Top gear plumbs new depths...

I thought Grint was one of these layabout beatniks who seems to think that 'work' is playing percussion in a rythmn beat combo...now you tell me he is an actor! I've known several 'actors' and all of them were indolent catamites! Well, it doesn't really surprise me, I seem to recall the man's hair sits on his collar and he drops his vowels! He needs some character building ...wants working on..borstal....cold showers.....national service...hurumph....zzzzzzzzzzzzz.........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........

"Mr Scooters!....Mr Scooters! ...Wake up Mr Scooters it's time to play Housey Housey again! Oh god, he's gone and shat himself again....Mary! Help here please!"

I know that Peta girl is probably a moron, but you have to admit she is a bit of a stunner. No doubt she is with some knuckle-dragging footballer who will sleep with 50 year old prossies behind her back repeatedly which she will forgive him for.

(Not bitter).

Anyway, what happened in the last TG? I would like to know whether or not it's worth me looking at online?

I thought Louie Walsh was a pop 'impresario' not a builder (unless Mr Ital knows something I don't).

I finally watched the car chase one the other day, it made me laugh, particularly the stuntmen in the Jag and their 'Serbian' accents, which sounded like good old comedy Swedish to me.

I fear Mr Ital has muddled him up with Tommy Walsh. I wouldn't trust Louis to do any building work but maybe Tommy could have a go at Britain's Got the X Factor or whatever that shit's called.

Back to TG - it does seem that every guest in this series so far is only there to plug their latest film/book/whatever and are we seriously expected to believe that car is in the same state of tune every week? There's no way that guy this week could possibly be so much quicker on an icy track than some experienced drivers in the dry. Amber Heard was a definite highlight - I'd definitely watch every week if she was presenting :D

P.S. Is it just me or is May's fashion sense getting even worse? That cardigan/blouse combo was horrific.

Who else after watching tonights episode now wants to go out and buy a Saab?, I wish i had a punt on that black 99 Turbo that was for sale for ages on Retro Rides now!

Mr Ital did happen to get his Walshes muddled up.

As for tonight it was quite good and the Saab piece was pretty interesting as well to boot. To top it off they had some moderate car porn, a silly challenge involving a man with a jet for clothes and a SIARPC that wasn't name dropping some shite film.

Oh and that Saab 99 Turbo looked awesome.

Been tempted and not because of TG..

Likewise.

I thought the TG Saab feature was mostly alright, although it was telling and tediously typical that they just couldn't manage to do it without smashing up an old one.

totally agree, great feature marred by the pointless smashing up of an old Saab and classic beamer.

I think it demonstrated the point very well..................

+1

The point was made well.

They were scrap cars. If they'd driven up in them first, then played it for laughs, it would be different.

The upshot is anyone with a 99 Turbo will be rubbing their hands with glee. Watch values double, watch the best examples leave these shores. But anyone with a 9-5 or 9-3 will be less proud this morning on the way into work. Then work colleagues plonk a copy of Parkers on the coffee table, and grin.

It kind of gets me thinking how much influence TG has on the moronic masses. Like the speight of Marina vandalism that happened - would be rather odd if that was down to drooling TG fans but it was an odd coincidence.

Again, yes, I'll still watch it.

Similar audience demographic, I expect.

Actually enjoying Top Gear  Hammond at NASCAR diving the pace car etc, then off to China. still 3/4 to go so it could go very bad yet.

No idea how old it is!

It's from this series so it's very fresh... this year they've binned most of the childish muppetry and have kept it fairly simple.

I liked the saab section too. A 900 turbo is still on my wish list and has been for a long time. (99 turbo too rare and expensive now)

I owned a 1978 saab 99 GL super combi coupe- that name badge took up most of the tailgate- with the 2.0 version of the triumph slant 4. It was ok but showed its age by revving far too hard at motorway speeds so I ended up giving it away. :(

Odd things to drive if you are a saab virgin. ignition key down by the handbrake, and you have to put it in reverse to take the key out.

I think I might end up with another Saab at some point soon. The Autoshite/RR slag appears to have been scrapped now which is a shame as it was a perfectly good MOT'd running car when I last had it but it was for sale for less than scrap prices so the inevitable happened. I will probably plump for a Turbo too as they are still super cheap. The bootspace in them is amazing but the actual sitting area surprisingly cramped for such a big car.

Oddly I could just take the key out of mine, no reverse gear or anything like that.

It's dead is it? Shame, that was a sound car. At least I've still got the red pliers! As you say, I may find myself owning another one in the future, although perhaps in 96 or 99 flavour.

Posted

I keep looking at Saab's myself as they seem so cheap now, I'm pondering about selling the Mondeo at somepoint and have been looking to see what's about for around £4k and you can get a late fully loaded 9-3 Diesel for that money, are they really that bad?.
