Gents,

In relation to this:

http://autoshite.com/topic/30067-daf-old-escort-van-what-parts-are-worth-taking-post-event-update/page-1

Are the side and rear doors, rear lights, windscreen and wiper arms the same for a Mk1 and Mk2 Escort?

I’ve studied Google images and I think they might be.

I’m selling these parts and I would like to attract a wider audience.

Any ideas?

A bit late in the day but did you get the Mk2 van rear quarter bumpers?

Worth £25k zillion each in good cond. RS Mk1 front quarter-bumpers are the exact same parts but chromed.

Nope, someone already had them off before I got my grubby mits on the Scrote.

Ah, never mind.

As Eddy says above, I've always thought the Mk2 was same as Mk1 up to scuttle. Mk2 van front wings were designed to suit the Mk1 door shut-line.

However, listen!! I think the hinges were different between Mk1 and Mk2 so similar panels overall but not totally interchangeable identical items.

Sounds odd, are you sure?

Does indeed sound odd, my hazy memory says I'm 90% correct but it's still worth checking if you want to advertise them as interchangeable Mk1 doors. I absolutely don't mind being proved wrong. I just have a warning bell ringing from my subconscious from Ford-scene 30-years-ago.

Check in the Ford sites to be sure, to avoid any potential future hassle or unintended disappointment.

Or just clean them up and advertise them as Mk2 Escort van front doors, sold as seen, and still make a few pounds for yourself.

Good on ya for saving them in the first place. :-)

Hi, Yes Capree is right, the front wings and doors are peculiar to the Mk2 van. The front wings have the Mk2 overall shape but the trailing edge is different to suit the Mk1 door and the ends of the flitch panel. The doors are essentially Mk1 but with the hinges in a different position to line up with the Mk2 bulkhead and 'A' post. ISTR there is also something different about the ends of the flitch panel in front of the screen but can't remember exactly what.
