Scrapyard visit

Today I went to what used to be an old school scrapyard that I thought had closed years ago. Not quite as large as it used to be, new people running it and most of the really old chod gone, but I took a few piccies for your viewing pleasure. Sadly it seems that some of the older tat is destined for the oval.

That MK10 Jag looks slightly familiar!

Not sure to be honest as it had absolutely no badges left on it.

I must admit I had the sam e thoughts on the jag but couldn't remember how local the stolen one was

Hillman Minx - looks pretty solid. Shame about the Westy too but hey if pre-68 is coming there's no turning back. Most of them do look pretty crusty though I suppose.

The Mk10 set alarm bells ringing with me too.

Ive got a little tear in my eye for that 3 door sierra, wonder if theyd deliver it to me lol, where in the country is that scrap yard?

Comparing the two pics, the scrapyard Mk10 doesn't seem to have the mess at the bottom of the wing. Still a big coincidence though!

i'm with mash on the wing, doesnt look the same, maybe worth the owner just having a gander though just to on the safe side

Some textbook oval fodder there, such a shame that these will never see the road again.

Wonder whats with the old Datsun Sunny though? Love it!

same old story so the owner of the scrapyard dose a bit of banger racing & there"s a mk 10 jag stolen in bucks & there"s a mk 10 jag in surrey oh it must be nicked then not all banger drivers are thieves with the price of scrap nothing safe??????

Not all motorcyclists are Hell's Angels either, nor are all football fans thugs, but tarring-brushes are quite wide!* The banger community needs to get on with some self-policing, it's in the interests of the sane members. Meanwhile, can someone get me the complete steering wheel off that Wolseley? I want the horn ring on my A40 and will need the wheel to go with it... please?

*I suppose it's even possible there's an honest politician somewhere in the world... No, that can't be true...

In fairness 1. this isn't a banger racer attack and 2. whilst it could be/probably isn't that car, nobody has suggested that the yard owner himself nicked it. It is very possible, if it is the stolen jag, that it was nicked for scrap and sold onto a scrappy as a generic house clearance. It would be a very stupid thief to leave it out in a place where people who now about old cars a regularly looking through in order to find parts.

nice photos btw

Exactly. But when a dark blue, scruffy Mk10 with wing mirror holes in the same place and similar water stains on the paint turns up a few weeks after an identical one has gone missing it's not surprising people put 2 and 2 together.

You can see that's not the same Jag, This one looks to have been sat a while, There wouldn't be green algae under the bumpers of they had just been removed, I doubt the Jaguar mascot would have been taken off and most importantly i also doubt someone would have repaired that front wing after nicking it, and it seems to have modern Montego style front seats now.

The MK1O is not the same car, fact,i know because it belongs to the owners son,who showed it to me over a year ago in the same spot,he does save the old tat and doesn,t race everything, hes saved plenty over the years, when i was younger Chobham car spares was my second home when it was huge, the stuff they had was amazing!!!

the mk10 has gone, i posted the link to a jag forum incase anybody needed parts and a member rang up and asked about it and the answer was

when I asked about the MK1O they had in the yard the reply came "not in here " quickly followed by "its sold gone"

Cheers all for still keeping an eye out for my wife's stolen Mk10. Must say this one did look very much like it - mirror and aerial holes in the right places etc. - but if 25v6turbo has seen this one 'in the metal' a year ago, then of course it's not the same one...
