WINNAH! Ace cars and pretty quick too, once you get used to the ride nothing else will ever compare for comfort and ride quality. Quick, join www.bxproject.co.uk and www.bxclub.co.uk.

That's one of those cars that I just didn't 'get' when new, but with the benefit of age is beginning to look really quite appealing :D

Well bought that man!!

Very Nice, There was a doctor in my village when i was a lad who had one on a H plate but in black, I think his was a 16v though, He used to drive it like a nutter!

Not sure Cav, The provenance (I feel like a crufts breeder) is:

out of Torsten's emporium of Automotive Mayhem

out of Nigel Bickel

out of some bloke in Essex who was the 2nd owner and who has PTS welding service up there and can be found on the Bx forum username 350ci muppet he was the 2nd owner so quie low ownership for one of these and never been chavved

And as luck would have it I get the Torslanda, I've not had one before. I must admit that I'm not a big fan of the BX, I love the styling and the levels of comfort but I think my ideal would be a right early one in the lowest possible spec, I seem to recall they had that odd recirculating ball speedo, oh, and automatique would be preferable! What's the chances of that eh?

Aha, not the same bloke then. Philip started a GTi register to see how many were left, and I bought an extremely tidy black GTi auto off him a good while back.

Good luck with it.

Not many of the 16v ones....the real rockets..most of those that haven't fallen to bits or in the hands of enthusiasts had their engines canabilised for 1.9 gti 205s

This one is an 8v gti. The most common of the high performance Bx cars. Less to go wrong but still quick 128hp in a car that weighs around 950 kilos.0-60 in around 8.4 top speed 125mph...the 16v even quicker

Ideal q car as few under 25 have a clue what it is.

Recall the 1.9 tdi Bx in its various forms. Until 1990 it was the fastest oil burning production car in the world. You never see Bx s their days in the UK. Rare sight indeed and only 10 years ago very common.

Surely the CX Turbo 2 diesels were quicker and earlier? 120mph IIRC and mid-Eighties? Same house.

Ah, slight pedant mode sorry sir. They never officially made a 1.9TD BX. The choice of dizzlers for these were 1.7 n/a, 1.7TD and 1.9 n/a.

The 1.7TDs can't half go some, first gear only really any good up a steep hill, second gets interesting and third is an absolute hoot. A standard one should see 115mph-ish without too much trouble.

I ran a 1.9TD converted estate for a while and it was fucking mental. Not only did it pull from 30-100+ in top very nicely but would embarrass plenty of modern 'sporty' cars.

You sure?

I had a Bx 19 tzd estate registered in 1994..it was one of the last sold. Pretty sure it was a 1.9 td but I stand to be corrected it was bloody quick.

Dw. Just quoting the bxproject site for the fastest tdi claim. The cx weighed considerably more. Maybe their facts are out but they seem pretty solid on all else

You got me thinking so I did some digging.

The 1994 Bx19 tzd turbo (1.9) was bought by my dad from macandews in Edinburgh. I dug through the paperwork and it was indeed a 1.9 turbo.if I recall correctly the car was a special order by the dealership owner and my dad persuaded him to part with it. Further digging online shows that the 1.9 tzd turbine wasn't sold in the uk and doest appear in UK model listings as per your post. But it does appear in french model listings as well as eastern European listings as a late model.

Under French listings it is described ad the Evasion Break.

If this is the case then my one was a rare car indeed as a rhd....wish is never sold it now!

Can only assume special order as you said mate, the TZDs were either 1.9 n/a or 1.7TD. It's probably worth mentioning it on BXC and BXP as they'd love to hear about it. There's always been some debate in BX circles (in Britain) about the 1.9TD models and whether they existed or not, your dad's will make a great talking point if nothing else.

I've always liked these. Mrs Col had an auto for a while, I sold a 16v to someone from Retro Rides, and I had a dizzler estate for a bit. Build quality is variable [ahem] but a good one is a lovely thing. That looks terrific.
