It's not quite a straight reissue, but it is quite nice, I think. 7x15" only so far, but with others to come. *Webbsight* What do we think?

What other wheels of the past would we have back? Wellers? Cosmics?

Wellers buckled if you hit a cat's eye too hard, I hate to think how they would cope with today's ultra-low-profile tyres. I'd still have a set of chrome 8 spokes though.

I know Revolutions have never really gone away, but I still consider them desirable anyway. And RoStyles. Meanwhile my mate Ian is going to be very interested as soon as these slots appear in 13"....

:lol: I used to help out one of the Cowdenbeath racers occasionally, he'd a stockpile of the bloody things. And some fairly crude methods of straightening them out. Still, they used to be everywhere; esp the chromes on 4x4's.

Agreed about Revolutions: I spotted an XR2 with RFX's on the other day, and it just looked right.

I have to say I think the remade wolfrace design just looks wrong, Its like its inside out.

 

I'd love for someone to repoduce the Dunlop composites again as they are a good looking wheel but real pig to get restored.

Like mk2 Escorts sold for 250 quid in the late 90's/early 00's, I guess a lot of us have rejected those 'ugly' alloys to the bin/£25 "buy it now". I had a set of gold BMW split-rim BBS wheels and standard slot mags that were about as desirable as 17" Ripspeed wheels are today, my pa took them to the tip.

I'm not a fan of the new "Slot Mag" A rather mediocre effort I reckon.

 

I picked up a set of those Dunlops in reasonable (though not 100% rust free) order for £20 about a year ago. Were recently joined in my stockpile by a set of MGB fit 14" Cosmics for £30.

I had a set of chrome 8-spokes on my Avenger in 1989, they came off a Cortina languishing round the back of the garage where we took our MOTs.

 

I think they should start selling white 8-spokes in the 'club book' again, along with Tomos mopeds...

Agreed about Revolutions: I spotted an XR2 with RFX's on the other day, and it just looked right.

RFX wheels look good, as do multispoke Ronals, of the type fitted to Audi coupes of the mid-80s.

Best place for Mambas is on a Mini; a proper one of course, in 10" diameter. It's just so right! :D

I had some Mag Industries, looked a lot like the Dunlops but with more dish and without the centre ring. Large magnesium content, lighter than the tyres fitted to them. Let them go on a Type3 despite knowing a good set, refurbished, sell for £450+

 

Kinky Micks Happy Wheel Shack is a good source of wheel porn. Take your waders though as you'll be arse-deep in scene tax.

I haz just taken delivery of a pair of these tasty muthas in 13" flavour, along with the two 14"s I already have, to go on the Imp.

Ive got Allycats on one car and modern Wellers on another , Weller are still going , not slotted spokes now but 14 holes instead , sold as Oval circuit wheels IIRC

When I got my 900T van, it came fitted with a set of 'period' alloys. The previous owner knew nothing about them, but did tell me he had been in contact with Dunlop because "they looked like Dunlop wheels" but Dunlop said - nothing to do with us....

 

Anyway, I found out what they were, just by cleaning the bloody things :lol: A good clean revealed 'Goodyear Gemini' stamped on the rim.

 

Thing is, now I actually know what they are, the info out there about them, seems to be pretty scant............ :(

 

Here is a pic of the wheel in question. Van is on Panda steels while I'm working on it though.

^Just had a gander at that site; plenty of interesting stuff. Not enough Centerlines, dunno why, but I was expecting more of those!

My fantasy rod build when I was about 17, had tiny'n'massive Centerline Convo Pro's on it... :roll:

I voted on the Wolfrace website for the return of the slotmag but they didn't show the new incarnation of it which looks a bit shit with that centre cap, it looked alot better the way it was thats why people wanted it back, how about next time you cast a polling vote why not explain that the winning choice will be made different to what is proposed then maybe I wouldn't have wasted three minutes of my life voting for it then whinging about how shit the new version looks.

 

Alot of old stylee wheels are making a return due to the Mini and VW scence, you can buy new Mambas and Dunlop D1s and Cosmics although as I understand from reading many people's opinion who've bought these wheels is that (and this would be about fackin right) the quality isn't as good as the originals which is ironic considering we're looking at about thirty years worth of potential higher quality control up the shitter.

 

Lose the centre cap and just make the slotmag as it was, is it that fucking hard to do? just dust off the old blue-prints and produce them not dick about adding shit that looks out of place.

Better still, do both. The new centre cap type won't look quite right on a 'Tina or a Minor, if it's done period style. They might work better in a slightly more modern setting tho'.

A mate of a mate at school, got a tidy-ish Minor. As his old boy ran a garage, he'd already stashed away all the bits to convert to Metro Turbo power. First mods on the list? Slot mags and Cobra buckets, of course!

didn't come from Malcolm Fancy Engineering before he closed down, by any chance ?
