That mk3 in the first pic is the dead-spit of DJA 936Y, my long-gone Cabaret II that I had in 1996.

I’m pretty sure the Vanguards one is a 1.6 Calypso, cardinal red over silver. I think it’s one of the older releases.

Cardinal Red over Strato Silver is definitely right, as is the 1.6 Pinto.  I don't think there was much difference between Cabaret and Calypso; you know what Ford were like with Limited Editions.  Mine had Ghia alloys.  If you spot one cheap enough, would you grab it for me please?

Well York Racecourse classic show came up trumps with the miniature shite and full size shite.

£1 each from 3 different stalls.

I also had a lengthy chat with a bloke with several boxes crammed full of egg cups and six 1/18 scale cars that he'd priced at £100ish each because of the shipping to the UK. The very same that where in Tk Maxx years ago.

The Pickfords Van is almost mint with roller back door. However the pooch in the Jeep has been removed unfortunately.

I have been looking for a Husky Olds for ages that wasn't silly money now I have one.

Is that a Simca in the front row, first pic? Who makes that?

Nice haul there👍

Crikey, that's a great haul!

Do love a Husky Olds myself, and that's a nice one. Majorette Simca 1100s seem to shed their paint for fun, but your looks to be in very decent nick for a quid.

Don't think I've ever seen a Corgi Fox-body Mustang in all orange before - I'd one with an orange plastic base and a white painted metal body, and another with a black plastic base and an orange painted metal body.

Good hunting!

Yeah is a Majorette. I do like it when the headlights are translucent.

I didn't know the hatch opened.

I think I scored a Majorhaulette! (No that didn't work did it)

There was black base and orange body in the rummage box. I did a double take when I saw the orange on orange combo.

Had a splashdown myself today - a mystery box of wonders from across the sea:

IMG_20230928_1528012.thumb.jpg.ebbb028cffe44bd9c580a7308ad213e4.jpg

Boing! A triptych of tat, courtesy of @FakeConcern.

Lesney King Size Mercedes ambulance is tired, but complete bar a tyre.

IMG_20230928_1529432.thumb.jpg.9c09a21daa2ae6ef51d6a793c9331725.jpg

However, I'm not sure if it's so knackered that I can justify busting it open to fillet its glazing unit and wheels for my otherwise very tidy example.

Still, it gives me something else to prevaricate about for the next decade or so.

Trans-o-lite action Corgi Commer PB crew pickup is nice, though.

IMG_20230928_1528382.thumb.jpg.fe6f31386a9b776a0db475767f924733.jpg

Despite some (very neat) touching-up of the paint, it still looks like an authentically worn original.

IMG_20230928_1528442.thumb.jpg.7c4880d7aff29512dcb5e9d1ab3d537b.jpg

Crew bench still in place in the back, too.

Since I've now got several of these (I think this might be no.5), I was expecting to be able to indulge myself in some hot and heavy body-swapping action; but no!

IMG_20230928_1528502.thumb.jpg.1ccb4b1f2e2462c7ec78c578ea7f8d5f.jpg

This one isn't like all my others, with their little turny-clasps on the base to release or retain the rear body. No, it's all been sealed at the factory.

Never mind - it's still great!

But of course, the real show-stopper here is the Corgi 'Santapod Gloworm' Capri funny car.

IMG_20230928_1528122.thumb.jpg.67e24193c5865475df4ce385143cd72d.jpg

Although I've seen one or two of these before, they've usually been pretty trashed.

IMG_20230928_1529002.thumb.jpg.5efc805298ddc104cd00b6d97e924947.jpg

This one's been well-used, but not really abused. The paper stickers are showing evidence of their 50+ years, but the paint isn't bad.

IMG_20230928_1529222.thumb.jpg.d60a5e41d0ecde8f6a8d3cd99a55b1f3.jpg

I think the body's only meant to hinge at the back, rather than come straight off - a bit of warping at the hinge seems to have occurred.

I could try bending it back, but my track record on this kind of work isn't exactly stellar.

So I might leave it.

It's very nicely engineered though, with a pivoting spring-loaded catch at the front keeping it altogether.

IMG_20230928_1529132.thumb.jpg.a8887c3cc8d6b55f3c7ea764d8cec3e7.jpg

While I didn't have a lot of time to play with it today, I think I'll be coming back to it before long...

All in all - GR8 CELLAR WUD REKOMMEND

Cheers, dude!

Great, something else to find! Didn't know that was a thing...

Got orange/orange and orange/yellow Mustangs, not got a black base.

While we're on the subject, someone asked me for a yellow one but I can't remember who! It'll go in the sell pile if no-one's interested

I was a (semi) regular at the York racecourse toy and train fair, circa 1994-97. On reflection, it was a good father/son bonding experience, as my Dad took me along and then decided he'd like to start collecting Mercedes (but only in black, his favourite Benz shade!) and Royal Mail stuff, for some reason (coincidentally, I became a driver for Royal Mail in York, a few years later).

I sold almost all my diecast wares to emigrate in 2010 but last year, I rediscovered an often thought about but presumed sold item, languishing in my parents loft. It's now sitting on my living room bookshelf here in NZ and is well overdue some photos.

If the fair is still being hosted on a Saturday, make sure to head to the car boot sale literally around the corner, behind the racecourse, as it's a bloody good'un (runs until late October). A few items from last year's car boots also came home with me and two are also on the bookshelf!

Well then... a reminder that the mornings are maybe taking a little bit longer to get started this time of the year, but dawn still comes.

IMG_20230929_0722222.thumb.jpg.279d06e9d815a24266846eab67d7d95b.jpg

Not many leaves on the ground, but the tree canopies are looking a little thinner, somehow.

IMG_20230929_0723322.thumb.jpg.68a7199f7b7d8ca6dd13c720d3b1b568.jpg

But we know what we're here for.

IMG_20230929_0724252.thumb.jpg.a9591435962d9175a41f66e0acb87e39.jpg

And so do all these folks, apparently. Club 7:30 is seemingly welcoming new members.

Nemesis was ahead of me once more, and setting out the dregs of the Lledo-era Vanguards on the rickety camping table while Market Blokey added some of the Corgi Classics commercials that we've previously seen.

IMG_20230929_0726402.thumb.jpg.80e48b2d6a449a5946c37563fe8b3f0c.jpg

Mmm... just the commercials left, then.

Up top, on the main stall, were some large tinplates - Tri-ang, maybe?

IMG_20230929_0724562.thumb.jpg.86afb8f1c350e2e0e379210fcdc5d523.jpg

There was also this Tri-ang train set; plastic, but quite nicely detailed and seemingly complete.

IMG_20230929_0724532.thumb.jpg.5cba6345218474d7f1ff9f2ca5e5e423.jpg

IMG_20230929_0803102.thumb.jpg.0acf56d5fba196ba3e0b5a42818f0b48.jpg

And also a lot of motoring-themed books:

IMG_20230929_0725042.thumb.jpg.314b98dc97c5cb943ac47160faea3390.jpg

Like, a lot of books.

IMG_20230929_0747512.thumb.jpg.363d6955a09cc84ea9e474a0e9628496.jpg

Many of which were titles I've owned in the past - the sort of Colour Library Books publication I would have been over the moon to receive from my grandparents for like my eighth or ninth birthday.

IMG_20230929_0726032.thumb.jpg.7a43e530e8d982c477fbc81a52d4ef24.jpg

I definitely had this one, thrilling the younger me with the wonder of Duesenbergs and Cords and pre-war Cadillacs.

How I went from this to a worrying interest in seventies Chryslers and Vauxhalls is anyone's guess.

Also some lovely old magazines:

IMG_20230929_0749252.thumb.jpg.ea921effc5d805e8db187fa97bfd4c05.jpg

I didn't have a chance to flick through them to find out how to make your tyres last for 50,000 miles, as promised by the issue on the right, but I'm going to guess it involved retreading them yourself using a red hot poker from the kitchen range...

But where, where was the tat?

I mean, there were a few Lesney buses kicking about:

IMG_20230929_0809052.thumb.jpg.d56084842b66e714c494e4d9a4666d1a.jpg

But most of the tat today was of the decidedly non-wheeled variety.

Not that a charming novelty money box featuring a mechanism whereby a pig balances coins on its nose before feeding them to a comedy Irishman isn't fun, and all...

IMG_20230929_0808562.thumb.jpg.fa6929714272cfdda574962689bfdc74.jpg

Or, indeed, a toffee tin apparently featuring Theresa May and her 2016 cabinet playing at pirates:

IMG_20230908_0730142.thumb.jpg.619531d1291aca190ed179620d684604.jpg

We're here for diecast, dammit.

Oh, here it is.

Two battery-operated Dinky Mercedes, and a Neue Klasse BMW with working indicators (obvious jokes only, please).

Thames Airborne was actually ok, though a peg had broken off one of the rear doors so I had to jam it back in place.

Dinky Atlas Copco Compressor truck was also a repaint, and not a very good one at that.

IMG_20230929_0911482.thumb.jpg.618dfc69787f6abffc562392885b7d9a.jpg

Fifty of the king's pounds for a mildly politically incorrect artifact, which may be original or may be a reproduction - I couldn't quite tell.

It's very heavy, though.

Yup, Land Rover was excellent - though quickly bagsied by you-know-who, as part of his haul for the morning.

Can't blame him for that.

Corgi Marcos was also very clean, though missing its Golden Jacks wheels.

The white Mini in the case is a Hongwell Cararama job, I'm afraid!

There was a worn but unbroken Corgi Mini in there, but was also quickly Nemesis'd.
