Friday. Galant was there, probably leaving a neat patch of oil on the grass.

Mk14dr turned up with a lass, which dramatically increased my social anxiety and left me hyperventilating into a bag.

5894931964_2f3112fbdb_z.jpg

Anglevan brought a Fiesta Pop, which helped calm my shattered nerves.

5894932372_58f31ee637_z.jpg

Kids whinging about your latest school run vehicle? Turn up in this.

5894366691_868c7058f7_z.jpg

Suppose one bonus is that you can park in disabled spaces and no one will really say much.

REKORD BREAKERS

5894367387_f8f5d114be_z.jpg

I think one of these turns up on that Vauxhall advert, you know the one where you see the cars eventually turn into rubbish-looking ones.

5894933638_4d69835711_z.jpg

The last time I saw this it was on an eBay Classified ad for £1495 or something. Nice cricket outfit.

HOWAY MAN, BOLLOX HERE

5894368443_0cf56f7124_z.jpg

These have a superb grille, don't they? You could store Matchbox cars in them.

5894368825_aa07135388_z.jpg

Alan Sugar apologised profusely for some reason.

5894935114_97c9c60d68_z.jpg

Couldn't get a decent picture of this due to men in straw hats and suchlike.

5894369505_169a28ea8d_z.jpg

Just like in that Australian film, the one where the drag queens drive around in a bus.

5894935796_fc4fc93b10_z.jpg

Car sales photography masterclass: Turn the wheels, increase the price by 10%.

5894936114_b40f6c4aa9_z.jpg

Metro Automatic with 20-odd K and a "Hello, my name is Percy" type description in the window.

5894936502_dc0a7f91e0_z.jpg

YEEHAW

5894936790_47c4fc9c25_z.jpg

"Ring the factors, tell them I want 2 hubcaps and 4 tins of Schutz. Might be the other way round."

5894371237_002f2d60da_z.jpg

How cool is this shabby Ponton? Probably worth more than my life, even if I was a hostage.

5894371551_e06ba73735_z.jpg

This has a slightly peeved old woman at the top, so I've cropped her head off.

5894371843_fc283e2349_z.jpg

Partly made in Italy, partly made in America, wholly unsold in most places.

5894938428_9f9801543a_z.jpg

"Hey man, you want to score? I got Parma Violets, Refreshers, Murray Mints"

5894372877_dcd0b8587a_z.jpg

Gene Wilder was not amused by this van.

5894939072_41dbc70b2d_z.jpg

Too discreet, you'd lose it in Aldi car park.

5894939338_6215ecf5c1_z.jpg

This car reluctantly paid the £3 entry fee after a week-long strike.

5894939734_5ef3a49c3e_z.jpg

Brava continued not to win any trophies.

5894940052_8bd0998467_z.jpg

This is beautiful and anyone who disagrees is an idiot, soz!

5894374625_5ac39c7a46_z.jpg

I suspect these people recognised me.

5894940792_22cac434fe_z.jpg

Bloody women getting in the way, go play some online bingo or something.

5894941156_126de0f41a_z.jpg

I never quite liked these Cortina wheels.

5894375699_13757ca643_z.jpg

"Why, I'll pick you up in my Drophead Coupe"

5894942192_109399894d_z.jpg

"Oh"

5894376735_aef82851ff_z.jpg

Miserable old men were crying about this Bluebird, so I went around taking pictures of that and ignoring everything else, just to get their backs up.

5894943006_434b2e1049_z.jpg

I'm looking for a Mercedes, but it needs to be in the right colour. This is wrong.

5894943334_df6d920703_z.jpg

This is wrong.

5894943702_553129983c_z.jpg

This is right, much obliged.

5894378131_1ffee3673f_z.jpg

"IT'S GOING TO RAIN, I'M GETTING OUT OF HERE, CHRIST" (it didn't)

5894378539_4b14d495ec_z.jpg

This is owned by Morrisoxide, which I suspect isn't his real name.

5894944594_e98296a4b0_z.jpg

This Corvette was miles away, I had it on mega-zoom.

5894944928_248273f6df_z.jpg

This was being pushed west, so it'll probably be in Ireland in a few months.

5894379437_714591e1d2_z.jpg

Don't know if this guy actually brought a lass, I think it might be bravado.

5894379797_20d18eb1af_z.jpg

The front stickers are just until he can find a slatty-grille to go on.

5894380157_6387d9109a_z.jpg

These wheels look great - on Fiestas!

5894946264_389864923a_z.jpg

I waited until no one was around this Rover so I wouldn't have to hear a load of BL sob-stories.

5894946624_8e4fe288d9_z.jpg

Would quite happily hang my suit jacket in the back of this.

5894969400_344097467d_z.jpg

Wonder what engine it has? Clue: CHUGCHUGCHUGCHUGCHUG

5894969730_8b02b461ef_z.jpg

Don't know why it looks like that, don't know why it has an incredibly smoky diesel, in conclusion - don't know.

5894402863_946f635810_z.jpg

Ital-ina, see what I did there?

And that's it, you can go home now.

Some class chod there Hirst, nice to see a couple of Hull registered cars in particular the Celica and minty Sierra which I suspect still has all its Crystal Ford dealer kaff on it. 8)

that... people above a certain age will not get that!

That bird in the first pic? Is that the one the Mk1 brought? Tidy piece that. Oh yeah. cars.... erm. yeah.

Posted

Nice! And don't worry about losing that Cadillac at Aldi: it'll need ALL the car park! I know, been there done that... :D But yeah, it is a bit of a dodgy colour, just like my first. A 57 really needs to be in that dusky pink they did, with the roof in white.

Good captions. I lol'd my Scotch Broth up.

Posted

I was in my office in Leeds (Colton Mill) all day Friday doing F-all so I could have brought the Panda 45 along to this. BALLS. :(

Have had a good Lolz to the captions - The 'worth more than my life' had me spitting my nightcap :lol:

Also, I'll just add the Wolseley to Mash's round-up of Hull registered cars

Also, that 850T Ice Cream Van made go :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Does the Allante have an actual cassette door? That is entirely boss and I require one immediately.

Top work Hirst and the source of much laughter at Roadwork towers.

Posted

GR8 pics and awesome captions, as always Mr Hirst.

Im glad your pics came out so well with the effort you had to put in to capture some of them, I particularly lol'd at the Sir Alan wannabe beside the Capri. The look on his face is priceless

Brightened up my morning, that did! But why no Galant pics?

Posted

I forgot to take any Galant pictures, probably as I can stare out of the window and watch it pollute the driveway at my leisure. Often I do this for hours.

Posted

That looks a good show! Liking the Dodge van rather a lot.

Looks like it was an absolute Sierra-fest, too!

Those descriptions that say

"Hi, my name is Mollie and I'm a Ford Corsair. I was born on March 20th 1967 in Dagenham..." are cringingly awful. I was reading one on a Mk1 Mini at the show in Croxley Green a couple of years ago and takin' the absolute piss...unaware that the owners were sitting in stripey deck-chairs just a few feet away.

But why no Galant pics?

I can fix that

Bet the old bat you cropped off the imp picture was muttering about your suit being the same as the one albert was buried in in 79

Anyone get any pictures of the rare Porsche Harlequin?

+1.

I think I have just self performed a LOLectomy

Good to see everyone - weather held up which was great. Didn't take many pictures as my daughter was running round - she's only 3 so i'll let her off.

Received a lot of good comments regards the Festa pop which I was pleased with, my lad was well chuffed and glad we went. Only negs we got we're from some Sherpa convertible drivers - but then they spent more time slagging the Bluebird off behind us - Tossers...

One thing I like about that show is the everyday car turns up - if you can forget the Astras that have been blinged with Halfords wheels...

Posted

That sounds like the same "duo" I encountered, I swooped in and got a nice photo of the Bluebird and then strolled off, much to their bemusement.
