That was in the days when the Channel Islands Boat Train service operated between Weymouth and Waterloo (or Paddington in an earlier era). The last (special) train ran on the tramway in 1999.

On arrival at Weymouth, the train would be hauled along the tramway to the ferry embarkation point in the harbour. This required street running (max 5mph) and shifting cars that were parked too close to the track.

Didn't we have a thread celebrating this particular type face? Incidently, this picture is far more recent than it looks (note the plastic jerrican) - it's still there at 'The Willows' Colchester ...

Yes. Weirdly this came up in conversation with Mrs Yoss just this morning, can't even remember why now. Can't for the life of me remember the name of the font now and it's doing my head in. No amount of googling variations of old 1970s shop font sign etc, will bring it up, and therefore the thread is lost to me forever. Please help.
