Fantastic stuff, Alex. Esp the W+P/Tickford stuff. I wonder how many peeps thought 'Yes, I will tick every option box'? Given that a video player's £500 more than a turbo kit :? , I wouldn't have thought very many!

What a fantastic thread.

Thanks for taking the time out and uploading them for all to see.

That W&P Metro is right up my street 8)

Great thread Alex!, There was a chap on RR that had a FT, That stereo it that is amazing and i wonder how many people bought Air Con and Cruise for there Mini Metro!

Never seen anything of those Metro's before, and the Wood & Pickett version was so madly expensive, I can't imagine that many were commissioned. Great find though. happy0034.gif

They're all a far cry from my old poverty spec' Metro...

Glad you like it folks - there is a bloke on the Metro Owners Club who I believe has 2 Tickfords 8)

Crikey, you really don't want Pog to come back to you!

I'm loving the Unipart Accessories brochure. I wonder how many standard Metros were fitted with aircon, electric windows and mirrors and cruise control? Not many, I expect...

Crikey.aircon on an A series, I bet that did wonders for it's economy / performance..................

wow...Seems like that BL weren't alone at thinking that the Metro was the best thing since sliced bread. I wonder whether such sophisticated customisation was available for other, more technically advanced, small hatchbacks of that era such as the 205 and mk1 Ibiza.

As we're all grown up I'll finally admit that a 1750 All Aggro nearly had the legs on my 1983 XR3i in a traffic light drag race in 1991. Nearly.

I used to regularly out drag an '85 XR3i in my '83 Mitsubishi Mirage 1250 :D

It was only because the other guy couldn't drag race of course - but it was fun at the same time

Thanks for sharing the Metro brochures, they're great. Couldn't help but tick all the options on the Laser Metro (need that £110 tape library integrated into glovebox). That makes it £22,821.

In 2009, the relative worth of £22,821.00 from 1981 is:

£65,200 using the Retail Price Index

£100,000 using average earnings

Just chillin' watching Time Bandits on VHS in the back of my Metro which cost as much as a house.

Brilliant reading, cheers for the share. The options list prices are mind boggling, I wonder if anyone took up all the tat listed?

I love to see someone use that Wood & Pickett video player since it takes up the space that your elbows/arms use in the back seat. With two up someone is gonna get a hernia twisting round to open the flap, reaching over to get something from the "video library" in the other pocket, klunking down the huge Play lever.... and then struggling to watch 'Saturday Night Fever' on the tinsy-winsy screen and hear the soundtrack over the transmission whine... tee hee . Great find!
