I had an explore of that Flickr photo group, I recognised Profil and Fette Kursiv Grotesk (also known as Derek AT italic), but I think the Extra Bold version of Stymie Italic is the 1960's/1970's signage font (Stymie Bold looks too thin):

Liked for the SGE traffic signals in the background. By this time, some were equipped with pictogram boxes for pedestrian red and green men, as here. Rare to see photos of those.
