I have finally got this Croma on the road, and am now looking to find it a sympathetic new home...

Its a 1989 Croma 2.0i.e. automatic, 17,000 genuine miles from new with bills to prove, two owners, MOT till Nov 2012, Tax till end July. DRIVE AWAY LEGALLY! Never bumped, welded, scratched, repaired, anything - 100% mint on the bodywork with not a speck of rust ANYWHERE! NOT A SPECK! Paintwork is orignal and gleaming. After a drawn-out recommissioning process (been off the road 7 years) this car is on the road and in use, I did 100 miles in it today and it drives absolutely bob-on. I will continue to use it for the time being so expect the mileage to go up. EVERYTHING works on it from elec windows via central locking all the way to the krazy vehicle check panel on the dashboard. Excellent tyres, new cambelt and fuel pump. The gearbox is a ZF 4HP22 4-speed effort which works perfectly, its got a lock-up feature above 50mph or so, so when you get a bit of speed on it doesnt feel like an auto. 70mph is 3150 rpm so its a fantastic cruiser, much better than I expected anyway. 120bhp I think, not going to win any drag races with it but its quite sprightly (dont think its very heavy for its size).

I am using this car for commuting now, the logbook is in my name and i'm building up the karma with it nicely. I will get it properly valeted this weekend then bosh some more pics up after. Price is negotiable! Buut only if you are stood in front of me or have made the effort to come and see it... For more info PM me or call O78OO 9O2396. The car is in Crewe, Cheshire.

Loads of info about the car in my tat blog as well BTW, check the readers rides thread on R-R if you have not seen it already.

***EDIT: I forgot to put the price!!! Its £995ono.***

Is the powertrain as silent is as a fish? And does it pull like a great? If not, I'm out.

Sorry, I just can't see it happening

Is there a FIAT forum somewhere for older models? I reckon that'll fly out it's a stunning looking car.

I would normally be mega-interested in that, but unfortunately I still haven't managed to escape from this shithole where parking is a crime and vandalism a weekly occurrence.

Can you not get a lockup or something luxo? This is premium low mileage shite of the highest order.

I would like it myself but my dog eat my shoes so I can't leave the house.

The local council are anti-car fascists who don't let any garages out to anyone who isn't a council tenant. The next council up (Barnsley) took pains to find me a lock-up which is about 40 miles away in a village in the middle of nowhere, then promptly stopped communicating with me. I hate my life! :x

You'll probably be able to get a garage in Rotherham mate. £5pw. There's quite a few in broom (near the hospital)

Have you looked on gumtree? There's plenty lockups for rent on there, well up here anyway.

That's a thing of great loveliness Mr B. You are THE DOCTOR and I claim my £5.

My drive is full but GLWTS anyway. Maybe Nigel Bickle will be tempted?

I have...Not much...Currently there's 3 'wanted' ads and one garage on offer, "suitable for a small car (e.g. Clio)".

that is lovely

I didn't know that the 4HP22 could be used in front wheel drive cars

is the engine transverse or hanging out the front like an Audi?

Ooh I forgot about this. Lovely, glad it's up and running. Such a rare beast and especially in this nick.

I'll buy it off you as I've just won the lottery and am currently filling a hangar with weapons-grade shite. Oh, no, wait.......arse.

I drove it 100 miles yesterday and another 100 miles today. Its supa sweet, much less dismal than I expected. its even got a pretty decent heater, unlike all other italian cars I have known. Will do another 100 tomorrow!

Is that technics guy having a laugh or trying to be a wank?

Not sure I want to see proof that he was wrong about the paint...

Oh, and the Croma looks pretty damn good.

I was kinda thinking that it was somebody our Richard knew, and i did remember that Pete joined rr but couldn't remember his user name !

It would make a GR11 daily driver for someone and I'm sure it would go down a storm in South Wales :D

Iss becuzovall det wine yer slurping? Lovely Croma though.

Unfortunate name over here, launched at the same time as a margarine with that name and a rather silly ad campaign...

Good stuff! I did get a bit excited about it and was going to view it on Friday and probably lob a slightly cheeky bid, but it's good to know that there was enough interest in something as obscure and unloved as this!
