In the 1970s our Scout group got a 250 JU Crew Bus.

It got fixed* one time by hitting the battery (under the Driver seat) with the wheel brace.

(loose battery terminal).

It was replaced with a 250 JU Mini Bus, ex ICL, more luxurious having upholstered seats rather than wood slat benches.

But less suited to the role of loading Scouts and their tents and other kit.

On one occasion the Scouter driving nearly fell out, as the driver's door he was leaning on too much, flew open.

Most I remember had the sliding front doors, often driven with one or both wide open.

The workshop part is still there albeit under a different name. The showroom is long gone.

Used to be loads of ex forces ones round here in late 70's crew buses.

Remember my uncle having a navy blue ( brush painted) pickup & dark green MK2 cortina 2door.
