Is the Cortina an XL? My Dad had a P reg 2.0XL and it had plain wheels with hub caps and didn’t have as much chrome trim as that one.

Yes because it's an early facelift as said 1.6 had caps & rings.

The ests reverted to that spec as the 2000E had sports rims as STD.

Far as we know this & the white P reg GT & the two mk4's ( GL & S) used later where STD cars unlike the consul/granadas that had police spec wiring for two tones, radios & headlight flaskers.

A chase in the Sweeney, the blue MK3 Cortina in the background is a Flying Squad car. The blue Cresta is the bank robbers getaway car, they all split up

Used in another armed hold up in a later episode, gets hit by a Ford Transit security van.

You could always tell when a spectacular crash to end the chase was coming by the standard / value of the car being chased.

I remember catching an episode of Casualty part way through where someone was being cut out of a crashed car, & my Dad commenting that it didn't look much better before it crashed!
