  1. Last lass I was with had a bright yellow base model Ka when I met her, and a mk1 MX5 when it ended. Her minimum speed everywhere was 40 and I’d seen three figures in the Ka, it was entertaining* when she drove.
  2. I was told the six pots of that vintage eat HGs for breakfast…
  3. Offer, I’ll move shit for you while I’m out of work. Long as it fits in a Yaris/Civic. Fuel plus a bit. Manchester based.
  4. Yaris T-Sport would work for you.
  5. Yaris now has death wobble. CV probably trashed (been finding time to replace it), a wheel nut has gone and another stud has bent. Wheels fucked. arrrrrrrgh
  6. Long term readers will recall that I live on the side of a moor, and that I’ve had cars escape down the hill before now… hope this is fixable.
  7. Yaris shat its handbrake. Random bang on the M62 then a dragging noise, nothing untoward visibly but no handbrake. Pulled away and all was fine for a bit, then a banging noise for a while, then it suddenly stopped. I’ve just fitted new discs and shoes, wonder what happened. Given it was in motion I wonder if the shoes have come unsprung somehow. I’d say a cable has snapped but I can’t explain how that’d happen on the move.
  8. Argh, the Yaris wheels are too narrow - I briefly had some 15x7 et35 on there and it was spot on. These MR2 wheels are 15x6/6.5 stagger et45, and you can just tell the track feels narrower and the car isn't as planted, and wants to lift-off in the corners. The rears sit way too far in (they do that standard), they need to go down to et35 to fill the arches, so I'll have to space them out 10mm. This is all on the same 195/50/15s too. I'm on the lookout for something slightly lower offset that will counter the issue all round.
  9. I wouldn't expect a pond to have an octane rating!
  10. Yaris. MR2 wheels fitted have finalised the look for now, staggered 6/6.5j with 195/50/15 Rainsports all round. I might space out the rear 10mm when I'm not broke. It still needs a passenger driveshaft, but it's now had: rear beam polybushes (before I got it) rear ARB front strut brace new dampers/Eibach lowering springs all brakes replaced MR2 wheels and tyres stainless exhaust K&N washable panel filter a fancy delrin gearknob OEM under seat subwoofer. At some point, the only thing left to really do is add upgraded front wishbones, and maybe 10mm spacers on the rear wheels, but otherwise it's ready to just drive and drive. I want to see it to 200k - I started at 106420 in December and I'm up to 113k.
  11. Lost my job after a month, and only 2 days in the field, as I'm 'not a good fit'. I know there's more to it, I've done fuck all wrong and just been shit on so they could give an excuse to fire me. Better get the Civic running, then.
  12. Added a rear ARB to the Yaris. It's made a huge difference, the car feels loads more confident and planted - new springs and dampers probably help too. Close to pretty much fully overhauling it!
  13. Czech road atlas? I know someone that would love that.
  14. Five years ago I engine swapped a Civic. It was a bit of a bodge job. And it was still automatic. Time to do it again properly, with more knowledge.
  15. Bought an engine for the Civic, went to MK to pick it up in the Yaris. Now trying to pick up some seats in Harlow but stuck in Marketplace limbo. Having to go full sleuth cause I'm not letting them get away.
  16. For the screen we should just make a playlist of the best of the YouTube Moments thread, and stick it on a computer with uBlock Origin, full screen, low/no volume, done. Or AS classics? A to B, Twin Town, Restless Natives, Goodbye Pork Pie, C'etait un rendezvous, the C15 outdriving Astons... you get the idea. Ronin perhaps, for people that have only seen seven minutes of it? Or the wildcard of sticking a HubNut video or something on and letting the algorithm shove something at us.
  17. RIP, AS legend. Don't think a car has done more for AS!
  18. Cosford would be ace btw, been meaning to go for yonks. Is the BRIXMIS Senator still on display?
  19. Quite the opposite, they're brilliant. If you have a tame fitter it's about the cheapest way to do tyres.
  20. Yaris has had a slow flat since I bought it. Goes down every 3 days. Asked the tuning shop to sort it with the exhaust, they couldn't find an issue. It was audibly leaking... Anyway there's a local car guy I see around a lot that's recently bought an EG Civic. I've spoken to him on Instagram but that's it. It transpired he was a tyre fitter at my local Ford dealer and was happy to do a repair in exchange for a set of EG wheeltrims I had knocking about. Win win. He found the hole easily, but it hadn't gone through the tyre completely hence why they couldn't find an issue the first time. Drilled out and plugged, sorted.
  21. Had a stainless exhaust made up for the Yaris. Sounds very subtle but fun. Just what it needed. The torque curve has really smoothed out, it doesn't scrabble for grip and tramp off the mark now.
  22. YES. I don't drink any more so you're all slightly* safer too. Considering I only own sports toasters now and have no car buying plans (?!), I'm not sure which I'll bring, probably the Civic as it's more interesting, and doesn't scrape on much for how low it is. I can't sleep in either (probably) so I'll likely tent it. I hate storing tents...
