That's allowed to get away with what it wants.

It's a V8 RWD Allegro.

Say no more, really. :( Beautiful old tool, ruined. Still, at least it's fixable, by anyone with the tiniest hint of sense.

If doing that keeps it on the road -I'm all for it.

Not my taste- but I wouldnt have a problem with more relevant alloys.

Still -we're all different, thank God -thats what makes our hobby

Personally, I HATE these wheels:

They came standard on post 1996 Rover 800 Vitesses. They remind me of an old duffer wearing a nice suit with trainers. They just dont look right. Alot of 800 "enthusiasts" are bolting these abominations on to thier Sterlings now

I disagree; it's perhaps people's perception of what Rover are that makes people think they're inappropriate? Perhaps they should have come with wire wheels or steelies with hubcaps? :D

Nah, those 17' alloys just shit and desperate.

The mk2 Sterling model is supposed to come with these alloys:

Sadly too many people dont like them and cheapen the car by bolting on crap aftermarket jobbies or 17's.

Those Sterling alloys are truly bloody hideous. At least the Vitesse wheels look slightly good, and you can't destroy the ride quality of a car that doesn't have any to start with..

The Vitesse reminds me of Phil Collins "you can't hurry love" phase. Bald head, bit podgy, suit, trainers, and not being as good as what went before. Peter Gabriel, therefore, must be a V8 SD1

Pah, the 213 went to the Futamata School of Jap plastic mouldings and eventually to Solihull college to do a City and Guilds in arts and crafts, whereas Gabriel - being a proper Brit with a bit of breeding - went to Charterhouse. The SD1 would have been a good public school drop out, had a few breakdowns, done a bit of acid, been a bit eccentric for a few years and then suddenly reappeared a few years later to be properly recognised for doing good deeds for the people.

All valid, can't argue with that at all. Especially the "more relevant alloys" bit. I could see it on MGB RoStyles, perhaps, if he's going to retain the rat-racer look, but ideally painted steels, perhaps slightly wider than they used to be, and with embossed "M" hubcaps.

I like the Sterling wheels. They're subtle and understated, like Mercedes Benz wheels use to be. All I think of when I see Vitesse wheels are rim leaks.

The Sterling alloys look and very subtle with class, like the car itself. The Vitesse are just shit and destroy the otherwise ride in my opinion. I have driven both the post-96 Vitesse and Sterling.

I think you might be misinterpretting me Eddy.

I'm all for appropriate alloys and a bit higher profile tyres. But I do like dark alloys (apart from those on black cars).

I hate lowered cars, and most alloys just annoy me. Yet Seth's Herald is a thing of absolute beauty. It's class in a glass. I love it.

I've always hated the wheels Citroen fitted to the C5 V6. They look shit. People were always asking why it had wheel trims.

Complete with low-profile tyres.

There are loads of old Vauxhall alloys that'd suit this perfectly as well.

Daft looking Cavalier ^^^

I had an E reg Cav saloon in that colour (platinum gold IIRC) and it looked better than that on GM wheeltrims.
