Just bought this today, cheap as chips (almost literally), been garaged for two years, full history and sounds sweet, no MOT or tax but really straight. Overheats but the fans are not kicking in, still, isn't it lovely!

Ooh, nice. I fancied one of these as a bargain barge but four figure insurance ruled that out.

That looks remarkably good, considering its age and the fact its been out of use for a bit. My old Rover 214Si was the same colour and it looked really nice when polished-up :)

You trying to compete with Nigel Bickle for the most amount of cars own on AS?!

Overheats

You surprise me*.

It's probably just the radiator, they're made from Wensleydale.

Good old cars these... I loved both my old saloons.

My mk1 820e automatic died in 1993 by the looks of it.

I've always wanted a fastback Vitesse though, I almost bought this one at Morley auctions in 2002.

It doesn't look like it lived very long after it was sold, much like my old mk2 820i which I sold around the time I tried to buy the Vitesse.

If anyone has got a single point injection 820e or 820se, I still have my Snap-on datacheck 100 for adjusting the emissions somewhere. I think I might also have a boot spoiler for the mk1 saloon in my Dad's shed that I never got round to fitting on mine.

I've got a single-point 820e:

Though technically its not mine. I may still be interested though for my mate who owns the car, how much you looking for the Snap-on datacheck and spoiler? I'll see if he is interested or has any datachecks.

An 820Si is definitely the shite-barge of choice.

I went to buy an 820 fuseboard from an eBayer down the road a couple of nights back - he had a fastback 820Si that he paid £104 for three years back. Said he'd done 30k and only needed tyres and an exhaust (well, and a fuseboard, and in fact an expansion tank). Also said he got 25mpg in town and 35mpg on a run - not bad for an auto.

It was a brilliant old shed covered in crap and full of tools - along with a semi-primered tailgate for the knackered Range Rover he had on his drive. SHITE LEGEND.

funnily enough HHH this one is right down the road from you too, it's literally next to the Hammersmith Flyover!

Nice enough -but I doubt its ''you''.

Reckon the costs n hassle will outweigh the profit. There again I could be wrong. There again -who cares? Nice buy.

Catch me up? You lot have only seen 30%. Having the Spring switch areound right now...Decisions, decisions.

I'll never catch you up Nigel!

It probably isn't me but I had one before as a daily, back when they were a bit flash and I loved it, disappointed it's a manual because I'm a lazy shit but whether I keep it or not it deserves to be saved, the bodywork is lovely, it has been looked after and you can tell by looking at it that it's been looked after. I'm worried about the overheating, there's a tiny bit of mayo in the oil cap but it was short on water, what water there was looked okay, the fans didn't kick in which I think is the culprit, we'll see!

I picked up something else today, very excited!

Retrieved this this morning, borrowed some trade plates and brought a mate with a van and tow rope just in case. The fan switch was buggered so that was wired constantly on which knocked out the temp gauge and basically hoofed it from Hammersmith to Clapham in 15 minutes which is good going. It misfired quite badly at first but once warmed up was fine on two year old petrol and once back I checked the fluids and they were fine! Everything seems to work well. Looking through the paperwork it was supplied new to Stanley Tools in Sheffield in 1995 then to the guy I bought it off in 1999, full service history and great bodywork, garaged from new! Obviously I threw a bucket over it and here it is now:

It's bugger all use as a spare for a 25, the PCD is different.

The 800? CLASS.

I'd love to 'throw a bucket' over that, nice work.

Yo're quite right, of course. "It's one of that style" is what I should have said

Hmmmm............all that needs is Kraut Bint Marina , spread-eagled over the bonnet in some sort of Union Jack hosiery, fanning herself with a Kate and Wills Royal Wedding commemorative tea-towel.
