Vauxhall Cavalier For Sale. £550?

Hi all well i've finally had to admit defeat sadly. No job for over a month an no signs of a new one an now im completley broke.

So i've got no choice but to sell the cavalier an it's really sad to have to do it but im out of options so hope it can find a good home at least.

Anyways that enough of me going on let me fill you in on the car itself an i will tell you everthink i can think of as i want to be honest.

It's a 1993 L reg Vauxhall Cavalier 1.8 LS hatch with electric front windows, central locking an a manual tilt/slide sunroof plus has a towbar fited.

Colour is nautilus blue but i personally thinkit's more of a metalic green to me.

I've owend it just over 3 years an 40,000 miles an if it wasn't for being broke i'd been keeping it alot longer as it's been a great car to me an had some good times with it too. :)

Got mot till february 4th 2012 an taxed it for six months at the start of the month so that doesn't run out till 31 st january 2012.

The car has done around 159,000 miles though i'll be perfectly honest it didn't have any service history with it when i brought it though i've got stacks of paperwork to show what has been done since i brought it as i like to keep my cars in the best order i can.

Also the engine isn't the orignal etheir as it had to be replaced after i brought the car as i found out i'd been had an there was no oil pressure!

So brought a secondhand engine that's roughly on 180,000 but don't let that put you off these engines are good for 250-300,000 if serviced regluar which the previous keeper hadn't done in the 3 years that he owned it!

I've changed the oil an filter every 5,000 miles

An it had the antifreeze changed around feb this year for the red longlife fluid.

Also in my ownership it's had a new,

Radiator.

Petrol tank. Both a common problem on these cars to fail.

New type 2 cat so it will actually pass a mot test in feb this year.

Rear springs.

New oil cap.

Replaced powersteering pipes with secondhand ones due to rot.

Cambelt an tensioner including waterpump.

Most of if not all the exhaust system ive forgot!

Got valeo wiper blades all round.

There a lot more besides too an have bills an receipts to show.

Got alot of spare odds an ends too an a book of lies included if you want them.

Such as vairous switches an bits of trim an even a new bonnet an brand new set of genuine vauxhall headlamp protecters unopened an gen spare speedo cable.

The interior has been replaced for a late spec SRI interior which is in fair condition overall. The n/s doorcard vinyl has a split though which i've never

got round to sorting an the drivers bolster is sagged but could be easily sorted an the fabric isn't holed. The dash has some cracks nearest the screen an i would have replaced it at some point just never got round to fnding one but it's ok as is.

The bodywork is tidy for a 18 year old car but does have chips scratches carpark dents etc that you would expect. The car has had a new n/s side sill last year though you wouldn't know it to look at it as a close friend did the work to the best standards he could an he is a bit of a perfectionist. The rear arches are ok but have been tidyed up in the past an could do with replacing in the next couple of years to be honest.

The only other thing to mention is the car sometimes takes a few turns on the starter to go sometimes but i have a secondhand startermotor included

that i have't got round to fitting with it. I hope i haven't put people off i just wanted to be honest as possible it's a really good car an will take you anywhere you want without fuss. I've been on various trips to Wales an Reading an to london an yorkshire an put 300 miles in a day on this car without trouble. If you want a cheap realible car thats easy to maintain you won't go wrong.

I've washed it nearly every weekend since ive owned it an as ive said its been looked after the best i can its been more of friend than id care to admit will be really sad to see it go. Im located in aldridge in the west midlands very close to the A5 an 10 minutes from lichfield.

Looking for £550 an there is no stereo included but can sell my sony headunit at extra cost but would like to retain it for my next car.

Will try an get some pictures up soon. Any questions just ask here or PM me thanks.

£550 a bit salty for a 160k mile L reg cavalier the way the market is just now.. there's been a couple of really decent ones on here recently that have struggled even at the £300 mark (although without the tax), so it might take a while to shift at that money - Good luck with it though, I know the pain of job loss and wondering where the next rent payment is coming from - been there myself a few times in the past!

yeah, good luck with it mate - do you absolutely have to sell - given that it is a vehicle that you know well could you mothball it and bung it on sorn until you are back on your feet. You have my sympathy BTW I've been in a similar situation for the last 10 months coupled with being stuck on an NHS waiting list...had to go on that farse Employment and Support Allowance,,,the new incapacity benefit which is one enormous clustershag of a government arse up you couldn't make it up...t then again as Govt policy is decided by readers of the Sunday Mail what the hell do we expect...just beginning to climb out of it but it will take I reckon about 4 years to stabilise the ship..we eventually decided to swt up our own business with literally zip all investment and were able to land our first two contracts about a month ago, weekly challenges over how to pay for stuff hence the 200 quid 306 and the Yugooooo...Hang in their buddy,,,things are shit just now but they will get better just keep plugging away and if you can, possibly hold onto the chod it wil save you cash in the long term

What they said.

Brilliant cars, but alas due to the inherant thickness of some of the car buying public they'll look at the price and think 'I could get a 1999/2000-ish Mondeo/Vectra/Laguna/etc for that sort of money without realising the Cavalier is a far better car.

Personally I'd see that at about £350, perhaps up to about £375 if it had even a little (two months or so) of tax on it, and about £275-£325 without it. Unless you're dangerously skint I'd echo Scooter's comments and suggest you keep it, as when you come to get another car you'll have to fork out for the unknown.

Anyhow good luck mate, hopefully something will come through for you and you get back on your feet asap.

Post deleted as this is a FS thread and I drifted it OT.

Bloody hell Pete, that's crazy. Did you shift it in the end as for some reason I thought it was £750?

Anyhow another fact in current times is it's holiday season so lots of people are on their arse after having to fork out for their jollies, though you'd think sub-£500 vehicles would be flying out given the current economic climate.
