Jeep FC is an unusual choice to model - other than the Corgi version of the 1960s, I can't think of many other toy representations of this vehicle.

Matchbox might be in-house, but theirs is a different casting

Ah, interesting - I haven't seen either of those Moving Parts releases before.

Kinda like them too, now...

There's been a number of transporters on the last few pages. Any interest in this FOC (or make a small donation to the forum funding)?

The Matchbox one is intended to be utilitarian but the 2023 70th re-colour does smarten it up I think.  Official model name is '61 Jeep FC-170 which is wrong, as the 170 was the long-wheelbase variation, which the model clearly isn't.

MovingParts2023-35_1961JeepFC-150.webp.bd06be5dc3a5c226e144df8a785bc68c.webp

Whereas the Hot Wheels is intended to be an off-roader sport truck thing with a mad Dodge Heliphant engine fitted amidships.  Just look at the differences!  Apparently it was intended to be named Jeep FC Custom and not sure why they didn't. '57 Jeep FC is the assigned model name.  Oh... I can see there being arguments and confusion in the far future

2023NM-45_29.JPG.webp.612c60fd836004101d99971b644b95db.webp

Apart from the Corgi Toys Forward Control Jeep FC-150 efforts from the 1960s we know so well,  modelled to a scale of 1:44 (Cleemput) during 1959-65 and sold 536,000 of them

118566-1.thumb.jpg.567ce422937d004bc55be5cc0d5a2959.jpg

That's far in excess of the real thing that just managed 30,000 over 9 years of production in its home market.  It was considerably more successful in international markets, being built under license in India and Spain.  Which is likely why there was a longer-wheelbase die-cast effort by Maxwell (India) as the Mahindra Jeep FC 160.  This is a restored example

Mahindra was still producing the Mini Bus variation into the 1990s

tzu3a8m1n6w91.jpg.d8504a5b65d9051da1fef097f284b0e6.jpg

Whereas VIASA (Spain) did a full restyle for their Jeep SV model until 1980

Spain-JeepSV.webp.46ba1a96826d77a2ca44e35f1d7373a0.webp

Which was modelled in a limited run in resin, at 1:43, by Otera as their Furgón JEEP SV

Not sure how old this ad is, but he's asking £25 collection only for this which is a BARG. Please can somebody help me get it??!?!?

That looks really nice!

My kids live in Norwich and I'll be there on Thursday to help one of them move, maybe I could get it then  If you can arrange to buy it, we can pick it up at some point fairly easily.

I digressed, sorry.  Got caught-up in cubism.  Back to original stylee

Currently available in resin at 1:43 by Autocult is a Swiss Post Office/Telephone livery Willys FC-150 PTT 1956

10919920a.jpg.4b93f60b993389977f6e9b74a7c0e04f.jpg

Previous model run was of their pickup

Going back into time again, back to the 1960s in fact, Comet (Authenticast, USA) produced a diecast FC Stake Mail Truck with a plow, modelled on a real truck in service.  Distributed through Jeep dealers and at 1:25 scale.

CometPostalFC.jpg.865fd23bf7d6ffb676b55ccfc089fbe4.jpg

Auburn Rubber (USA) produced (out of rubber no less) a 1:28 scale (my calculation) Jeep FC pickup, complete with driver and passenger heads in the windows

il_1140xN.4500902166_7tue.jpg.dd4ac963f3ff76fe2c3dcfcedb295590.jpg

Over in Europe, Tomte Laerdal (Norway) produced their 1:43 vinyl model of a wrecker truck complete with sitting figure in the rear, looking lost

NP (Norddeutsche Plastik, Germany) also produced a 1:43 wrecker, in plastic

Smaller at approx 1:65 (my calculation) under the Tootsietoy Midgets range, was a little diecast Dump named Jeep Truck

tootsietoy-midgets-dump-truck.jpg.838811da431c4571f7f4cf23994f4c20.jpg

Smaller still was the plastic EKO (Spain) 1:87 HO scale Willys Jeep FC-150 1956

fc15087.jpg.92e908d6fc53e21db64fbacc4bbc2b9d.jpg

Anguplas (Spain) also in 1:87 HO in plastic in various colours

Everything Forward-Control / Cab-Over-Engine seemed the future, the main selling point being space-efficiency and compactness.  The FC was the first complete new design since the 1940s from Willys and involved designer Brooks Stevens.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two Jeep FC were built to do the 1960 Anglo-African Trans-World Safari.  Modified 170 cab-and-chassis units were shipped to Cape Town from the US.  Then they were built into comprehensive living quarters and equipment fit-out.  Derek Linton from Hampshire led the 9-vehicle convoy.

FourWheelingAroundTheWorld.jpg.8768153aeca1f280b2529b40c069ff7b.jpg

So Corgi created a prototype

It’s in pretty decent condition really, but the paint is extremely faded. Looks like it’s been sat in the sun for a long time.

The Dinky Lincoln were made in GB at 1:43, not one of the 'inherited' Spot-On 1:42 designs

Got this too.
Damaged roof rack and the clear case it comes in was cracked but that made it cheaper. Won’t be needing them though as this will be going in the stripper and joining my SEB fleet!

Oh, nice - Hong Kong-made Dinky?

The Dinky 'Hong Kong Six', designed/produced in Hong Kong during 1964 at the Spot-On scale of 1/42, using Spot-on Wheels, continued production to 1967.  All tooling is believed lost.

The most common find is the Impala.  I happen to have two of those.

The most valuable, in any condition, seems to be the Oldsmobile.  As a result, I don't.

I’ve only got 1 and 3. Although I did nearly get a really nice 6 a few months ago but some bum hole sniped me at the last second.

Oh!  You wore sparkly evening dresses on jobs under your overalls did you?  Well I never

tswlm_leyland14.jpg

Major Anya Amasova (Barbara Bach) just rang, to confirm you did.

Only when it was a bit warm out though, she said.

Poundstretcher continues to stock up with some pricey-ish older Matchbox longcards:

IMG_20231031_1735502.thumb.jpg.c237adb7c03ed4ab860b3d0b8a74821f.jpg

Think these are at least a couple of years old now.

IMG_20231031_1738122.thumb.jpg.3c2b426be927fb04b0f30f05597c1bcf.jpg

Also some early 2023 boxed ones, which I kinda like more than the blister card examples:

IMG_20231031_1736012.thumb.jpg.721a6da7676f1eac5579d840bfec9078.jpg

I guess they remind me of the Lesney era ones from my very early memories.

IMG_20231031_1737312.thumb.jpg.201bfbafe292be2067306ac44425b5e4.jpg

Plus, easier to store.

I'm hopeful that in a few weeks these will all be OMFG HALF PRICE!!! and then you can all see how abysmally weak-willed I am.

IMG_20231031_1739482.thumb.jpg.e985d7a26575e152f43af39b7064fa22.jpg

Oh, and there was a Super Chase Corvette there too. Anyone want it?

I also reunited Friday's Super Kings K-24 Scammell Container Truck with a plastic box container I had lying around.

IMG_20231031_1517222.thumb.jpg.7b7a96612f41b97a19c02c2a9c2b1965.jpg

Rather like the earlier all-metal LEP container version, the box sits quite high on this - but I still like it.

IMG_20231031_1517312.thumb.jpg.a9f4613eebd9372442af137a17ccd68f.jpg

It's not in perfect shape, but I reckon it's clean enough.

IMG_20231031_1517402.thumb.jpg.744e41cc093d3eefda4d9a311bafb5fd.jpg

I do love the paint on this one. Very lustrous.

IMG_20231031_1518062.thumb.jpg.83f0248688625b818ad4acc163c94f59.jpg

The Michelotti styling is just lovely on this. It really is one of my favourite toy trucks.

IMG_20231031_1517492.thumb.jpg.c432c6177cbcf144fae38e50e3cf63ef.jpg

Good to have one again.

I really need to find a Corgi Major Scammell too...

Exciting news, the unit previously occupied by Wilko (RIP) in my town is going to be a One Below - possibly the most southern one? I only see them when I go up the country normally. What with the huge House of Fraser site becoming The Range as of December, I'm going to be spoilt for choice when it comes to die cast hunting. Maybe.

One Below have just shut down their branch in Cumbernauld, but then it was located in the deadest of dead malls.

They rarely had any HM or MB, just those generic Teamsterz cars, which make my teeth itch.
