The Daily Telegraph Pirana, I had forgotten all about that......Awesome!

Thanks for that Junkman, your efforts are appreciated.

My comments.

That RS500 front bumper is pretty representative of most so-called RS500*s out there ie a 3 door Cosworth

with an iS spoiler and a Laguna splitter!

The Trident looks great, but talk about a niche model.

The Shadow and Phantom wheels look awful- Dinky and Corgi looked better in the 70's, also 1800TU was I thought, used on post 76 press cars, Shadow1s usually had 100 LG on them. I'm probably wrong.

That Graber coupe is beautiful and makes me want a Three ThosandFive that colour on wires, if that's what effect a 1:43 model has 50 years later, imagine the halo effect the full size car would have had on Rover back then.( and I'm not a great lover of P6es)

Great models, great effort, good work, Junkman!  8)

I am a miserable, grumpy old man, so:

There are so much nice models, so much rare cars, so much glory on wheels. Beside all the mainstream-Porsches.

But many of the cars I like are still not available as models. I know some relatively popular models that never had a diecast-model made.

I am absolutely not interested in the 12th version of a 2CV or the 34th model of a Porsche 911 from the 28th company. But that´s just me.  :?

Apart from a few Rovers I have in the main managed to find a model of most cars. Sometimes you are restricted to a small scale or a plastic kit, that is sometimes the case with older Japanese cars.

What cars are you looking for in model form?

1/18 scale Volvo 740s. There are none and I've failed so far to bag a 1/25 one.

When I worked for a Volvo dealer in the late 80s there were large crude plastic 740 saloons available though the parts dept.

Agreed, only the 240 is available in 1/18.

What I meant was that most cars are modelled in one scale or another. There are 1/22 scale Stahlberg 700s and 6cyl mentioned an even larger one which I have seen in a brochure before. I have a 1/25 scale one.

Andy you might like this starting at 1.99

And I just happen to have a pair of 1/25 scale lhd wipers that I could give you.

I have possibly found one that you cannot get and that's a V70 cross country like FOAD is selling. Plenty of standard ones, 850s and the later shape XC but none of these in any scale.

I have this horrid Corgi, Volvo Turbo, made in Gt Britain.

I presume this was some kind cheap toy. Not sure what scale, but it is 135mm long so if the real car is 4.8m that is a scale 1/36.

I think the Corgi model is fantastic for what it is. I got mine in 1988 and still have it. It is indeed 1/36. Mine is a slate grey colour. They got the proportions spot on imo, especially the lights which other makers struggled with.

Against the chunky Superkings that were my best models up until then, it looked great.

Here is my Polistil 1/25 version which I got for my Birthday the following year. It has a toy plastic border collie lying down in the boot that I kept from my farm as a kid to remind me of our old dog. Which reminds me that it's 30 years this November that she died.

Loads of my diecasts hold sentimental memories, when my dog "went to live on a farm" (I was eight) I got the Matchbox MG1100 from my Mum as compensation.  It had the dog looking out of the back window......Still have it, which is more than could be said of any subsequent pet!

I had that one , that's a grand wee story with yours. I still have a Majorette Fiat 127 with the dog looking out the window!

I have a built up example of this somewhere in the loft. Nice kit, although the wheels need surgery as they stick out too much...

When I was at school, a classmates father bought a new Volvo 340 and he brought in a pair of plastic Volvos (including a 340) he'd been given by the dealer. I think they were about 1/25 scale, possibly made by Emek...not sure.

Stahlberg were the makers of those promotional Volvos you could buy. They're pretty rare but look the business.

Emek are well known for their range of trucks, again in plastic. I had no idea Italeri did a 760 kit though, is it any good?

I've the Corgi Volvo in metallic green and a white one with all the naff 'racing' shit all over it. The Matchbox model was a fairly good depiction, especially the mega rare 'World Class' edition.

I've got the large Corgi Volvo in grey, also a (Dutch?) Politi version.I've got the Matchbox version in silver & grey, the World Class version,& a plain white version. Also a few Majorette versions.Stiil looking for the Siku though, never bothered with the small Corgi as the wheelbase looks wrong.

That Italeri kit looks lovely, wouldn't mind one myself.

I have tried to get a good selection of Volvo 700 models over the years but the larger scale ones are expensive, especially the Stahlbergs.

I have a SIKU one in gold, a slate grey Corgi 1/64 one to match the 1/36 scale example and O used to have a couple of the Matchbox ones. Still looking for a Majorette one.

I used to think that Volvo 340 models were not well catered for (unless you count modern 1/43 examples) however as well as the Stahlberg you can get a 1/24 Hotwheels and also in 1/43. A European maker also produced a 1/64 example, it might have been Guisval.

Here's my 343GL Stahlberg and 1/43 343 by Hotwheels. It's made in Italy so it's probably a rebranded Mebetoys.

Yes, considering it was tooled almost 30 years ago.

There is also this:

Which in combination with the Italeri 760 can be made into a 7xx estate.

You will not find a model of these cars I have owned :

Subaru Leone III

Toyota Camry V2

Hyundai Galloper II

These are only three examples for cars that sold quite well around the world, but have no models made.

I own a Subaru Leone II Hardtop Coupe, a Subaru XT and a Hyundai Galloper I as a model, but not the ones shown above.

Talking of model-less cars, has anyone seen a mk5 Escort that Isn't a Cosworth?

All I can find are the Hotwheels RS2000, which are a bit o the small side but thats it.....

At one point I hat the whole set of Schabak mk5 Scrotes, in 1/43 I had the hatch, cabrio and estate plus the Onion, and had the hatch and Onion in 1/24. Detail is crude tbh, and all bar the cabrio have the 1.8 dizzle engine cast in by the looks

Sadly not got shots of the 1/24 Onion, they do turn up on egay from time to time, and some of the 1/43's even have RHD but with LHD wipers for some odd reason. They do come to bits easily for respraying, hardest ones to find seem to be the estate and cabrio, wished I'd not sold mine tbh

The vast majority of the cars I owned were never made as models and likely never will.

I'm actually quite proud of that.

I bought your old hatch from you and also a Scorpio saloon. I swapped the latter for a Bburago Renault 14.

Could you work out why?

In my case, these cars were quite successful almost all over the world. Ok, not very collectible or sought after by car-guys,

but I don´t think the old Escort Mk 5 Estate is such a big number with car-freaks.

Neo makes a lot of unusual cars in 1:43, but I just can´t figure out why some cars are completely ignored. I wrote them

an email, but they never responded.

Today's buys at dinner time... a whopping 50p

The Model A van is a funny one, probably code 3, never seen another like it.
