That's really crap. I'm sorry for you.

Many years ago I lived in newcastle and had a talbot horizon. Early one morning a man came to read the gas meter, he asked what was going on with the smashed up car outside.... cue one mad dash down the path to find a banana shaped horizon where someone had piled into the driver's door during the night and shoved the whole car into a lamp-post. No note, no witnesses, no interest from the police. I'm still mystified as to how the heck we slept through it.

what really cheesesing me off is the police won't come round to check it or investigate it but I have to go round to the station to report and only have 24 hours to do so....WTF is that about? if they can't be arsed to follow it up then why the hell do I have to go rond there at my inconvienience when were it vandalism, they are happy to do it over the phone....

fuck it, I'm not reporting it and we're going camping - the excess is too much anyway and I have't reported the last two incidents

Shit Scooters that's really harsh, I guess you can replace the wing and door as they are only bolt on panels but that's hardly the point.

Don't let it ruin your holiday though mate.

police called me back - told me they would take a phone statement provided I report in person on Monday. I'm not going to claim this but i do want to report the crime...I suspect the postie van that delivers to the buisiness across the road - he always reverses out of their drive too quickly and the paint on my car at the dent is post office red!

I'm going to call the depot but plod said they would call them as well.

quite pleased with the police - I think they took pity on me when they saw the 3 incidents in as many months.

bloody hell, scooters, you've had some awful luck recently.

Don't the police accept reports in emails or at least faxes? Much more accurate and useful than a phone chat.

I'd move to somewhere civilised - not the arse end of Fife!

Sorry to hear that, but realistically i dont think plod can do much without any witnesses

This REALLY sucks. Sod's law that your corner of Embra is the one bit of Britain not covered by CCTV.

Go camping and forget about it for now.

I'm wondering what I have done to piss off the Gods- on top of this car issue business has been really slow to pick up, I've been in hospital for 3 weeks and am stil not fixed and m wee girl, 1 year old has just been diagnosed with coeliacs disease!....I feel like fecking jonah ! could be worse though - could live in Libya or Syria.

at least I have a Yugo coming to cheer me up!

have my sympathy

I went through somthing similiar earlier this year. Had a company '08' plate Astra never had a spot of bother, it was due back due to mileage (90k) in the 3 months prior to it going back it went for a service and they damaged the arch and got a puncture (didnt accept responsibility) somone ran into the n/s/f wing while parked outside house and buggered off and I hit a flying mudflap on the M62 knackeing the fr bumper and again driver pegged it.. Prior to that all it had was stone chips, it went back looking a rite shed. And i was £50 out of pocket paying for a bodge on the wing (luckily it was raining when they collected it!!)

lets hope thats your 3 ..

Jesus Scoots, what a bloody run of luck you're having. Sory to hear about this but you must be due a break by now and hopefully things will start turning round.

Luxobarge's idea of police e-mails or faxes is a good one, you'd think they would have switched on a bit to modern technology by now and save themselves and Joe Public a fair bit of hassle.

Opened this thread hoping to see something fecking brilliant but instead there's a bunch of unfortunate luck :( Hope things turn around soon.

The world's most hapless man?

sorry to hear about all that. a year or so back someone keyed my car which pissed me off for a whole weekend. Then I hit a piece of the north circular in it. Then I backed it hard into a concrete post a few weeks ago. It used to be a nice car....

The weekend that I destroyed the back end was the same weekend as the earthquake/tsunami which kind of helped me to put it into perspective.

Hopefully by the end of the summer I'll have it nice again

I did move, it was a royal pain in the arse, but after one car was vandalised and while that was being repaired I borrowed my dad's Montegro which was stolen and torched we didn't stay there long. It's amazing how moving less than a mile way can change things so much. Then we moved to Norfolk which is the best

Hope you luck picks up, with a new Yugo it has to doesn't it?

That's some really bad luck. It's bad news when you can't have nice stuff incase some prick trashes it or drives into it and pisses off.

Are you in Glasgow?

Do you have any photos of the damage?

Ohhhhh scooters, it's really not been your year, has it? I do hope it starts to pick up for you.

If it is him, he's completely at-fault. Reversing out? There's no excuse, especially in a van with six feet of opaque steel behind the driver blocking his view of traffic. UK learners are taught to reverse IN (and tested on this ability) for extremely sound safety reasons.

Whoever laid this last straw on your back, I really hope you find him. When you're in the company of several large mates.

I recon this Volvo is Jinxed. I've had it with cars before, they just become damage magnets for no reason!

My long deceased Grandfather used to get a lump hammer and put a dent in the underside of any "new" car he owned, this was to get rid of any jinxes that would mean the car was vandalised or somehow damaged in the future.

Well, it always worked for him!

Are they (I took my test in Greece and just exchanged my license once here)?? Why does nobody do it then? It seems like that, whenever I go to a supermarket and try to reverse into a space, other drivers (especially women  ) look at me as if I've descended from another planet.

Don't worry, I get all the same looks. I can only imagine it's I'll-do-what-the-fuck-I-like-and-to-hell-with-you Syndrome, which is a worldwide epidemic that's been going on for decades, if not centuries, untreated. There's ONE driver in Cyprus who reverses in with any consistency, can you guess who it might be? :D

Scooters, apologies for the hijack.
