Decided to have a trip to Coventry today, we hadn't been to the transport museum for a while and being as it's free...

There was a special 'Wheels and Waves' surfer's transport exhibition on.

We didn't spent too much time going round the museum itself, they do seem to have changed some of the exhibits around since our last visit. I should have taken a photo of the Horizon Turbo...

Hnngg Italia... love it.

YEP. Can't help but think the motor show style plinth thing with the high sides is a bit of a waste of time. I get what they were trying to do and everything, but it looks a bit rubbish and you can't take proper photos of one of the most beautiful cars in the world....

Anyone else think that 'hot rod' thing in the 1st pic looks totally shit?

It's not shit, it just needed some more careful measuring before committing saw to wood (and metal). Kind of looks like a Matchbox car scaled up, rather than a sleek Humber woody. At least that's what I think.

Matt, thanks for these, it's one museum I haven't been to.

Been, but not for a while; they had this in...

...so it's longer ago than I thought. Must go again, as it's very good.

Pity about the modern brick pattern here - 'English bond', shirley...? :?

The Humber Woody looks better in the flesh, I reckon.

?.....not quite, If I'd had an upmarket house like that and wore a topper to go to the Harvester for a quick carvery, I would have insisted on Flemish Bond

you at coat-rack...>

Mmmmm Scammell... Coventry Transport museum looks ace, I really must pop down at some point. Especially since they ruined the one at Glasgow.

Cheers for sharing!

Ahh, such terrific memories of the Cov 'Sport museum.

I went to Cov Uni and visited the museum on an almost weekly basis, being that we were on the Transport Design course and drew pretty pictures of cars all day long it's not much of a suprise. We went before and after the avante-garde remodelling of the place with the big silly aerofoil thing that crosses the road in front of it.

It's always been a damn good museum, actually, with an eclectic blend o'stuff, including a Peykan Hunter, Triumph Acclaim, 205 Gt16 and ex-Andy Rouse RS500. And much, much more.

That t25 in black and green with silly wheels can Fuck Right Off, though.

Been there before a few years ago with Rover 800 KREW. It was a pretty good place, saw a fair few old Peugeots around, including a minty 405 (I think) that was donated, alos saw some Rally cars and a DeLorean. I seem to remember it being dimly lighted inside so most of my pics came out pretty crap anyway. We parked at the back in the employees only area as we were invited. I didnt see that big Silvery thing that cross the road.

Bought a 1/18 model of a Masterati Quattropotre. Might go back one day.

I went to the Coventry Museum last year, It was somewhere I've wanted to go for years so i was well chuffed when we went there for the day, I was even more chuffed when i found that it was free entry!.

My photos came out really poor though, I struggled like buggerly with the light and the flash so everything came out a bit dark, I want to go back again but with a better flash this time.

It's well worth a visit though, if only to try and stuff the seat on the Metro... and have this one for free. 8)
