It has now been driven away by it's new owner!

Well, it was only a matter of time before I had to make the effort to move this along. I've been struggling with the size of it for a while, but it's been so reliable that I've just kept on with it. However Mr Nat West now tells me I don't have enough money, so it's going to have to make way for something a bit cheaoer.

Following ad shamelessly copy-and-pasted from car and classic text!

Diamond white XR2, completely standard right down to the Ford stereo and steel wheels with trims. A rare chance to own one of the few unmolested XR2s left.

Car runs brilliantly, no smoke, knocks or clunks and only the very slightest click from the usually noisy CVH hydraulic tappets. Interior is very good, with only slight wear to the drivers bolster. Has factory glass sunroof.

Bodily, this is a good car, but not perfect. However, to my eye it looks like the only paintwork it has ever had is a small local repair around the passebnger door lock, so there is nothing nasty hiding under a bit of filler and paint like some out there. It has been welded in the past, and there is a small scab on the O/S front wing but it's a 22 year old Ford, so it's doing pretty well!

This car really needs to be seen, as descriptions of old Fords can vary. Viewing welcome and recommended. New MOT before sale, tax end July 2011.

Asking price is £1295, although shiters discount will apply.

Pics..... Loads more available if you're interested.

Why is it every car I'm seeing at the moment i want?, I'd quite fancy a tidy XR2 like this to smoke about in for a while, It would be ideal for the wife.

I'm guessing the 1.6 lump in this is the same one that's in my Mk4 Escort? I mean that they aren't tuned in anyway are they?

I'm suffering the same Trig. My first car was a Mk2 Fezza Pop, and I'd love to try a fizzier version. Few nibbles on the Scimmie, but no sale yet...

not strictly true, the scrote was 90bhp, the XR2 96bhp, (until they started sticking economy carbs on anyway...). they weigh feck all so went rather better....

Yep, that pretty much sums it up!

looks a spot on price for a spot on motor. My missus still has hers I bought for her birthday a few years back. I would love those wheels on it .. been after some for ages..

Prediction: in a year or so these will start hitting the roof value wise. It's an OSF and a damned nice one at that.

Just thinking aloud hear but what's the mileage, history, condition of the front panel and extent of grot on wing and where in the world are you?

100k, no history but belt looks pertty new. Front panel good, or at least as much as I can see with the spoiler on. Grot on front wing is confined to one scab above the indicator. Wing rail and inner is a bit scabby in same place. I'm in Bolton.

 Well Mrs Trigger still isn't getting on well with the Escort and with my Mk4 now sold and going next week I might have to look for a replacement that she can get on better with.

She finds the clutch a bit sharp and the choke temperamental on the Mk3 and has started to give me grief over it. :(

Darn  I was offered a Red F-reg XR2i years ago for £300. £300 then was alot of money for me to raise. I regret not trying.

Money situation did get better for a long while but has sunk again. Good luck woth the sale Sporty.

It's gone :(

I have irons in the fire for it's replacement, but knowing my luck, they'll turn to shit, so if there's anything out there pretty local, shout out*

Really crap details sorry but I've just been told of a Mazda 323 up for grabs locally. All I know is it's supposedly a good runnner in 'not bad condition' with MOT until Feb or March next year, rent until the end of June and he wants £300 for it. Can find out more details over the enxt day or so if wamted?

Oh dear.

Chris, I've just been for a look at the car me ol' teapot and it's not nice. Dented to high heaven and not too pretty but the worst is it's smoking it's knackers off. I think it's a 1.5 engine but to be honest unless you're incredibly desperate it's a frag feeder job only. I quizzed the owner and knocked him down to 'about £170 quid' as he reckons he can score £170 at a metal merchants not too far from here.

Happy to send his details on if you'd like them but as I say it looks like frag feed only to be honest.
