Straight swapped my MR2 for this yesterday

320i in dark green (pretty rare colour in saloon form) and cream leather seats. Drives well, has 74k on the clock and i cant find any rust on it. Electric everything and thing thats broken is the central locking.

Plan is to change the 17s for 15s, respray the mirrors and get some new number plates. Drove fine on the way back and everyone ive spoken to thus far have said it will be worth far more than the MR2.

Looks rather good. Need to get the front chin spoiler sorted, but they only clip on. There may be one knocking about in my shed. I'll have a look.

I take it it's got 'comfort' rather than 'sport' leather?

Much better than an MR2, good move.

Yeah, the wheels are doing it no favours but looks straight, nice spec and shouldn't be any hassle at all to move on. Nice work!

Certainly looks like you got the better end of the deal, that's a nice looking car that.

Top work. I was saying only yesterday how I'd fancy another 6cyl E30. Im guessing its a Man-U-el?

It is indeed a manual. It actually sounds a bit odd, being noticable quieter between 3-4k and raspy but "they all do that".

Oh and the MOT runs out in about six weeks. But hey, whats the worst that could happen........?

Nice one, well done. Sounds like you're pleased to see the back of the Merde!

Has it been lowered a touch?

If it were mine, every time I looked at it I'd be wishing it was the Subaru to match the number plate! I'd love one of those.

Oh, and time to change your sig at last!

Very nice , strangly I quite like the wheels although maybe in a different colour would be better , what make are they :?:

Nice deal there NC. My Dad had 2 of these, initially a 4 door 1.6 then a 2-door 1.6 in Red. I like the simplicty and style of them. Nice to hear that you will be changing the wheels down rather than up. Are you going for original wheels?

Could you post some pics of the interior aswell please? I've seen a couple of these BMs with cream leather and they looked quite nice.

what's it like for fuel? I seem to remember you wanted something economical!

I would've thought it'd get comfortable 30's, being a manual.

15's BBS's and a good old polish will do it wonders. Have you got a frinedly MOT tester that could maybe have a look and see if it'll need anything for the test?

Is that a good swap for an MR-2? Judging by the alloys it's had the wrong type of owner.

Get an MoT asap then flog it on for something you really want.

Or is this what you were after instead of the MR2?

Posted

Well i did fancy a BMW seeing as ive never owned one before (i have this odd idea to own a car by every mainstream marque who sell in the UK) and straight six is always a win.

Yes the idea was to get something more economical which hasnt really worked. But im certain this is worth more than the MR2 (which id just grown bored of) as its just starting to enter Scene Tax pricing.

So then, get a new MOT then sell it on. The current one runs out in about five weeks but i cant find any rust and it passed without advisories last time, so whats the worst that could happen?

Actually best not answer that last part

Shouldent think so! Only if your sitting on the motorway at 70 for long periods. Average will be low 20's

Still nice car though! :)

Have you sussed the central locking yet?

I had a E30 and all it was was a dry joint in the very basic central locking brain down in the passenger(?) side A pillar.

The points/contacts were loose and bouncing apart.

If you believe the E30 forums and the scare mongering you'd cack ya pants!

Havent had a chance to look yet tbh. Since im the only person in the car 90% of the time the lack of it doesnt really bother me that much
