But would you really pay over £34k for something that looks like a stretched Mk2 Escort?

I imagine there are many folk who would pay 34K for a Mk2 Escort....

I think IS OL RS should've sent a few more chassis out to outside coachbuilders in recent years, there were a lot of beautiful coachbuilt RI T Ls in the past, although not many fims like that exist any more, the choice of cars with a seperate chassis that people are willing to pay megabucks for is pretty limited too. Some of the recent Zagato efforts have been a real return to form, if there was an edition of 5 new Bristol Zagatos I'd have been happy.

Why not?

While upkeep wouldnt be cheap I'd imagine they're fairly simple motors to work on, and I dont see them depreciating much - especially if they've gone forever. Admittedly probably not the easiest car to sell though.

If I had won the lottery I would drive my Scenic down to Lahndaaahn and pick up my £££££ cheque and drive back up in this beauty, stopping at every single services on the M1 to put in more petrol.

Thats absolutley lovely H.I. Bedford CF2 tail lights as well!

Well I never.:lol: A sign of true class.

Could work if Bristol gets sold off for a pound as with Rover. Keep the Fighter production going, slowly tweaking it to look more and more like a Scimitar, drop the land barges and start producing alluminium bodied Tagoras, with V8 drivetrain option, and ashtrays, lots and lots of ashtrays.

Crikey, today's the day. Wonder if the landed gentry of the BOC will have a whipround? I've got £2.85, 7 JPS and a nearly new lighter in my pocket. I could go to the cash machine later if needed...

It's a start isn't it?

I refer my learned colleague above to this post from page 2.

The current saloon looks dreadful - doesn't matter how good a car is under the skin, if it's awful outside, you won't get many buyers. All went wrong after the 410 really.

No need for the knockers to come out just because Bristols have gone tits up. :x

QED. Pay attention at the back!

Being serial now, if some eastern patent infringing CE paperwork contriving heavy industry feckers who couldn't tell concrete from cast iron do buy Bristol, I shall set about destroying this planet.

Word on the street is that Morgan have had an offer accepted, couldn't be better really, unless Bristol then drag Morgan down with them.

From AR Online:

Kamkorp Autokraft, part of the Frazer-Nash group, has announced that it has acquired the assets and goodwill of Bristol Cars, the luxury car manufacturer, from its administrators. This acquisition will re-establish the connection between Bristol Cars and Frazer-Nash which dates back to Frazer-Nash’s close involvement in the foundation of Bristol Cars 65 years ago.

William Chia, the group’s Director of Operations, said: ‘Bristol Cars is a British institution and an important part of our national motoring heritage. Over the next few months we will start to reveal the details of our plans to combine Bristol Cars’ tradition and iconic marque with Frazer-Nash’s pioneering technology to showcase our cutting-edge electric and range-extended powertrains.

‘British engineers are globally recognised for their inventions and the quality of their innovation – and these attributes are inherent in all our systems and products. Mindful of Bristol Cars’ rich heritage and our responsibility as custodians of the brand, we are certain that our technology will blend seamlessly and successfully with the Bristol Cars tradition of engineering integrity.

‘Owners and enthusiasts of the cars should be assured that, even though these are early days in our tenure of the brand, we are committed to providing them and their cars with the highest levels of quality, technology and service.’

"Frazer-Nash Group", what on earth? Did they pull that out of their own arses?

I have no idea! It will be interesting to see what transpires, though ;)

Didn't know Frazer Nash were still around, there's history between them and Bristol, wonder if the workforce will be offered their jobs back, that would be a nice thing to happen.

Posted

Frazer Nash seem to be an engineering consultancy that do a bit of everything except automotive, now theyve got a finger in that pie as well.

Kamkorp Autokraft? As in, Autokraft, the makers of high quality Cobra replicas? Wonder if they're one and the same. If so, this could be interesting.

Posted

Autokraft simply meens "motor power" in German - Kamkorp is Swiss. Not linked to the old AC replicas people of yore.

There was a Frazer-Nash supercar concept called the Namir at the 2009 Geneva Show, which had a series hybrid powertrain (like the GM Volt/Ampera) using a rotary engine. Designed by Giugiaro, 0-60 in 3.5sec etc. So clearly they're looking for a vehicle for this technology. Expect a very different Bristol in the future...

Personally I'd love a 411. Stonking piece of kit.
