Evening all,

Is anyone interested in this somewhat crusty Vento before she gets weighed in? Be a shame to see it go, but am severely under pressure for space, and am about to lose storage for same.

1.8 single point ABS 5 speed manual.

Was daily driver till MOT expired on 23rd April.

Bad points -

1. No MOT/Tax *

2. Cracked front screen.

3. airtex sills bottom of a-post/centre. Scabby n/s/r arch

4. Mostly red.

5. 1st gear baulks when cold. No crunch/graunching though.

6. o/s/f fog lamp blank broken

*Actually taxed till August but am about to cash in - available on request.

Good points -

1. Beige interior

2. 4 almost new 185/60/14 Marshall Ditchfinders

3. All 4 elec windows/roof work (even off key). In fact everything works afaik.

4. Mostly red

5. Starts on the button, sounds lovely.

6. 2 keys and immobilisers.

7. V5 (in my name) imminent

+1. Offer to throw in a pineapple, and you'll be beating them off with the oft-quoted "stick"

And how much would Sir be requiring for this item?

Posted

£150 with tax, £75 without.

Or therabouts. Would rather it went to a decent home than fragged. or painted matt black dragging its sump.

£75!, How cheap is that, get a second hand screen fitted, Two patches on the sill and a years rent and you've got a cheap car there I'd say.

You could even try and do the 'screen as an insurance job- it normally doesn't affect your NCD, although they may find another way of shafting you.

£75 is less than the tyres are worth!

Sadly that wouldn't work as the car needs tax and moted i think, I seem to remember wanting to do the same thing years ago with a Mondeo i bought and not being able too.

The work is done by Autoglass etc, and IIRC they don't tend to ask for MOT and associated paperwork. When I first came to England, the student accomm was thoroughly shite and I had to spend a few months in a hellish council estate in Leicester, where my car was being vandalised with alarming regularity- I think I had around 4 glass insurance jobs within 6 months, and I can't remember them asking for MOT or anything else...though it's been like 10 years since then, so things may well have changed.

I got a screen on the Volvo last year when the MOT was out. I imagine it's quite common to leave it until it fails a test.

Posted

Indeed - shouldn't be a problem, other than insurance is now on the dizzler Olop...

Any taker chaps? Really need it shifted soonish before I get more earache from swmbo.

Sam, unwilling to paint it mattblack and cut 2" off the coils (at this point) :-)

Humm, I think the injection system from this would go straight onto my Audi, therefore eliminating the wanky carb (thats also partially burnt out) that dogs the driving experience when running on petrol.

I recon this will get snapped up, but if it doesn't I'll be watching...

Hey, Red 5, I'll have the radio from you, if it works ? any idea if it's ok - and how much ?? cheers mate.

Posted

It deffo picked up Radio 2

I will try it and report back. Anyone got a Compact Cassette I can borrow?

:-)

Hello again, Red 5, not worried if the cassette player does not work, more concerned that the FM VHF radio functions, along with the display on the right, thanks !

Where abouts are you exactly, I don't know "Bewdley" ? what county is that in ?

I will be in Kent, via Gatwick in one weeks time, then down in Dorset / Cornwall: bet you're miles away from there ? !

cheers, enjoy de wedding, mon

Bewdley is near Kidderminster, Worcs!

Posted

I might be interested in the whole car. It depends if I can convince the other half. Unusually, this is fair enough, since it would actually be for her to use. :)

Posted

Well, she likes it so far. Are the sills patchable by someone with a small MIG welder?

Posted

Yes, should be easily patched by a 'home' mig. My intention was to use it myself till the Polo came along.

Bewdley is about 3 miles from Kidderminster, 12 from Worcester. Postcode search = DY12.

It's currently parked in workshop in Worcester.

May be able to trailer it a reasonable mileage as well.

red5...going in!*

*I know, geeky isn't it.

Right chaps, any takers for the Vento at all? Either with or without RFL.

@Lovejoy, radio works, display works - all lights up as it should.

Really would like it to go to some use - either whole or for parts. I succumbed to the lure of yet another Frontera which turns out is even more shagged than I thought (which takes some doing) so need the Vento space for the 4x4Housebrickâ„¢ before I have to live in it !

Sam.

waiting for the experts on here to call it piece of shit and tell you to 'scrap it', 'weigh it in', 'smash it up' etc etc

It's actually a half decent car though Dear! No growly 1300 pushods here..............

Is nobody going to do something with this beauty?

I'm down in Birmingham in a couple of weekends time. If its still for sale I can pop round and drag it away to a slow death involving my Halfords socket set.

Why am I so drawn to this, I HATE VAG shite!

I must admit I am not keen on VW's from the 90's onwards but this does look nice.

I am only down the road but I am not really sure it is my sort of thing!

Posted

Shit, I'd forgotten about this. Erm ... let me have a word in the morning and see if she's still interested.

Posted

Amy closure on this crock?

Posted

She's still available...be a real shame to frag it...or worse 'scene it'. Hence really cheap ShiterPrice chaps. Anyone not sure about it you are more than welcome to inspect etc.

Sam

It would indeed be a shame.

Ventos are definitely autoshite imho as the saloon format appealed to bloody minded old geezers who believed the far more practical Gowf a housewife's car. This makes them desirable to the shitters in the way that Gowfs of this period arent. Were you closer......
