG_20231006_0806562.thumb.jpg.ff9a155c409743473290ee43ad76da5b.jpg

Unusual 'Postal Truck' was better on one side than the other and had a semi-collapsed front end, but was good enough for Nemesis to take it on for a fiver (he did, very kindly, offer it to me first - but I'm not travelling the tinplate route for the foreseeable...)

IMG_20231006_0807342.thumb.jpg.8cca4417341b8073ac96500013cddabd.jpg

This Japanese no-name ice cream truck was mostly plastic with a tin back, but other than a missing blanking end to the load box was quite tidy.

IMG_20231006_0807032.thumb.jpg.0f86fac3fe2a9957636a25a68b8931ad.jpg

The friction drive mechanism still worked and all.

Weird Hong Kong 'Hover Rally' seemed to be several toys in one, including some sort of spinner thing on the back for reasons beyond me:

IMG_20231006_0807192.thumb.jpg.9b54f13de6908bdf144a004ec7a7d122.jpg

Lone Star Bedford J tractor unit lacking a trailer, but otherwise alright.

IMG_20231006_0807112.thumb.jpg.70b1e069bb28f012fff4eb2196253fd5.jpg

I didn't take a separate pic of the 1/24 scale Bburago Porsche 959, but it was missing a headlight and I'm sure you're all well familiar with these...

One of the other antiquey stalls did, surprisingly, have some diecast today:

IMG_20231006_0738182.thumb.jpg.c3adaf4793b247918dc081c9657e9d38.jpg

But the Tags Of Doom kinda set the scene.

The fella running the stall (Bobby) advised the prices were 'negotiable'.

Unless he's moving the decimal point, I'm afraid I'm oot.

IMG_20231006_0804102.thumb.jpg.1b14b906089a713b35ffee9ad204251b.jpg

IMG_20231006_0802262.thumb.jpg.ffe53d0f1f7735425d75bea01cbf90f1.jpg

Lone Star beach buggy was a glue bomb, sadly, while the Lesney Field Car in Two-Pack military garb was clean - but priced at £8.

I didn't ask how much the VW camper was...

Dinky Thunderbird 2 was almost complete, with Thunderbird 4 inside and only one missing leg to mar proceedings.

IMG_20231006_0803532.thumb.jpg.a920ef0b71667fcca091d602173960d5.jpg

But I doubt it was cheap either...

A final amble over to visit Alan revealed not a lot...

IMG_20231006_0805252.thumb.jpg.e4d60421caaa0bb8483c4e9f4babd23d.jpg

Meh.

And - just no.

IMG_20230929_0920122.thumb.jpg.4378ea5e063ffeefc95849105517e337.jpg

So, all in all, a rather unsatisfying morning I'm afraid...

...and no scones in the coffee shop either.

IMG_20231006_0812412.thumb.jpg.dcbb0df2959c0107ab6f76768d9f1c5f.jpg

I'm going to be so bold as to presume no-one much fancies any £8 Days Gone, so I think I might head on home sooner rather than later...
