I say you should bin the Pug's engine and replace it with a turbocharged XUD. That'd be a fantastic machine!

I think an engine like the C4's would be ace , but too much complication would sink it. It's a pity because they can easily be tuned for 200 lb ft of torque, and it punts 1350 kg round pretty easily in standard tune (162 lb ft).

An XUD would be good too. Lots of people tune them, the T2s can take extra torque and an FMIC would be the business.

HOWEVER. I do have plans for another XU engine. It's not an XUD though................. :D

Christ, I used to live in Hare st and I'm buggered if I can think where that is.

Too far for me now, like, but still. Is it on past Hay st?

:) From Royston you go through Barkway, Hare St, then Dassles, which is where I am.

Sorry guys, when is this happening? I'm back in the UK from the end of Aug for a few weeks, but out in Europe for some of the time but would like to bop along if I can make it. Can someone edit the thread title to include when / where?

Are we still on for this?

Who's coming, in what?

If this is still hapenning, there's a slight possibility I might attend.

My sister lives in Puckeridge. Could kill two birds with the rolling moss.

I shall suggest it to the management and see if I have "GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME? HERTFORDSHIRE? TO TALK TO A LOAD OF WEIRDO'S ABOUT SHIT OLD CARS?"

(worst case scenario)

My domestic manager will not be attending due to the fact that she doesn't "get it", and is of the opinion that we;re all mental.

She's got a point.....

I was just thinking about some kind of end-of-season meet, as I've missed all the good shows this year. If it's local enough I might brave a trip in the V6 Camry, failing that the Laurel would do.

I'm still up for this as well as Stondon last year was GR8, Not sure what i'll be in yet though.

If nothing transpires on this, what about something low-key down at Clacton/Jaywick/Frinton/Walton? Surely a suitable venue for us? Be easier for me to persuade the family down too.

DINGDINGDINGDINGDING!

I'll bring a thermos of stewed tea.

A convoy of shite cars parked up on Jaywick seafront wouldn't look any more out of place then normal!

My Girlfriend is officially working on the 3rd, so I have the green light for spending my day in the company of loons.

Herts, Essex Riviera or up Ipswich way would be spot on....

Unfortunately I can't do anything until end Sept/early Oct. Weather should still be OK then.

To give us something to aim for, what about Sunday Oct 2nd? I do like the idea of somewhere down on the coast in Essex, but if someone can think of a suitably scenic/rubbish venue in/around Colchester it'd be easier for more people.

Further into autumn/winter, I'll happily host a get-together for EA 'shiters at mine. Plenty of parking space, and lots of magazines/brochures/photos and the like out in the shed so we don't have to converse...

Has anyone suggested Romney Marshes yet? Surely that's the perfect bleak setting for a conglomeration of rubbish cars and is on the Essex coast too!

Not in Essex, Kent - or is it closer to Cologne? If we went to Anglia looking for Romney, there'd be a crossflow of shite cars over the Dart ford crossing. We'd need an escort to focus us in the right direction.

Or you could meet at one of those defunct Granada services, or close to the Thames when you're not in transit - that would be popular.

Get's my vote! Walton, Frinton, Clacton, Jaywick, Seawick!

All human life is here.

Sunday October 2nd Essex Seashite Dawdle

Trigger, Oldford, Wuvvum, any other Norfolk/Suffolk/Essex/Cambs people interested?

I was thinking of starting off up at the top end of Walton then ambling down along the coast until we get to Jaywick, with a stop for fish & chips and photo opportunities en-route. For anyone who doesn't know this area there's always some random old bilge parked-up, and a few interesting houses too:

Bring a Thermos of your favourite warm drink, and a bucket and spade (I'll be needing to let my children out onto the beach at some point). Anyone else?

I WILL be there, subject to still being alive etc. etc. My Girlfriend has just officially sanctioned it.

I'm up for it, the only trouble is that it's the Aldburgh classic car run that day where the club i'm a member of (eapc) drive to Aldburgh and park up outside Moot hall for the day and eat chips, normally there's about 100 cars there but sod it, Jaywick has more crap about!

Excellent! Will you still have the Opel then? Golf would be equally worthy though.

I'd like to bring the Camry V6, but not sure yet if I quite trust it enough so it'll probably just be the Laurel.

Had a PM from someone else who's hoping to come along.

Still not 100% sure on the Opel, I've someone email me who's interested in it but I've yet to see anything to replace it apart from a 1977 Opel Manta that I've been told "looks shit" and a 1968 Volvo 142S.
