Shite in Miniature II

A mate has told me about one of his Vanguards baseplate breaking in to 4 pieces yesterday, was his red Marina model. He had noticed the base had started to bow, and it had popped it's suspension springs, so he was going to take it apart to see what's what, as he stripped the model down, it simply snapped into 4. He wasn't a happy chappy

I long had a desire to own a 1:18 Mk3 Capri to go with my 1:18 Minichamps one.

Finally they look like becoming vaguely affordable. Problem though (image from The Internet):

The usually estimable Norev are the only maker that produces them, likely the only one that ever will.

And it looks all wrong!

Sadface.

Their 1/43 Capri is just as bleedin awful that they made for all the partwork mags, exhausts in the wrong place, too slab sided, oversized rear lights....

Westerwald reg is deffo wrong on many levels. Then again, for a Capri...

This one will then be flogged sans box.

Actually... why not just bring it along tomorrow? ;)

And he called my bluff and brought it with him!  Well done Junkman, A++, WUD BY AGEN

of course I bought the R4.

No, you didn't. You would have posted a pic if you did.

Oh yes I did...

Not bad for a quid. I remember back in't day when Bburago 1/43s were 99p, and that was a lot of years ago

That Capri model isn't great.

At least it's not in that dark blue/green colour like most Injections seem to be.

Posted

I've yet to find a satisfactory Capri model and I've had just about all offerings bar the Norev. The Dinky 1/24 example is the only one that's stayed.

Posted

It's also available in burgundy metallic, fjord blue metallic, gemini blue metallic and black.

IIRC also copper metallic, or it's announced in that colour.

The worst thing is, as much as I dislike it, I'll probably still end up buying one.

Checked out my local Poundland but no joy.

I AM DISAPPOINT

Want me to bag an R4 for you?

That Norev Capri was also very good at falling to bits. Windows and lights fell out with very unamusing regularity which is unusual for Norev. They are doing the 280 Brooklands version later this year though from the pictures I've seen the colour looks a country mile out.

It's a real shame. I'm most impressed by Norev gear generally, that CX I bought via Lobster Diecast is a smasher.

No doubt at all that a bang-on accurate resin will be issued some time soon.... but I don't do resin.

I try to avoid is as much as I can, but sadly there are instances when resistance is futile.

That's why I ended up with that terrible BoS '57 Imperial and the rather nice, but in many aspects inacurrate Cult P6 V8.

weve got a different 1:18 scale P6 due in October / November...

This one is diecast (although probably a sealed bodyshell) and is about half the price.

Who makes it? Which colour?

Edit: Found it. MCG #18044. I only hope the side windows aren't only printed foil.

Oh, and it'll be red for a change*. There will also be a rozzer version.

Correct!

Shame in a way that it's red. Quality of the MCG stuff has been pretty good overall so we shall see I suppose.

It's red in tribute to Trigger's entry to the P6 owning fold.

I find their quality a tad meh tbh.

Many have serious issues with the overall shape/proportions, the stance is usually wrong and I rather have no model

than another one with all the side windows and trim being printed cellophane. Their Caprice f.e. is truly horrible.

On the plus side, diecast is a lot easier to repaint, than resin.

It's a bit of a shame, really, the combined effort of both companies could possibly have yielded a proper model.

Found these with my granddad's models, I remember him buying them for me but I must have forgotten about them. Value of the Sierra is somewhat reduced by the fact that my young self wrote "don't throw this box awey [sic] or else" on the back of the box though

Yo.

I'm trying to find a 1:43 Formule kit for the Xedos 6 BTCC car; can anyone help me snag one?

On the subject of model Crapis, even the Minichamps Mk2 has a huge bollock drop, Mk3 rear lights, which is why I haven't bought one, even the Vanguards Mk3's rear lights are too big.
