What's up wi t'BX Rich?

Mark.

fueling issues seem to have taken a turn for the worse Mark, gravity seems to be quite important to fuel getting into the carb as going up hill serious struggling whereas down hill no problems!

Somewhat over your budget of course  but I would think that you would get that back in savings on fuel and repairs, and it looks genuine with years of life left in it.

My petrol version does 35-40 mpg on long motorway trips and you are still fresh as a daisy after 200 miles. It is manual but it should still prove ideal for what you want. :)

Mazda 6... I've seen a fair few of those with rust issues that would embarrass an Alfasud or Ka. I mean serious rot. Sills, wings, even the roof.

First job will be finding a new rear window or tailgate i think.

lol - obviously I only read that bit AFTER I bid but no matter - still a bargain :D

Mind you I do quite like the idea of having a clear plastic tailgate glass with "T.W.A.Tooters & Sons, Drives Paved, Dogs Castrated, Chips Sold" stuck on the wings in bad cheap letters

At least it's the rear window, I saw a Mitsubishi people carrier thing drive past mine earlier with both nearside windows taped up with a black bin bag!

well,

had a quick look on 'thebay' to see what bargains there were and bugger me if I didn't go and buy a chuffin Ovlov...

Don't think you'll go far wrong with that one :D

looks good - can you drop off the Dormobile at mine on the way home.

it may be a scrappy thing - my local yard Harry Buckland's, Churchdown, had a 740 somewhere in the yard recently

The point i was getting at was non see through bin bags covering the passenger windows, how do you see out of junctions?

lol - last time I had an old space wagon pull out in front of me they might as well have had bin bags on the side windows!

VOLVO DRIFT CAR

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1988-Volvo-74 ... fresh=true

should do the trick!

anyone know the vendor?

I don't know the vendor, but only live 10 minutes up the road if I can help in any way.

im prety sure i saw that Volvo for the last two years at Chipping steam fair. Parked up in the camping bit, he must have used it to tow what he showed. might not be that one, but, cant be many gold ones left in daily towing use.

306 TD?

6 weeks ago there were loads round here for well under 500...if I could find one it would be up there. Same with 406 s

Gone for 740 cos I know the cars and it was 200 with 11 months MOT...I could get more in scrap for that!

Not the best on fuel but not the worst and I can invoice and write some coats off vs tax...

Those big Volvo seats are wonderful on a long journey...

The 200 was the clincher

any idea how much a rear window costs...

I know that they £2500 for me 944 - shock - horror-ford!

Well vendor hasn't come back to me yet.

Still quite a few tail gates around. Looking for a wing as well. Being an old school volvo wings are a 2lt hour bolt on job.

Also need a head lining but need to speak to vendor to find out what is the extent. It might just be a new cloth job in which case it must be brown cord.

One thing about these old barges is they are a joy to work on compared to some. Everything is industrial strength and you tend not to find rubbish plastic components that sh atter when looked at

Headlining sagging was a common thing on these Scoots. Possibly better off trying to staple the original back up if you can. I think 940s had a moulded plastic affair, I expect (lanky)Tim will know whether they fit or not.

If you need a lift from the airport to Bracknell give me a shout, I live about halfway betwixt the 2

My 940 has a cloth headlining, but it's still in place so they might have improved them. They do fit the 740, and the beauty of an estate is that you can change the headlining without having to remove any windows- not that it would have mattered in this case.

How would you fancy a 1994 Granada Scorpio? 2.0DOHC isn't exactly a powerhouse in these but reasonable enough. A little bit of grot on the rear arches, but pah... Otherwise a very tidy old motor.
