Holy crap, I hate to be all dramatic but I have to know more about the Type 3 fastback! I had an identical one in 1:1 scale and would love a model.... What brand is it?

The Otto Renault 16 TX is just TEH_SEX isn't it. They really are good.  Some nice stuff there, nice collection.

Posted

I'm actually not too keen on the OTTOs what with no opening features and no underpinnings.

I might use the TX-specific OTTO parts on a Norev R16 one day.

Posted

No, I'll give you that, its a shame that they don't have opening bits but then if they were done in diecast rather than resin then they'd have to make vast quantities to make it economic and a lot of the stuff they do wouldn't be viable I imagine.

Posted

You are absolutely right. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have the models at all.

I'm still toying with the idea to use the OTTO TX for pimping a Norev TL, though. Depends on how well the grille fits the Norev, really. Everything else is easy to adapt.

Thanks.... I shall start to hunt out a Minichamps Type3 :-)

Damn it! So they're now cheaper in the UK than here?! (about £2.30)

I'm visiting the UK in 2 weeks, I hope the local poundland has some left!

Something to get Vulgalour all excited! A fine orange wedge new from Oxford Diecast.

Also new is this Triumph 2500, with an Allegro estate and Mk1 Fiesta due later this year

I've made a proper shite Crapi - council estate pov spec in beige with tidemarks and rust.

Saw the pre production Fiesta and 'Aggro last week and they are splendid. Theres some really good stuff due from Oxford over the next few months.

I'm just hoping Oxford will eventually make models in a scale even I can see without looking through coke bottle bottoms.

I read your post about the Crapi on RMweb and thought you should be on here

Finding these little things in a charity shop for 25p was a nice surprise. There was a basket full of shite cars like this, cheap things not particularly well put together, but really well detailed! Other highlights were a 280Z, fox body Mustang, weirdly proportioned Mk1 Golf GTI, Chevy Bel Air wagon, FC RX-7, godawful attempt at an XJS, etc. All in weird colours more akin to cheap toys than my selections.

Never thought I'd find a toy early model CR-X. The plastic base goes up the sides to form the grey trim (and save metal), and the back has the lights and CR-X badge moulded in! Beige interiour also wins. The axles are really short, though.

Nice little 240Z.

Late model RX-7, there's a bit more to this model than the other ones. Wheels look good, it's the kind of thing that'd be 49p in Tesco if you were too tight to buy Hot Wheels.

This is my favourite one - Fiat 131 Abarth! Didn't expect to see this at all, it's quite nicely detailed for a little thing, and it even has the Alitalia stripes and 'FIAT' on the grill.

Now I need to get to a Poundland and see if they have any of those Lada police cars...

I'm also on the lookout for some kind of model Dolomite (pref. not Sprint) if anyone knows of any.

I think there was a Dolomite in the old (pre Hornby) Vanguards range a few years ago. Possibly part of the Hidden Treasures range?  Very much obsolete now but toy fairs / eBay might turn one up.

I had a green Sprint made by Vanguards about 10 years ago, but I've not seen any since. Hidden Treasures ones etc come up on eBay now and then but I'm not keen on them. That yellow one on the previous page is quite nice, actually. There's a white Vanguards 1850 on the Bay as I speak, but I don't like the fact it's white.

Here are a few 1/43 obscurities...

A Lada Samara which I've had since early 90s:

And a farily recent SEAT Malaga (by Altaya who seem to model quite a few chod greats)

A few more here, but mostly not too obscure.  The Clio and Fuego (far right - an 80s kit which hasn't been built) are probably the most obscure ones model maker wise.

My model shelves have gotten a damn sight pikeyer this morning; popped up to the local second hand toy emporium and managed to pick up, amongst other things, a mint/boxed Siku Ford Cargo beavertail (which now sports a Mk2 Cavalier saloon as a load), a similarly sized Siku Merc 814D tilt/slide (now with added Volvo 480) and a 1:36 scale Playart Mazda pickup thing; never seen one of the Mazdas before but it looks snazzy as.

Posted

Hey those sounds grand. I've got the Siku Cargo but its a 6 wheel artic with a low loader and copter. I pretend it's a Cummins engined 3828 twinsteer.

Incidentally, my heavy heart has been propelled by the scrapping of my Vectra into selling a metric shitload if my diecast collection at the local car boot sale. I shrewdly chose the same day to pitch up as the local model car swapmeet so the traders were all there. The Vanguards were 2 quid, Vitesse 3 and 1/18s (shitty 90s Bburagos and Maistos) at 4 quid. They sold astonishingly fast for a place that was otherwise filled with hopeless tat. I have now booked a table at the swapmeet for October to sell my better stuff. I'm just keeping the carsthat I now have on display together with the the great and the good that habe good memories attached.

I spotted the HL Princess that Oxford have on a seller's eBay but stopped myself from buying it at the last minute for some reason...  Can't think that there was a good reason for this decision, I've been after a decent HL model for a while now.
