Managed to borrow this delightful vehicle for a very recent night out to the local curry house with my good lady, sons, and a couple of the chaps, It served it's purpose very well but was truly dreadful to drive!....

Ha! That is class.

Now paint it pink, get some hose-down upholstery and make £££s. Or so various ebay listings would have us believe.

Edit: Does that car park have lights in the ground under where you park? If so, MOAR CLASS.

That is pretty fly. I bet you felt like the queens second cousin twice removed in that.

Is that while waiting for the rac? Which one is you btw?

Do want! even though it's shit. I'd remove all the seats except the rearmost bench and just have the most rear legroom of all time.

I bet it's, er....

Ponderous.

Bloody hell! How did you manage to 'borrow' that? I've never been in a stretched 800, in fact, I dont think I ever even been in a stretched car/limo before

I am well jealous man :(

Hang about, This car is currently for sale on ebay, it has been for a couple of weeks. I wrote to the seller to correct them about the 825/827 thing, they thought it was Honda powered.

And you still got to borrow it

Mind, it does look a bit shit inside, I've never liked the later velour interior (Sorry Chris/Earl/RoadworkUK) much prefer mine with full leather. I'm still jealous you got to borrow it though. Why dont thing like this happen to me?

Believe me; when it's not by choice, you don't really appreciate it - you're much too concerned about the rather long wooden box in the huge shooting brake ahead of you... :(

That's absolutely fine, I sometimes wish I was sitting on skin. My objection is to the slushbox. I wouldn't mind betting that a goodly number of OMG KV6 failures were due to slushboxes unnecessarily revving the crud out of them.

So how did that Freelander drive when you were shifting yourself?

Seemed odd that you left that out.

That was a slusher, too. I didn't try self-shifting. It made a lot of lovely noise but this didn't translate into movement particularly well.

Oddly enough my old 820 wouldn't change up to 4th until you were doing 35mph meaning it was somewhat heavy on fuel in an urban environment.

Perhaps using the tiptronic mode might have made high speed progress a little more pleasurable.

You could well be right, i ought to have tried it, might have been a revealation.

EDIT: I have ammended that Freelander post and apologised that I didn't check the Tiptronic out.
